It needs to run for several hours at a time on battery power and boot up and access Google Drive documents quickly. I was cautious about buying a refurbished computer, but I decided I would make sure to test it out thoroughly during the first 2 weeks while I could still return it to BestBuy. This refurbished Dell Latitude is perfect for what I needed. After the initial setup it has booted consistently in 11 seconds from being completely powered off. I have run it for over 2 1/2 hours continuously and it still shows more than 50% battery left. Since I wanted to make sure I found any problems while I could return it I tried everything. The DVD drive, all USB ports, HDMI and VGA connections to an external monitor, wireless and wired network, sound and power adapter and battery life all work like I would expect a new laptop to work. I cannot say if it will run demanding games since all I have used it for is email, Microsoft Office and Google Drive. For under $400 it is a great laptop for what I need.

Fast and Quiet

My only concern is that it arrived with a universal charger rather than a Dell charger, but so far, so good. Laptop runs fast and quiet!

Store refers us to online, online refers us to store, again, and again, and again. About ten hours on the phone, three store visits, and waiting two weeks, and we still don’t have one.

1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below: 1) Start the computer. 2) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.) 3) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter. 4) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access. 5) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete steps 6 and 7 to see if you are able to resolve the lock ups or freezing.

First time buying refurbished laptop

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think I would ever buy refurbished laptop anymore, unless I would use it as a back-up or less important business. The keyboard and mouse touch board got peeled off, and the battery was drastically shortened after about a year. Now basically the battery is useless. I have to power it on all time. But if just buying for leisure use, it works fine.

Unfortunately, the first refurbished Dell laptop that I purchased from Best Buy died within the first week - blue screen of death. Best Buy was very good with the support and refund and I have had the good experience with my work Dell so I am giving it another try with a refurbished one. It's been about a week now!

Not able to afford the cost of a new laptop and had to go with a more affordable refurbished model. Item came quickly after being ordered. Have had and used this for a month now and have been very pleased with its performance. Seems to work good as new with no issues found.
