    Stopped connecting to internet

After a couple days, it would no longer connect to internet. Geek squad said they could send it to dell for repair, but it would probably take 6-8 weeks. I exchanged it for a new one which is working fine.

      Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issues that you had with your first computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps for any WiFi connectivity issues that you may have in the future:

      1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
      2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
      3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
      4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
      5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
      6. Power ON the Dell system.
      7. Open Network and Sharing Center
      8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
      9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
      10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
      11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
      12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
      13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

Don't buy this computer. I bought this for my 1st Grader, felt that it was more than adequate for his remote learning and he could play Minecraft and a few other games on it. Once I can turn the thing on it works fine but the power button doesn't work well and when it goes into sleep mode it's often impossible to wake, resulting in turning the machine off and restarting - losing any work in the process. I expected better from Dell but I've just purchased a different computer from Microsoft, it should arrive tomorrow and I'll be returning this piece of junk to the store.

      David,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the performance issues that you're having with your new computer. We'd recommend that you check the Power Settings on your computer. Some Power Managers have a box that is checked off that says that the computer can shut down to save power if needed. If you uncheck this box hopefully it will help your computer wake from sleep mode easier. We hope that this helps your computer perform better for you.

If you have additional questions about your computer you can check our Product Support Page here: https://dell.to/3eSloSb.

Over all the laptop is ok but the eye strain I get with this laptop compared to my HP is significantly more. I’ve tried messing with the resolution, cleartype, uninstalling drivers, etc. There may be other things I can do to try but I’m just very disappointed. I’ll have to plug in an external monitor or something and hope it helps. I already installed my Microsoft office (one computer install) so I don’t want to return it or I’ll lose that money. Just disappointed and will probably go back to HP when this one croaks in a few years.

      Jackie,

Thanks for your review. We're glad that your computer is running at a comfortable temperature for you. We're sorry that your computer's touchpad has been giving you some issues. Please consider re-calibrating your touchpad with these steps:

Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touchpad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touchpad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:

      1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
      2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
      3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
      4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
      5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
      6. Change the options as preferred.
      7. Touch or click Save.
      8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
      9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
      10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.

I would not buy a Dell product in future. My laptop is 8 month old and I had issues with the wifi network. The wireless network adapter cannot start so it cannot recognize any wifi networks. I has happened two times now. Since this laptop does not have a ethernet port, I had to buy a usb adapter to connect to internet so Dell support can remote it. The first time it happened, the support person reinstalled the bios and it started working. Happened again in a weeks time. This time the support person did the debugging and could not fix it, so concluded that it's a software problem and wanted me to refer to their software team which wants to charge $100 to look at the issue. Device cannot start (Code 10). This is the message that is showing on the wireless network adapter. When google this I found a lot of users having the same issue with dell laptops. It's is really unacceptable that DELL don't stand behind their products and wants you to charge money when the laptop is still under warranty, One user replaced the network card again which fixed the issue. I would recommend not to by any dell laptops.

I am disappointed in this computer. I've had to call tech support more than I care to mention. The soft ware was not completely down loaded. There have been problems with my printing ability on my wireless printer and I cannot click on the google icon to get immediate connection. It sometimes takes 10-15 clicks just to get to the internet. I am sorrow I chose this particular computer./
