I thought my husband would get the most use out of this computer. He is the big gamer in our household. But, my children have loved getting to play their games on it as well! It has a large capacity so everyone gets to play what they want without having to worry about filling up the memory. The graphics card makes all of the games look so realistic! I have found myself standing behind them when they're playing because I am in awe of the clarity. The responsiveness of the system is incredibly accurate and quick - if you click there is an immediate reaction. We have the Alienware gaming mouse and keyboard as well and the full experience truly can't be beat. My husband has been asking for a gaming computer for a couple years now and this one definitely has fulfilled his wishes. His Steam account has never seen so much action. If you are on the fence about this system BUY IT! You will not regret it.

    My Non-Tech Review

I wanted to make this review as easy to understand that I could without as much as tech jargon as I can. So, based on that, here we go. The Dell Inspiron Gaming Computer arrived in a nondescript box with minimal markings that did not relay the goodness inside. Upon opening, I located the dark grey, plastic, and somewhat imposing computer. The box has all the connections needed, a not very impressive keyboard and mouse and quick start guide. I thought for a gaming computer it would have a robust keyboard and mouse, but unfortunately no. These will need to be replaced quickly. I got everything hooked up (to include a hard-lined ethernet cord) pretty quickly and and booted up. The blue internal LEDs are cool and make a "gaming" statement but are not overbearing like some other gaming manufacturers. The internal light can be shut off via a desktop control app. The system has a optical drive on the front, as well as an SD card reader and multiple USB ports. Some of these are the newest USB 3.1 type that allow for high speed transfers. Below the optical drive is also a "blank" drive bay so you can quickly upgrade. On the rear are plenty of USB, sound and ethernet connectors. The system is equipped with an AMD Radeon 580 graphics card which has several DisplayPort and HDMI connectors and has a rather loud fan when the system is being stressed. Internally is has a 1 terabyte drive for storage/programs and 16 gigabytes of system memory. It can be increased to 32 gigabytes if you need and have the money. It has several drive bays for additional drives and the motherboard will accept many of the newer "stick" M2 style SSD drives (which allow your system to boot faster). After all the registrations and updates the system was ready for some tests. It should be noted that there is some Dell bloatware and unnecessary software, top of which was McAfee software that seemed to cause a rather significant slowdown. I ran several graphics and systems software tests (all can be downloaded for free) to test and stress the system. This computer was able to speed through all tests and the graphics tests always resulted in the high margin area. I played a few games (Need for Speed, COD, etc) and they all ran smoothly with a very high frame rate which allowed for smooth gameplay. It has some short term Office software as well as some other Dell software that I guess can be useful, it depends on your needs. Overall, I am very impressed with this computer. I have not owned a higher end "gaming" system from Dell (by another name) but I can tell you for me this is an impressive system that will meet most gamer's needs without having to spend for the top name system or processor. The AMD Ryzen 7 1700 equalled or exceeded some of the other "big name" processors. Only downside for me was the keyboard and mouse that will need updating or replacing soon. Definitely should be on your consideration list if a gaming computer is in your future! Good Shopping!

My 1st system was so slow and Dell could not figure it out, so they had me return it to Best Buy. Best Buy was great and got me another new system. It had some minor issues the first couple hours and after rebooting it I had got was blue screen. Dell customer service couldn't figure it out so I returned that one. I have a really bad taste about Dell systems and their technical service. I wasted 6-hours in two-days with Dell with nothing to show for it.

      Hello MichDad,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear about the adware that you're experiencing with your new computer. The security system that comes with your computer should be working to cut down on any pop-up ads that you are receiving. You may want to check to make sure that all of the programs that are installed are programs that you plan to use on your computer. You can follow these steps to remove programs here: Uninstalling or removing software or applications that you do not use or do not need from your PC can help speed up your PC. Applications may include background processes, system services, context menu entries and other things that can slow down your PC.

Uninstall applications you no longer need using Programs and Features (previously called Add/Remove Programs). Unnecessary applications occupy space on your hard disk drive.

      1. Press the Windows logo key + R on the keyboard.
      2. In the Run dialog box, type appwiz.cpl and press the Enter key.
      3. In the list, select a program and click Uninstall.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tSulGV.

We hope this helps cut down on the amount of ads that you're seeing.

The Dell Inspiron gaming PC is pretty, both in appearance and in specifications. At the time of this writing, it's got some nice, new components recently released on the market. I had only ever used Intel before this AMD-based PC, but I was pleasantly surprised with its performance. But for something designed for gamers, this package could definitely use some extra power if we're spending this amount of money on this tech. Most of the specs seem fairly sound. The Dell Inspiron has 16GB of GDDR5 RAM, which I would say is the minimum for the type of games it is intended to run. Even the 1TB HDD is acceptable. And the Radeon RX 580 graphics card and its 8GB of RAM is one that should last for a couple of years. While I do not normally comment on what a product does not have, I feel that since this is a customized tech package, this an exception to the rule: If we are in this kind of price range, there are gamers with a desire for more power, and would be willing to shell out more money for it and it all be right out of the box, especially for packages of this kind that don't put a potential burden on those who either don't want or can't build desktop PCs. This extra power can be found in other models, but I'll get to that soon. I tested only a couple of games before the writing of this review, including No Man's Sky and Grand Theft Auto V. I pumped the settings up to the max for both games to see what I could get out of them. No Man's Sky ran at a good 60+ FPS for any activity. As for Grand Theft Auto V, the game would often run somewhere around 30-40 FPS, but a little lower—usually 25-28 FPS—during scenes with high graphic activity. Tweaking settings but still keeping them high resulted in a better FPS. I personally prefer 30 FPS over 60 FPS for its cinematic feel, so for me, this was absolutely fine. There is a lot packed into this gaming PC, and the price is pretty fair. Building it yourself would be better, but If you build your own PCs, chances are you aren't considering purchasing this anyway. But what I really want to say is this: I mentioned earlier the HDD and processor. While the 1TB HDD is acceptable, somewhere in this neat-looking tower should be an included SSD, be it for the full storage capacity or just for the operating system itself. The processor could be better, too, and fortunately, there exist two other models with these better processors (the 1700X and the 1800X), one of which also has a 256GB SSD, and I would highly recommend that you get the one with the 1800X over this unless you care little about performance. For what is included, it's entirely worth what is being spent. In this price range, I'm not sure why this model even exists. Again, this model is fair, but a gamer will typically want more, and luckily, more is not that much further.

Most clunky new computer I've ever owned

This is my first Dell computer, purchased because the balance of specs and price were right and because a couple of friends recommend Dell. I've never had a brand new computer work this terribly. It's a "gaming" computer, but it's slow as can be. I don't even use it for gaming. I use it for very everyday things, like Internet, Word, and Excel. It takes forever to do anything. It is clunkier and slower than the four-year-old computer it is replacing. It also regularly comes out of sleep mode by itself, makes weird clicking noises while it's running, gets incredibly noisy when it runs the fan (which it seems to need to do if you do much of anything), and has a few times gone into a "comatose" state where the power light remains on but the computer won't do anything and the monitor stays black. All of this within the first two or three months of owning it. I'm the least impressed I've ever been with a brand new computer.

    Performance Bargain

I know that laptops and tablets are all the rage now and the desktop computer segment has been shrinking for some time. But this computer might just make you appreciate what desktop computers can do. Dell wants this computer to be known as a gaming computer, and it delivers on this facet as well as anything that is out there and at a bargain price - if you've ever tried to price the components to make a gaming system, you'll find this dell is one heck of a bargain. But what if you needed a computer that will let you do video editing and other productivity functions as well? This computer thus becomes so much more than a gamer - it is a player - a performance player. You can do so much more with this as it comes than just gaming. Edit videos, do graphics work, or run a myriad of different apps at the same time and do real work that you just can't do on a tablet or on one of those "budget" laptops that can take you well into the $700 range or more. True, you'll need a monitor - if you have HDMI connection, this will work just fine. This computer can be upgraded to 32 gigs of ram (buy a single 16 gig stick if you can to pair with the one already in the system) and you've got a screamer workhorse that just plain rocks. This computer looks wicked at night - the blue lighting inside the case that shows off the architectural details of the side panels featuring layered honeycomb clear panel topped by some industrial x bracing and then the horizontal slats that carry over to the front and that blue lit dell logo tops it all off. This machine right here is an all in one machine that goes from gamer to producer to workhorse as you need it. You won't have to make apologies either because it looks cool.

Unking69, We're very sorry to hear that your new Dell Desktop is not working properly for you. If you are still having trouble turning on your computer we'd suggest the following steps:
      1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
      2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
      3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
      4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
      5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
      6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
      7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

I needed to replace my desktop which was 10 years old. It was a Dell and served me well so I decided to stay with Dell and try this desktop. Although I have a laptop, I use the desktop for a variety of uses for my business. I also enjoy an occasional PC game to pass the time. This Dell Inspiron AMD Ryzen 7 1700 is an amazing device. Setup was as easy as I've ever had with any computer (even a Mac). The horsepower with the AMD Ryzen processor is remarkable. Although my cable Internet speed was the same as my old computer, the AMD response time is lightning quick. There are plenty of connections built into the desktop. The only drawback is that it is a little heavy, but it sits on the floor and I double if I'll have to move it very often. I highly-recommend this desktop for anyone who needs a serious computer for business or gaming.

Packaging, setup, and performance are excellent. The system is very responsive when running games, streaming video, and using office programs. No lags, no long buffering of video, and it runs very quietly - at least as quiet as my prior PC, which was significantly less powerful. This is basically a gamers PC, with an excellent Radeon RX580 GPU - 8GB onboard in the build that I have. When coupled with the 1 TB drive and the 16 GB of RAM, this is a very solid choice for a PC. The provided keyboard and mouse are pretty standard, but I am running this along with Alienware peripherals: AW2518HF monitor, AW958 mouse, AW768 keyboard and it is an awesome gaming experience so far.

First let me say that I'm not a big gammer. I got this PC to share with my kids but I did want something with powerful enough graphics that WoW and other like games would play well with great looking graphics. What I got is a great PC with excellent WiFi connectivity in a compact tower. This PC is great in every way I expected with the exception of the mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard are fine, they work but they almost seem like disposable utensils; really nice disposables but none the less you get the impression that they were included just to say that they were included. You may want to budget to buy a nicer mouse and keyboard. You should also be aware that the only video output connections supported are HDMI and Display Port. If you are planning to connect this to an older monitor just make sure it has one of these two ports built-in. Just something to be aware of before you decide to purchase. Also be aware that there are only two slots to install RAM. If you want to upgrade to 16 or 32 GB later you will most likely need to buy two RAM sticks to replace the single 8GB stick the PC comes with. The internals of this PC are basic with a minimal compliment of fans for cooling. A big advantage of most Dell PCs which carries over to this model is that the cases are well designed and allow for great ventilation so under normal everyday use they should remain cool and quiet. The blue lighting which intentionally bleeds through the vented side panel and partially vented front panel are actually very subtle and not distracting at all if you place the tower directly on your desk. You actually have to look down at the tower to get the full blue light effect because the vents are angled up. The 1TB HDD (not solid state) performed very well and I did not notice any noise from the drive. I was a little worried because I've been using an SSD on my old PC and thought that I might notice some performance drop related to this but boot times and normal use are very snappy.

Review for Dell - Inspiron Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580 - 1TB Hard Drive - Recon Blue Gaming on a notebook computer pales in comparison to this fast, elegant, and well-equipped system designed for gaming. I compared the performance of “Total War: Warhammer” on my old notebook to this machine from Dell and was amazed at the difference. With a super-fast processor and plenty of memory (16GB) this machine ripped through the rendering of sophisticated battle scenes with ease. At first, I thought it was taking a long time to load the campaign map, but then remembered that I had set it to maximum resolution — something I wouldn’t dare try on my laptop. It really didn’t take that long and the result on my 55” flatscreen TV was very impressive! This is a great gaming system for someone who doesn’t want to build their own. I had only two minor concerns: one is that the system itself comes with only one HDMI port (and two DisplayPorts). I would have liked to have two HDMI ports to make VR use easier. I know, it’s easy enough to use adapters, but the system describes itself as “VR ready,” so I was unhappy to have to get an extra adapter to use my Oculus Rift. That said, VR runs SO nice on this machine. My other minor concern was with the pre-installed security SW. After uninstalling it and adding my own security SW, the system ran much better.
