Power supply
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop works fine. One thing I don’t like is that the power supply doesn’t use USB-C, but a barrel (round) connector instead.

Excellent Computer For Back-to-School and Work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With back to school just ahead, many people will be looking for a new laptop for high school or college. With the Dell Plus 16’ FHD+ Touch Screen Laptop, people will have a powerful machine to handle these needs. Out of the box, set up is simple. The Windows based machine is like most people have used in the past. The Windows 11 Home version is native to the system, so you will have the basic intro questions to go through to set it up. After that, you are off and running. The computer has some jacks to allow you to connect additional equipment to it. There are two USB-c ports (but one will be used for power most of the time unless you have an adapater). There is also a USB-A port, an HDMI port, and a port for a 1/8” headphone jack. There is no Ethernet port so you will need an adapter if you want to use wired connectivity. The casing is very solid and rugged. Dell even advertises it as military grade, so it should be sturdy. This does contribute though to its nearly 4.5-pound weight. This is one negative I did find with this system. If you do use it for school or work, carrying it around may be annoying. There are lighter systems on the market. Ultimately with this system, it is made to do work. The battery is said to last up to 20 hours. This really depends on the type of work you are doing and a number of other settings, so I did not get this. However, I easily got through the day. The system also has a 1TB SSD. This makes the system very fast and allows one to load new programs quickly. The backlit keyboard and 16” full HD LED screen add to the computer’s appeal. This is not meant to be a gaming computer. Students could load up Roblox or Minecraft, and the system will do fine. But it really is not meant to be for high graphics, high frame rate games. The graphics are more entry level and not the highest resolution. Where this computer excels is with work. Whether that means schoolwork or office work, this machine is ready to go. Crunching numbers, running programs, using AI, and doing graphics on this computer is easy. This is the environment that it was meant to be in. In conclusion, I really like the Dell Plus 16” FHD+ Touch Screen Laptop. This system is sturdy enough to be bounced around a classroom or a boardroom and will last. The only real concern I have with it is the weight. It can be much heavier than the others, but this is part of the trade off for the sturdy design. I am confident though that this will get anyone through a high school or college level course. I recommend this product to people who need a back to school or office computer.

Mousy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the touch screen but don't like the mouse pad. The right and left buttons aren't as responsive or it clicks harder. My old Toshiba mouse pad was better.

An intermediate to power user's sweet spot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptops have seemed to make a comeback in recent years. The emergence of tablet computing looked like a clear threat to the laptop PC market, but overall, served only as a motivation for further innovation in this category. Many are learning that a laptop is much more useful at home than a tablet, and the workplace speaks for itself. The Dell 16 Plus looks to fit the bill by offering a large screen, full-sized keyboard, big trackpad, and thunderbolt ports wrapped in a tidy package. Opening the box, my first impression was that it is much more attractive than expected. It’s much sleeker than the images would indicate, and the silver finish is very consistent and gives the appearance of a unibody construction. It doesn’t have that slick, ultra-premium look, but it looks clean and slightly elegant. The screen is practically edge-to-edge, and the full-sized keyboard is welcome. The keys are a little smaller than on other laptops I have but first feel gives me some sense of comfort (we will see). The number keypad has even smaller keys than the rest of the keyboard – we will see if this becomes an issue. Also on the keypad is a fingerprint sensor key in the upper right corner – looks like Windows Hello fingerprint style. Then, there’s the trackpad – yes, that trackpad! It’s humungous by my standards. The biggest one I’ve ever had on a laptop. No need to turn up your mouse speed on this one! As for ports, you have a couple of USB-Cs, an HDMI, a USB-A, and the all-important headset jack. Not going to lie, I was giddy to see the USB-A, the full-sized HDMI, and the headphone jack. The fingerprint key doubles as a power button. After turning the Dell 16 Plus on, I was of course greeted by a slew of questionnaires and updates. Don’t get it twisted, either. Once you finish the initial Windows 11 initial start updates, you have a plethora of hardware, firmware, and software updates waiting for you in Windows Update. One thing Windows Update will do for you out of the gate: teach you how your laptop responds to workload. This laptop has an AMD Ryzen AI 750 chip. I will say this baby started the fan blowout right off the bat. The ventilation is standard bottom intake with the exit and the rear of the base, at the base of the LCD panel. I’m a little torn on whether I prefer a side exit versus the rear exit, but one advantage to the rear exit is there are no ports located where the heat is being funneled. How loud is it? Just keep in mind that you will have noticeable noise if you push this thing. Actually, I rarely had early use moments without the fan constantly on. Most of this time was accompanied by updates, mind you, but it’s notable this thing has an active fan, which is surprising considering the amount of RAM (32GB) and supposed processor efficiency. Typing on the keyboard took a little getting used to. The smaller keys were immediately noticeable, and it took a while to really feel comfortable. The keys were also a little stiff for my liking. I think typing is all about feel. This may be fine for others, but just didn’t quite fit me. The trackpad, although big, could use some work on the responsiveness side. It’s not sluggish, but inconsistent. It can be overly sensitive, it seems, and jump on occasion rather than move smoothly. Once again, this could be personal preference or just getting used to a new machine. The Dell 16 Plus obviously handles lightweight tasks very well – easily handling emails, web surfing, productivity software, etc. like a champ, and all on nice 16 inch screen. It also handles light gaming and media editing and creating without any issue. I think this laptop will easily serve an intermediate to power user. It doesn’t have a lot of bloatware (albeit McAfee comes preinstall – yuk), has a lot of screen real estate, a full-sized keyboard, and one of the biggest trackpads I’ve seen. I think this fits a power user perfectly or even a developer. Definitely worth a look.

May be intel is better than AMD.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The fan is too loud, and the laptop overheats. I will not recommend to those of you who need it for heavy lifting, such as development (SQL Server, Visual Studio, and other tools)

Faulty Laptop; Poor Camera and Speakers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer started glitching upon initial startup. The mouse stopped working for a few minutes. A few days later, the screen started flickering after a video call. Maybe it was just a faulty computer, but I expected more from the front camera and speakers. Low sound, speakers placed on the bottom, and the camera was low quality. I didn’t expect top notch specs, but for the weight, DELL should have invested more in those areas. Computers at this price range also have better battery life. I returned.

Be careful! a piece of garbage.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be careful! a piece of garbage. The battery had a poor performance, sometimes the laptop turned it off by itself. I though it could not be big deal; but I regrets it now, because before two months it is not working anymore. It does not turn it on. Now I can not return it.

Never again
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm only giving this one star because I can't submit my review without one. Opened my computer up to use and found out it was broken. Tech person reported he receives a lot of Dell returns due to the problem I experienced. I would have exchanged it but BB had nothing comparable. A real disappointment.
