Not recommend geek squad certified
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop as an excellent certified open box item hoping to get a high quality (like new) item. From the description it should not have any physical flaws or scratches but it do have both. When I close the lid the laptop lid make a crazy sound and there is a large scratch on the lid too. Very disappointed at best buy open box service and not recommend that even when you pay extra for the laptop to be geek squad certified to make sure the laptop is checked already but apparently it was not. That is a very obvious issue that you can find with the first look. When this obvious issue is overlooked like this, you will know there should be other issues probably inside the laptop that was overlooked too or the laptop was not really "like new" at all.

A bad decision
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had to return this laptop twice. First order laptop had a fan issue, this time is OS; I have to reset it every time for it to work decently. Extremely unpleased by this laptop. Was acquired like an open box in "excellent" conditions but it isn't.

System issues after two weeks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven't had a good experience with this laptop & currently having service done through geek squad to it now after only having it about 15 days, which is a day after return date. Dell laptop stated to update...so did update & shutdown. Next morning when computer was turned on get a white screen with Bios auto-recovery and never would update, recover nor go away just struck on that screen so couldn't use the laptop so took it back to best buy for service after some chats & calls to best buy. Very disappointed after paying about $760 & can't ever use the laptop which was bought for son for school use & don't know what other issues it may have in the future.

Screen will crack, watch out
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.screen cracked after 1.5 years. Internally from no fall or anything, just cracked. $556 to repair from geek squad. Liked the computer but now need a new one. Pay attention if reviews say the screen cracks, obviously poorly made. And if new screen cracks only a 30 day warranty. In the shop they said $150-200 to fix, but after spending $85 to ship it off repair is not reasonable.

DELL- Inspiron 7000
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.never again will I purchase any electronics from Best Buys. This will be the second time that I have to return my DELL for service. The 1st issue is/was for the battery over heating. I was told to buy a computer fan to "cool" off the battery while in use. I now have to have my computer serviced due to a repair defect, due to the computer/ battery causing a shortage in my computer because of the over heating. And remind you I purchased this computer Feb 20, 2021 and it's April 2021..

Posted .Hello Chevonne,
Thank you for your feedback and review. We apologize for the overheating issue you came across with your laptop. Below are steps that can help with overheating in the future.
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.
This article contains further details that can help with your overheating: http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.

Best buy sells crap
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The crappiest device ever. Would not recommend to anyone. Not even buying for best buy. I can no even download my tax file. I asked your expert. He lied. Then opened a credit card. The rewards are not showing up. If I wanted crap to buy I would have gone to Staple's. I am going to pay off this and never ever never buy from you store again. I reviewed this with Dell they don't give a crap either. So you lost all my business. And I am going to make sure I tell everyone.

Buyer Beware
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately for me, this laptop was a dud. The first one gave me black screen blinking issues right off the bat, along with text distortion. Returned it, hoping the second one would work, but no. Same problem. Downloaded updates, restarted, tried it in safe mode, and nothing. Called Geek Squad and was advised to return it as it was a hardware issue. It would have been a nice laptop had it worked. I'm guessing Dell quality control has gone downhill drastically.

Not what we wanted
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The item we received did not match the description. Return policy is awful, it’s a shame. Bought for my high school son for Christmas. He was using it for a while stating it did not perform as well as he expected. Finally took a closer look the other day only to discover it was not what I thought I had ordered and now it can not be returned.

Buyer's Remorse
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is pretty terrible so far. The battery life is about 2 hours when I read reviews saying 8. The touchpad gets stuck about every 5 minutes. There were already Windows updates within 2 uses and the screen got stuck updating for over 2 hours. I forced a reboot. Not impressed and will likely return it.

Posted .Marie,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about your computer's performance so far. We'd recommend the following tips to help extend your computer's battery life:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

If you need to re-calibrate your touchpad you can follow these steps: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
