Dell Inspiron 7000 series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop last year and since last two months I am getting an error saying the AC power charger does not recogniz. I tried with five different outlets and same issue. Also my mouse pad is not functioning properly and Letter P constantly autotyping and I can't stop it. I barley use this laptop it is still in an excellent condition. I called the Dell customer service and they said I am out of warranty this November 2016. I am out of luck now. I wasted $800. I will never ever suggest anyone to buy Dell from the Best Buy. I am very disappointed because now I have to spend more money to buy the new laptop. This is my second bad experience buying laptop from the Best Buy. In the past I bought HP and that laptop battery died and I can't charge that anymore. So I would never ever go to the Best Buy to buy any Electronic product.

Great machine, with a qualificaton.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace a 15" XPS that is 5 yrs old. From a performance standpoint it's certainly an improvement, and Win10 is already a favorite (coming from Win7). I like it, but would I buy it again? Not likely. And that's really a shame, because I've only had it for a week. The why is because of the screen. It is REALLY dark. Excellent color, sharpness, contrast, etc. But I have it sitting next to the XPS, and this on it's brightest setting is substantially darker than the XPS at it's dimmest. The main problem is in a dark room- in a bright room, or during the day, it's fine. I bought my first Dell in '91, and I've been totally happy with them ever since. This one is good, but I'm not a raving fan.. As others have said, I initially had some WiFi issues, kept disconnecting, then not finding any signals, etc. I played with the settings and it seems to have resolved- I only wish I knew what I did! So be confident that you will get a good machine, but also be aware you won't have to worry about squinting at the screen. Ever.

Know the details
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unfortunate side to technology is that often times there conditions that comes with it. Some conditions are acceptable while others are not. In almost every circumstance however, they will impact each of us differently. I have nearly 20 years experience in Information Technology to help me sort things out so hopefully the information I provide here can help you decide if this laptop is for you. Aesthetics: One of the first things you may notice is the excessive unused space around the display panel. First thoughts may be, "Why didn't they just made the whole thing smaller?" Remember that this unit doubles as a tablet. Get a good hand grip on this in tablet mode and your fingers will wrap the edges. If this was an edge-to-edge display, your grip could click the screen. In short, it gives you space to hold it! 4K display resolution: At native 4K resolution 3840x2160, text is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. Windows 10 uses screen scaling and increases icon and font size by 250x. This works well for the operating system, Edge browser and other native Windows components, but install some 3rd party applications such as QuickBooks or Photoshop... forget it. Application support for screen scaling is behind the curve. I ended up setting the screen res to 1400x900 (no scaling). So unless you plan on hooking this up to a large 4K TV/monitor or have other needs for 4K graphics, don't put too much stock into the 4K capability. CPU speed: While plugged in it runs as I expected. The i7 processor in this model is the primary reason I purchased it. Plenty of horsepower for me to multi-task my business and graphics apps. BATTERY mode however is a different story. The CPU is throttled back considerably to extend battery run-time. Heavy workload? Plug it in. Battery life: Over the last couple of days I have been averaging just under 5hrs with moderate demands on the CPU. Hard drive: As with nearly all laptops, it comes with a weak 5400-RPM 16MB cache model. It is unfortunately the standard for store-bought laptops. It is adequate although a faster drive would unlock a ton of speed. I will likely upgrade it to a 7200-RPM 64MB cache or even an SSD drive. Summary: I give it two thumbs up. Dell has always provided a solid computing platform and one of the draws for me to Dell is that they don't pack their computers full of free trial-ware that ultimately is more of an annoyance. Speed is good, backlit keyboard is great for using in low light, battery life is decent, weight is acceptable for a 15" model and the aesthetics are clean. Very happy that it comes with Bluetooth as well. 4K graphics for me is useless and I do wish it had a faster hard drive however I knew this going in. I could have configured it better to my liking on Dell's website however Best Buy 18-month financing gets me every time :-)

Does the job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great laptop, I am a college student and it does the job I need. Its fast, has a large storage space 1TB, good speakers for music, and it transforms into a tablet. it would be 5 of 5 if it was silent. The only complaint i have is that the hard drive makes a thinking noise that i cannot get rid of and it drives me crazy when i use it in class or in a silent room.

I should have read the recent reviews
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for my wife and nothing but a nightmare. Very disappointed with Dell. The wifi disconnected while performing the initial configuration twice. Ended up having to call Dell and their answer was to do a hard restart. Yep this got it back online long enough to complete the initial configuration. Soon as it was completed started dropping wifi again, this time saying it could not find the wifi NIC. Returned for another one. Well guess what same issue. Had my wife in tears thinking she did something wrong. I went online and found a supposed fix (disabling IPv6 and having only IPv4 enabled. This made no difference. Further research shows this has been a on going issue for Dell for a long time. Dell get ride of that Intel WIFI NIC. Returned the second one a got a HP. It has not had any issues. Smooth easy setup.

Horrible, back to Apple
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of only buying Mac books, I finally broke down and bought a Dell with Windows 10 to use with legal software that does not work on Macs. What happens? This brand new, most recent model can't get a wifi connection so I can't use the Internet. Changing adapter options does not work. This $900 computer is worthless. Really? Is this 2001? Never again will I stray from Apple. Buying a Dell or using Microsoft 10 is like rubbing sticks to start a fire. Site won't let me put only one star, keeps entering two stars. Should be one-half star for nice monitor.

Big Disapointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recommended this laptop to a relative and wish I hadn't. Like other reviewers, wifi constantly drops (downloading the most recent Wifi drivers and doing an update/repair seemed to resolve the problem). After only 1 month of light use, the keyboard malfunctioned and the P key is permanently depressed making the laptop unusable. Spent over 30 minutes on the phone with Dell tech support, and was eventually told to ship the computer back to Dell and wait 10-14 days. I miss the old days when Dell made quality build to order systems that came with on site service.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Strike1 purchase open box get it home and the wrong hard drive installed. Should have been 1TB only 250GB!!! Strike 2 try to buy new full price online. After an hour or so of going in circles about the Best Buy credit card finally give up and cancel order. Strike 3 5 days later try to buy online again. After getting text message order being processed. Waiting for text to pick up. Get message something wrong with order. Call the number given computer prompted no option to talk with a person, but order processes. Checking same run around about the Best Buy credit card. Cancel this order. Strike 4 Go back to store to purchase Best Buy credit card run around again, but after 30 min had the credit problems resolved. Take it home. Wait for it! turn it on select my current time zone, get it logged into my WiFi, access my Microsoft account reading the Microsoft one drive options. BLACK SCREEN that takes me back to selecting my time zone. After that another BLACK SCREEN! Well that's it after 1 hour of messing with this "P O S" it's back at Best Buy.
