Enjoying the big ssd. Great for streaming video. Hard to open with one hand (had shoulder surgery so a bit disabled right now). Great buy for the price. Dell support is really good. Reinstalled windows as is my habit soon as was I was sure hardware was okay. Had some difficulties so used dell support. They were very good and thorough.

I bought this for my wife to replace her 5 year old laptop. She decided to move down to a 14 inch verse her previous 15.6 screen. She is loving the compact size and how smooth it operates compared to her aging laptop. She uses it mostly for bookkeeping, Word documents and web browsing. Great laptop for the money.

Fast for the price. Chosen largely for moderately large SSD storage. Would give 5 stars if it had more than one USB port and/or an SD card reader.

      joshgil,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear that your computer is overheating. Here are some tips to help prevent your computer from getting to warmer temperatures:

      Tips for Proper Usage:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

I didn't want to spend a fortune, and didn't need anything too fancy. This has been really great. I like the 2-in-1 laptops. It was easy to set up and it boots quickly, etc.. I use mainly for an architectural design program, surfing the internet, and limited gaming. So far so good.

Only used it a couple of times and had to be returned to Dell for a new Wifi card. 10 days later I had it back, luckily I know how to diagnose the problem, Dell agreed and then wait in line at post office to mail back. Maybe just one of those off things and it went bad on me and not an inherent problem. Just keep it in a bag and only use it a few times a year for power point presentations so can't say much about it except this problem

      Steve,

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the WiFi issues that you had with your computer. In the future you can try to fix your connection issues with these steps:

      1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
      2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
      3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
      4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
      5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
      6. Power ON the Dell system.
      7. Open Network and Sharing Center
      8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
      9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
      10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
      11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
      12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
      13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

I’ve always loved Dell laptops so purchasing a new seemed logical an worry-free since I was very familiar with the brand. However, as soon as I got home, set up the device And started working, I noticed a key defect. The letter “H” was sticking like nobody’s business, clearly this was a defective unit and I wanted it gone. The very next day I returned this laptop to the store and opted for the Microsoft Surface Laptop instead.
