A Laptop that hates to turn on.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within a few days the many issues with this laptop was apparent. It does not wake up from sleep at all, constantly have to hold the power button for a minute to turn on, and was running into frequent errors. Exchanged and got a HP laptop again. Never buying this brand again.

Powerful, verstatile, attractive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a beautiful laptop computer. Clean lines. I have the blue color (“Ice Blue,” in Dell parlance). Setup is as simple as ever. Plug it in, turn it on, and go through the setup process. I then check for Windows updates, and there are always at least a dozen. After most of an hour of downloading and installing updates, the computer was ready to use. With 32GB of RAM, a 1 TB solid state drive, AMD Ryzen processor, and AMD Radeon graphics, this is one fast, powerful, versatile computer. Throw in the Microsoft Co-Pilot AI feature (there is a dedicated key to activate this), and there is little that cannot be done with this PC. The 16-inch screen is comfortably large with clear, sharp images. The computer’s large-ness also means nicely-sized keys for those of us like me with large fingers. The display is a touch-screen, which worked well. I’ve never been a big user of touch screens if I can avoid them because I’m always cleaning fingerprints off of them, but to each his own. As far as external connections, there is the typical not-that-many situation common to laptops these days. There are two USB-C ports, one USB-2 port, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack. One of the two USB-C ports is occupied if the computer is connected to an A/C power source. The computer does come with a power supply as the only included accessory. For those in need of a quality, fast laptop computer that could easily function as their only computer, you could not go wrong with this Dell - Plus 16" FHD+ Touch Screen Laptop. The AI capability, which is becoming commonplace today, is a nice bonus.

What a deal!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Plus 16" out of the box is a nice machince, and well equipped for the money. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to run a Windows update or a Dell bios update once fired up. Per the usual with every laptop I've had the opportunity to operate the speakers are lacking any excitement. The case and screen are a nice size and the large backlit keyboard with numberpad are very nice. It's lacking a SD port which is a bummer, another bummer is that it doesn't have a door to close the camera when not in use. Those are my only few complaints, not enough to make me not want to buy it or recommend it. Dell fitted this laptop with 32gb pf memory and a 1 TB hard drive, that's pretty impressive. The video card is as well, performs well with light gaming, enjoying movies etc. The screen is nice and bright (also has touchscree!) and the laptop doesn't get very hot. The charge held for a full days use of and on use, gaming, web surfing and some photo editing. The power button is also the fingerprint button, but doesn't have the typical look that other fingerprint buttons have, it just blends right in. The value is amazing for what's included and the quality. Definitely a win!

Love the Screen and Numberpad
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow…. what an incredible 16” touch screen display. I also really wanted this laptop because it has the keypad on the side, I really need that for my work. Lets dive into the initial setup and overall experience so far with this laptop. Unboxing this was a pure joy. It is sleek yet sturdy. I would plug it in while you are setting up the laptop. Once you plug it in and power it on you will be guided through the setup. Super easy and intuitive. Note there will likely be a few software firmware updates to install after your initial set up. I find it is best to plan for this as part of your set up. I would not expect to use it to its fullest capabilities until you have given it a day or two of restarting and checking for updates. This is normal for laptops and if you can be patient and install these along the way you will be better off in the end \and have a better user experience once everything is fully up to date. While you are going through the guided initial setup there are several tutorials you can watch to help you explore the fun features of this laptop. I would definitely take time to watch them while the device is being set up in the background. One thing I noticed right away was there is a large space for your hands to rest beside the trackpad. The keys on the keyboard were a little smaller than I was used to but that is by design to allow enough room for the keypad on the right to fit in the same space. It is not an issue, just something I noticed. I have to be a little more precise when typing as the keys are a little smaller than other Dell laptops I have had in the past. I really like the screen size, the bezel is small and allows for a large viewing area. The touchpad is large and super responsive. There is a bit of a plastic sound when pressing (clicking) on the touchpad. Not an issue just noticeable since it is not a glass touchpad. I suppose this is an audible notification that you have in fact pressed hard enough to engage the touchpad when needed. Battery life is superb so far and I like the extra HDMI port included. Microsoft CoPilot is included and has a dedicated key to initiate it when desired. I have enjoyed my initial experience so far with CoPilot and can see how it could save me time on projects in the future. I had one scare during my install. It was working fine for the first day, but the second day when I went to turn it on I was presented with a BITDEFENDER screen asking for a 12 key code. I contacted Dell Support and was able to find the key in my Microsoft Account. Once I entered it I was back up and running and have not had any issues since. This could be concerning to someone with little experience and not sure what to do. Don't panic, Dell support can help guide you if needed to locating your key to unlock the laptop again.

Two initial problems, but still a solid performer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking for a new laptop for my wife. In addition to running our household, she also coaches a middle school robotics team so she needs to prepare agendas, and organize work. I also want a system that is lightweight, has specs that will last several years, has good battery life, touchscreen, large trackpad and a numpad. The Dell Plus 16 solves all of this at a decent price. Physically, this laptop is a little larger than most of the laptops in our household. This new Dell laptop has a 16" screen so it is a little larger in the length and width dimensions, but it is very thin at ~3/4 of an inch with the rubber feet. On the left side there is an HDMI port and two USB-C ports that offer power delivery. I'm so thankful for that. This means that I don't need to keep a proprietary charger around, I can grab any 65W USB-C charger and it will work just fine. On the other side, a USB-A port and a headphone jack. The keyboard has a power button which doubles as a fingerprint reader. The keyboard is backlit. The touchpad is quite large. It measures 3.5" by 5.25". The palm rest is slightly elevated, which allows the keyboard to be slightly lower so that the keys don't touch the display when closed. The monitor doesn't feel flimsy and holds the set angle very well. It does not allow greater than 180 degrees. During the very first bootup, I ran into a problem. I couldn't tell if the laptop responded to the press of the power button. I pressed the power button a few more times and used a long press. I thought I had a dead on arrival machine, but after another press I finally saw the Dell logo on the screen. My thought is that the first boot will take the longest and you will need to have a little bit of patience for it. Setup afterwards was pretty straightforward. I used the touchscreen for a few actions and keyboard and trackpad for the rest. The screen is nicely bright at 300 nits which allows us to take this laptop to bright light environments like classrooms without losing any details. The monitor is glossy and could probably use an oleophobic coating to keep away fingerprints. It has a resolution of 1920x1200 making it Full HD+ which is handy and I think is just right for this size of monitor. Performance wise, this Dell Plus 16" sports an AMD AI 7 350. It has 8 cores and provides 16 threads. The AI portion of the CPU has a Neural Processing Unit that gives you 50 TOPS. This is good to run local AI operations. While testing this laptop, it was handling all the productivity tasks with ease. No delays. Graphics wise, this has an integrated Radeon 860M. This is plenty for playing videos off YouTube or playing movies. But you cannot expect to play AAA games at full tilt. It just isn't what this laptop is targeted for. This Dell Plus 16" has 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This is more than enough for anything you throw at this machine. The storage is 1 TB of NVMe SSD. In the past, I would have considered the storage a little light. In previous situations, I would have bought a 2TB NVMe drive, used an adapter to transfer everything to the 2TB drive and then popped open the case and replaced the NVMe drive and been on my way. From my research into the manuals and support websites, this is still possible. However, I've been picking up portable SSDs lately and they are very compact and fast and enables fast transfers to other computers when needed. So that's my new solution for that. Here is where I come upon the second major problem I ran into with this machine. I allowed Windows to run all its updates. I was on battery at this point and after a reboot, the BIOS update was blocked because I wasn't plugged in. So after bypassing the screen after a couple reboots, I finally rebooted while I was plugged in. The BIOS updates took several minutes and raced the fan on the laptop. But the update triggered a Bitlocker recovery. I've dealt with Bitlocker recoveries at work. It's not super pleasant. If this presented to my parents, they would be quite lost. So I'll take a little bit of blame on this one because I didn't have the laptop plugged in to power when Windows Update probably disabled drive encryption for a boot cycle. But it still was an unpleasant experience. As I'm considering the Bitlocker recovery and the very first boot problems that I initially had, I have to take one star off for this rating. I consider these one-time issues, but they are issues that a normal user would probably not tolerate very well. Otherwise, this Dell Plus 16 has performed very well, has a nice sleek design that is very easy to carry around and generally feels like a more premium laptop. I think this will be a good solution for my wife.

Good, quality laptop; missing a few things
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a sleek, capable laptop that embraces the new wave of AI integration without jumping into ultra-premium pricing, the Dell Plus 16" laptop is a compelling choice. This newly released model is part of Dell’s latest Copilot+ PC lineup, featuring AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 350 processor and a NPU capable of delivering on-device AI functions at a level previously reserved for more expensive hardware. From the moment I picked it up, the build quality stood out. The "Ice Blue" finish leans more toward a cool gray in real-world lighting, offering a minimalist and professional aesthetic. Despite its 16-inch screen, the device maintains reasonable portability at around 4.5 pounds, with a well-balanced chassis that doesn't creak or flex during use. The screen itself is a 16-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) touchscreen with anti-glare treatment and 300 nits of brightness. While it lacks the higher refresh rates or OLED tech seen in some premium models, it’s more than sufficient for productivity, media streaming, and light creative work. I wish we could’ve been treated with 120hz due to the touchscreen, but the reality is 60hz is good enough for most. Touch input is accurate, and the display supports pen input for those who lean into sketching or handwriting. The keyboard offers a comfortable typing experience with a full number pad, though it takes a little bit to adjust to its slightly “stiff” feel. The touchpad is large and responsive, though the physical click mechanism feels a little hollow. Tapping, rather than pressing, gives a much better experience. Performance is where the Dell Plus 16 shines for me and where the value is found. The AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 is an 8-core, 16-thread chip with integrated Radeon 860M graphics. It may not be built for gaming or 3D rendering, but it handles multitasking, web browsing, and office workloads with ease. Plus, you can totally run games on it and have them work okay. AAA games even at low or medium settings you can get 30fps on, for reference. The 32GB of DDR5 RAM ensures everything runs smoothly, even when juggling multiple tabs or programs, though as you’ll find when opening the chassis up is not upgradeable. However, the SSD is, and the provided Micron 1TB SSD provides fast read/write speeds and plenty of storage for files, apps, and media. You’ll want something capable, storage and memory wise, to help the AI use in Windows Copilot+ a well. Battery life is solid at about 7 hours on a full charge doing real world tasks. The included ports cover most needs, with one USB-A, two USB-C ports (including charging), HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Unfortunately, there's no SD card reader or facial recognition, and the USB-C aren’t USB4. The overall lack of ports is disheartening, as there is space to have added them in, and not having USB4 is lackluster as well. Fingerprint login is the only biometric option. Audio performance is barely passable, though unsurprising. Onboard speakers offer clarity but not much bass, which is pretty typical in slim laptops. In terms of real-world experience, though, I’ve been happy. Performance is fast, the screen is sharp, and everything just works smoothly. I did notice that the keyboard feel and touchpad click could be improved, but these are small compromises considering everything else. Compared to similar machines like the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 or some HP Spectre models, this Dell holds its own in terms of specs and overall value, especially with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD baked in. Ultimately, this Dell Plus 16" laptop hits a sweet spot for someone who wants a large display, generous memory, good build quality, most of things needed for day-to-day usage, and forward-looking AI features. It doesn’t pretend to be a gaming rig or a high-end ultrabook, but it nails what it sets out to do. If you’re looking for a reliable, AI-capable productivity machine that feels future-ready without breaking the bank, I’d recommend giving this one a look.

Great laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this laptop for a bit and once you get it set up it works great. The screen is nice and bright. It has great color and is good size. I'm really glad more laptops are going to the 16:10 screens. The extra height is very nice for productivity. The build of the laptop is very solid. It's quite thin but never feels flimsy. The hinges seem like they will hold up well and are smooth all the way from closed to tablet position. The sound is surprisingly full for laptop speakers. It gets plenty loud and doesn't get a tinny sound. The processor and ram are plenty fast for anything you'll be running except maybe for the newest games, but this isn't priced or spec'd as a gaming laptop. The video card is not the fastest but plenty for watching videos or basic games. The one thing I did to help was change the stock 'minimum dedicated video ram' in the Adrenalin software from .5 GB to 8GB. This laptop coming with 32GB gives plenty of space to dedicate more to the video system and still never hurt processing. You can charge from either USB-C which is great. It still has a USB-A which works nicely for my jump drive. I have another laptop that's only USB-C and having to use an adapter for the mini jump drive makes it much less convenient. Overall this is a great laptop that I plan on using for a long time to come and I would have no problem recommending it to anyone looking for a capable laptop.

Great display and touch-screen too!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell 16 Plus is an all-around great laptop. It feature 32GB memory, 1TB SSD storage, an AMD Ryxen AI7 processor, Radeon 860M graphics card, and Windows 11 Home. These items combined equal a laptop up to just about any task. The overall unit is about 14" x 10", only 5/8" thick, and weighs just a little over 4 lbs. It has a 1920x1200 (16:10) non-glare display that is also a touch display! It's all packaged in a stylish silver aluminum/plastic case that feels sturdy, yet lightweight. It offers a full size keyboard that is backlit. It has dark colored keys with white characters that are easy to read, offer a soft-touch and nice "clickability". There's even a calculator button so no more searching for the calculator and adding it to the task bar. It has a built-in camera with dual microphones making it great for zoom calls or any other applications where audio/video are used. It has two speakers and although they only offer a few watts of power, they feature Realtek Sounz Real, which is impressive! The unit features one HDMI port, one USB-A, an audio jack, and two USB-C ports (one of which is used for power). This does limit it somewhat if you've got more than a couple of accessories. However, for an every-day computer, it looks great, the touch screen is sensitive and responds well, the mouse pad is good size, and the graphics card will accommodate most gaming! It's a super computer with more than enough memory/storage to handle just about anything.

16" laptop is well built and works great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice laptop! I am using it for work but I did use it for some gaming and it works fantastic. Out of the box it is very easy to setup. I did have to charge it right away which isn't a big deal. It turned on and I had it setup and online in a matter of a few minutes. One thing is it is a well built machine and has some weight to it but nothing to bad. 16" laptop I don't plan on carrying it around to much. The 32GB memory along with the chip makes this computer work flawlessly and fast. I use autodesk revit and work on very large commercial buildings. The model loaded fairly quickly and once it was loaded navigating around the 3d model was effortlessly and smooth. The model rendered nicely and I didn't have to wait like my other laptop I was comparing it to. The unit has 2 micro usb, 1 hdmi and a usb 3.1 port. Those seem to be enough for my use as I use a external usb component which also worked great. The screen and graphics were really nice and I was streaming movies as well as videos and the colors were very nice. I was watching an old tv series while I was working and didn't have any lag issues. The only issue I have is waking it up and using the fingerprint reader but it is just getting used to using those features.

Okay larger laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon unboxing the Dell Plus 16" Laptop it has a nice color and feel and is relatively thin for a laptop this large. I like that it has a full number pad, but I don't like that the mouse pad isn't centered. The 2K screen is pretty good and bright, and I enjoy streaming videos on it. And the touchscreen is responsive, but I don't use it very much. It can fold flat, but I would have liked it to fold entirely over like a tablet if you're actually going to be regularly using the touchscreen. Performance is pretty solid with the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 cpu and 32 GBs of ram. On my second day I encountered a huge issue with the laptop where it wouldn't boot normally and gave me a blue screen requiring a BitLocker recovery key and the whole process was just a pain. Why is a brand new laptop breaking like that? Anywho, overall it's an alright computer for doing everyday things and the battery last quite a long time. You can handle basic games or ones that are cpu dependent just fine, just don't expect to play anything more extreme.

Good all around laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great "Do All" laptop. Has a full 10 key keypad on it, so it's great for productivity. The keys are responsive, though a little on the heavy side for a laptop. I like that for the solid feel, but some laptop users may not. The screen is bright, and viewable from several angles. Nice when playing media and someone is off to the side a little. The touchscreen took some getting used to for me, this is my first laptop with that feature. It's responsive enough to be completely functional, with little lag. Wifi and bluetooth connections are fast, and easy to do. Battery life with moderate usage is great. Impressive even in my opinion. Heavy streaming use of course will drain it faster, along with lots of multitasking. It also had no issue connecting through USB-C to a universal docking station I have. While it's not a gaming computer, you can still play some games, albeit on low settings. The speakers are lacking in a big way. However, the bluetooth connection is fast and pretty much lag free. Connect a bluetooth mouse, Keyboard and even speakers or earbuds. I found a small bluetooth speaker to be more to my liking. Other than the speakers, the only issue is with the Microsoft software. I don't like nor want to have to have a Microsoft account to use my computer. There is no way around that currently. There was an issue with Bitlocker, which I made sure was disabled. Somehow it got enabled and locked me out of my laptop. Having to take the time to go into my microsoft account, get the key and disable it again is a pain. For that reason and the lackluster speakers, this gets 4.5 stars.
