Bad Bluetooth

For the most part, the software runs which is good. But, the Bluetooth just doesn't work consistently. It will work for awhile then just disconnect. I will then get it to reconnect before it disconnects again. Finally, after an hour it just will not connect again. I've tried trouble shooting it but it just does not work. I don't think I will buy another XPS , because I expect the hardware to work.

Dell is Scam

Warranties are just scam. After wasting 4 -5 hours they will suggest you a way which is completely impractical. Dell scammed me for this laptop.

1 year, smarter but still a PITA, pain in ...

The same problems still crop up all the time However, my visits to Dell support have dropped significantly, Recently, my win 11 explorer took another nosedive very frequent issue, Earlier my camera and microphone had to be reinstalled, I am always on the verge of doing a reset on the whole OS and wasting a great deal of time dealing with ridiculous issues. However, I will add it's light compact design, even with its rare earth magnetic field Is nice for people who don't have vision issues. Am I one big grape, which still exists Is it's unreliable? USBC ports of which there are only two and one has already become just a charging port, not a data port And the other cannot handle high speed transmissions. But overall, if this unit goes on sale for, let's say, 799 and you need a quick fix laptop, that is in fact, very portable and compact and superior in speed, I would definitely consider it

Light, almost too light.. and quick.. Near perfect

The 13.4" screen, should give you an indication of the size of this laptop. The screen is edge to edge, we are talking just a millimeter or two, of frame, the rest is all screen surface. First nit-pick, the screen picked up the slightest of touch of my finger and oils, so have a micro-fiber to keep it clean. First big plus: it charges with USB-C connection... YES!!! finally, not locked to a proprietary adapter. Now the down side: There are only two USB-C connections (one on each side). So if you are going to ever need to connect any more then two devices (or one when you have power), you will need a hub. Plus, it comes with a dongle for a 3.5" headphone if you still need that corded experience, and a USB-C to USB-B adapter, so no need to get those if you need them. Silent running, make no noise other than audio when you do something to cause audio. The hardware is silent. A sleek silver look, gives it a great appearance. Now for my biggest down (and the reason why it is not 5 stars), it is almost too light. and the bottom is too smooth. on my primary work surface and my kitchen counter, the laptop slides when using it.. very very easily So will need to adjust how I use it on those surfaces. This battery life is really long as all, haven't been able to completely drain it yet.. So this is going to be a great machine while traveling. Windows 11 fully loaded and all ready to go.. just need to do the standard updates on first load, which can take some time.. .

Excellent Laptop for Business Travel and College
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This laptop is excellent for travel and other portable applications where the user wants decent power, excellent battery life, and a thin, lightweight design. It can easily fit on a seatback tray table or a school desk. The battery life is about eight hours when streaming video. Obviously, some applications demand much more processing power and will shorten that time span, but streaming eight hours nonstop is appealing on a plane. Boot time from cold to the log-in screen is about twenty-five seconds and another five seconds to the desktop. Charging is provided via USB-C. One mild negative is that this machine has two USB-C ports and absolutely nothing else. They include a USB-C to USB-A adapter and a USB-C to audio adapter for wired headphones. For many people, that should not be an issue when on the go. It has excellent Bluetooth capabilities that give extended range to some headphones that typically had poor range when connected to other computers. I assume the thought is that someone should have a USB-C dock if they want any other ports. Since they are so ubiquitous and cheap at this point, it is a realistic idea. WiFi is also excellent, connecting to my network at 1201 Mbps. The keyboard layout and spacing are comfortable. Keys are full-size, easy to press, quiet, and backlit. One of my tests is to see if my hands can instantly start typing without making mistakes. It passed, so I am happy. The touchpad is large and in a convenient location. It is one continuous flat surface with left and right click areas at the bottom. There are no alternative methods of moving the cursor, such as a touchscreen. Without a touchscreen, the screen has a matte finish which I prefer. Glare and reflections are minimal. This is especially helpful in bright airports and hotel rooms where lighting is out of your control. Video quality is excellent, as expected. 4K video is crisp and clear with low latency, but this is not a gaming machine, so GPU power is very limited. While excellent for business, school, typical household use, and streaming, do not expect gaming performance. If you are familiar with benchmarking terms, it comes in at surfboard level for gaming and workstations, but it is a destroyer in the desktop category. As an above-average computer user, I would not use it to replace my main desktop, but I would not hesitate to take this on vacation and business trips. This is the first laptop I have seen in a while with excellent memory and storage capacity straight out of the box. With 32GB of memory, this can truly multitask. I have had situations in the past where I made a presentation on my desktop but struggled to run or edit it elsewhere. With this much memory, I have the power to edit those files on the road, leave multiple browser tabs open while researching topics, and still have plenty of room for other apps. With a 1 TB NVME SSD, there is also plenty of efficient storage capacity. Sequential read speed is testing at 1,193 MB/s. Sequential write is 1,018 MB/s. From both a storage and memory perspective, this machine should be great for years to come. The processor is decent for now, but not amazing. The average performance now equates to excellent battery life. In the future, that might be the weakness that leads to an upgrade. I still love the computer because it is so efficient, thin, and lightweight by today’s standards. One side note is that the outer box arrived with a big dent in it. Thankfully, there is a protective inner box holding the computer itself. The inner box was untouched despite the significant damage to the outer box.

This laptop comes with Windows 11 installed. This laptop only has 2 USB ports, both are Type-C. One of these USB ports is dedicated to powering the laptop. The laptop comes with a USB Type-C to Type-A adapter, also included is a USB Type-C to Mini headphone jack. The Dell XPS 13 has a touch pad located in the center in front of the keyboard. This touch pad has the standard Dell touch to mouse click. Across the top of the screen there is a camera built in that is Windows Hello compatible. The power button also had a fingerprint sensor built in. I found the fingerprint sensor to be faster than the Windows Hello camera capture. The 1 terabyte solid state drive is large enough to last a while before you run out of storage. The Iris Xe graphics card provides stunning color. Bluetooth allows you to add additional Bluetooth enabled items. The battery life with light usage is said to be about 12 hours, I got about 9 hours regularly. The Dell XPS out of the box loaded rather slow. After the lengthy download of updates, the speed booting from a power off was still slower than expected. The speed after booting is blistering fast. I would recommend the Dell XPS 13 to family and friends.
