Dell Strikes Back
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a real solid laptop, nothing groundbreaking but certainly something that’s high quality and shouldn’t be a let down, with tempered expectations. Out of the box, the packaging was nothing to write home about. There’s a lot of recyclable materials which is great but nothing extra sleek that let me know this is a high end product. Comes with a wall charger to micro-usb for what it’s worth. Out of the box, setup was a breeze. Plugged in, battery was near full and it took me about 15min in Windows updated, but then were off to the races. Purpose of this is to not have two separate devices by not having to carry around a laptop and an iPad and I think this succeeds. The touch screen is very responsive, folds right back, and is clearly study. I prefer to use the touchscreen for most of my work on this so far. The keyboard and touch pad mouse on the PC layout are responsive and quick. The screen is maybe too bright, which is one of my biggest gripes (even with adjustments), and the sound quality is solid. Unplugged, they advertised battery life around 19 hours from charge. After a night of gaming with high specs, I only got 13 hours out of it. That said, I didn’t count exactly but noticed when I’m not running high-power operations, I get much more time. Just know that’s results may vary. As for speed, I don’t think I’d run any high end games on here. It’d work but I attempted to run Warzone and the refresh rate was a TAD laggy. I’d think this is the perfect computer for those working more than gaming and at the price, it’s especially not for the generic public. Due to the AI integration and touchscreen, this would be more helpful for business owners on the go or graphic designers but even holistically, it’s a great computer that I’d easily recommend.

Excellent Windows Copilot 2 in 1
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Plus 2 in 1 is an excellent 14 inch Full HD Touch screen laptop which features a AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor, with 16 GB of memory a 1TB SSD and integrated AMD Radeon graphics. The laptop comes with Windows 11 home preinstalled which I upgraded to Windows 11 pro for work. My primary laptop has always been a MacBook Pro but I needed to use a Windows laptop for work. Dell has done a good job with build quality as it seems to be modeled after the MacBook Pro design family. The unique hinge design allows you to easily use the 2 in 1 as laptop or a tablet. I love that the laptop features 2 USB c ports a USB A port a standard HDMI port as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Having a full size HDMI is great because I don't have to rely on a dock or dongle to hook my laptop up to my display or projector at work. The NPU allows the computer to run many new AI features without using too much power therefore preserving battery life. In real work usage I was able to easily get about 14 hours out of battery which was unheard of with my previous Windows laptop. The charging rich included with the laptop is USB C however it's more of the traditional laptop brick which would have been nice to be compact since the laptop itself is a little heavy for a 2 in 1. I did have a slight hiccup when starting my laptop up for a second time as it required me to enter my bit locker recovery key, but I think this can be attributed to one of the many updates that occurred upon the initial start up cycle.

2-in-1 decent midrange laptop with good specs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If “mid-range” had a physical presence, it may look like the new Dell Plus 2-in-1 that I have been using the last couple of weeks. And that in no way implies that this laptop is a bad product, it’s just it’s not exciting as others in the market. It has good specs list, usable features and capabilities, but nothing stands out, except maybe the midnight blue color scheme. And for some users, especially in a class setting, or just as a casual computer at home, it gets the job done at a decent price; and from that I’m happy at least that these options still exist. The model I have comes with AMDs Ryzen AI 7 350 CPU with AMD Radeon 860M integrated graphics. It’s one of the latest APUs from AMD’s Krackan Point family, housing 8 cores/16 threads - 4 are Zen 5 cores, while the other 4 are Zen 5c cores. With an NPU with 50 TOPS, it’s supposed to be better in performing AI-related tasks, and thus gets Microsoft’s Copilot+ branding. The integrated Radeon 860M is baked on the RDNA 3.5 architecture, so it’s a decent unit. DX12, FreeSync, and ray tracing are all “supported”, but in the end of the day it’s still not a replacement for a dedicated GPU. Yes a lot of the latest games can be run, albeit at a lower settings and frame rate. For everyday use it’s more than adequate, especially considering the power draw/battery life, but this is not a gaming machine in any sense. Build-wise, the laptop is decent - it’s a run of the mill unit with very muted presence - nothing to impress my peers. The midnight finish is good, but other than that nothing stands out. The chassis flexes a bit under pressure, and the hinge is decent and seems to hold up well, at least out of the box - it’s hard to tell how it’ll hold up in the future. The display where the mid-range screams a bit - the 300 nits LCD with FHD+ (1920x1200) resolution is a throwback to a couple of years back when most laptops were drab and had an abysmal screen. It does the job, but after seeing sharper and OLED based displays it looked pretty dismal. Everything looked a bit washed out and I had to spend some time getting things a little better. I’d suggest taking a look at display units if possible to check if this will work for you. The touchscreen works flawlessly. It’s supposed to be compatible with active pens (from Wacom I believe), but I’m not a “pen” person myself so that's a feature I skipped over. The 2-in-1 style expands the versatility of the laptop, and the screen can be set up in different manners. For media consumption, I found the “tent” mode quite useful and distraction free, but most of my time I was using it in the traditional orientation. From performance wise, I got a decent experience. Regular apps opened up without issue, and heavy apps did not bog down the system, especially when plugged in. Dell provides some different power modes and I mostly used the balanced one. But it can be pumped up a bit with Performance mode, but it does take the fan speed up a notch. Overall, the laptop is not the quietest out there - the fan does spin up from time to time, even without apparent load, and some areas near the palm get a bit hot. The laptop is not the lightest or slimmest out there as well. At 3 lbs+, it is heftier than what I’m used to, but still manageable to be carried around the campus in a backpack. Overall, it’s a capable laptop that has good specs and decent performance. The 2-in-1 versatility can work as a stop-gap tablet for drawings/notetaking, so quite useful in an academic environment.

If you really need an all in one tablet.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell - Plus 2-in-1 14" FHD+ Touch-Screen Laptop - AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 Copilot+ PC with 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Midnight Blue feels like a high quality well built laptop. The 14" touch screen is nice and responsive. The AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 is fast enough for daily tasks such as email and web browsing etc. The keyboard is a nice size, even though it's missing the right hand side number pad. I especially like the keyboard back lighting as I like to work in a dim office. The flip from a lap top to a tablet feels solidly constructed and will likely survive hundreds or more conversions. But that's about it for the good. As for the bad, or at least in my opinion things that I found I didn't like or that could be better. First thing first is it glitched out while in the middle of downloading the required updates, and I had to use another computer to find my bitlocker code key to unlock this laptop... not a deal breaker but would be frustrating if this was my only computer. Next, the speakers are very weak. They sound ok, but they are seriously lacking in the volume level dept. I placed my phone next to this laptop in both tablet and laptop, and my phone easily drowned it out almost completely. The graphics power is barely there.. it should be able to play some simple touch screen games, or older titles from 10 years ago or more, but only on lower settings. Even turned down to low settings and 720p resolution it was 99% graphics bound and couldn't even average 60 FPS in the older Tomb Raider benchmark. The included trackpad isn't very responsive, and it glitches whenever the computer is restarted to the point that it won't click on anything until the touchscreen is pressed first, then the trackpad wakes up. The screen looks ok, but it's not very impressive. IMO the value for cost ratio isn't there for this for what I use a PC for, so I wouldn't recommend this to a friend unless they are looking for this exact set up and don't care about the drawbacks.

Good light laptop-short battery-long setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good lightweight laptop, however the battery lift is not great and it runs on the warm side. The initial start up was not too difficult, however, the initial windows update took forever. The laptop comes with the USB-C power cord only and a quick start guide. The startup/initial setup was simple and easy to follow directions. It did not take very long. Once initially installed and connected to my wifi I was prompted for a Windows update which took forever. Once installed I was able to download all the other apps I wanted and operate games as well as watch videos without issue. After using for a while though I was locked out and had to get my BitLocker recovery key, that was a big hassle. I had other issues of getting logged out from other games and not sure if it was the app or the computer. But it was several different ones so I think it was the computer/Windows. The fingerprint lock works well though. The battery seems like it runs down fast with usual tasks/apps but I don't have a full run-down time. My best estimate is 2 hours of normal use. Overall a good laptop that is lightweight with a short battery life. I would recommend for a light-average user, not a heavy user.

Look at with Caution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer itself is great but at the end of the day, it was running slower than anticipated, limitations I kept running into with trying to get setup and downloading programs for work, and I got hacked on a brand new computer just by downloading google. Not much of an Apple person as much anymore but Dell made a doozy.
