Packaging and presentation are both top notch. You can tell the XPS is a premium product within Dell's portfolio and if you weren't aware, the packaging and presentation make it apparent. The screen is sharp and vivid -- nothing less than you'd expect from a 4K OLED display. The trackpad was "interesting" - it's visually appealing to not see a dedicated cutout area for the trackpad, and it works intuitively enough to where you don't feel like you're missing out or having to take on a learning curve due to this design decision. Under the hood, this computer is a beast with a higher-end i7 chip and 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The reason for the return? The heat dispersed from this laptop is insane. It is uncomfortably hot enough to where I wouldn't put it on my lap. And for context, I wasn't doing anything crazy on it. The most I was doing was web browsing and running apps from the Microsoft Store. The heat extends thru the keyboard as well. It would also cause the fan to kick on all the time and it emits a very high-pitched squeal as it runs. I remember the first time it came on, I was looking around trying to figure out (1) what the noise was and (2) where it was coming from. I was also immediately concerned with an odor that was omitting from the box when I opened it to take the notebook out. It was quite foul - I didn't chalk this up to a product defect as I had purchased an open box so in all fairness this could've been attributed to external factors but I decided to go ahead and set it up and play around with it because I did have the option of doing an exchange. Given the heat/fan issues, however, I opted to just return the laptop because I don't think that's exclusive to this open box. I do wish Dell would offer this with other processor options (i.e. AMD) if they are able to achieve a better thermal experience and if there had this option that did not get as hot or run the fan quite as often, I may have considered an exchange.

I have been through many laptops as a photographer. I need a device with a color, correct screen, ample amount of storage and speed. Everything I looked at on the window side was pretty much a gaming laptop. I couldn’t stand the heat and the noise in the in accuracy of the screens Which led me to the Dell XPS 13! This laptop is a beast 32 gigs of RAM. I have the 3.5 K screen with a 1 TB SSD and it screams! I’m able to edit 4K video edit all my photos in Lightroom, edit audio in Podcasts, well without breaking a sweat it’s truly mind blowing! I will see if you get one be sure to purchase a small USB-C hub as it only has two thunderbolt four ports, do yourself a favor and go get this!

In my household, I cant have enough laptops. I have two middle school aged kids, a toddler and four adults. We also run a small business that requires having devices that are both portable and durable. This fits the bill for us. To say i am impressed by it's performance would be an understatement. Even the unboxing proved to be an experience for me that I was not expecting. When this was finally delivered and I sat down to open the box, it was impressive. I took some photos of the actual unboxing of this laptop. It was well packed, well presented and was just the start to the experience I've had in using this laptop. Once I opened it up and let it fully charge, I did the initial setup and then began downloading apps so that I can actually test the capabilities of this laptop. This thing is so powerful for such a compact laptop that I was really shocked by the performance of it. It's fast, doesnt overheat and the battery lasts for hours. The thing that probably surprised me the most is the audio of this thing. I played several different types of music after downloading my audio apps and for a little laptop, the sound was amazing. I dont say that lightly. It was incredibly loud and I didnt experience any distortion. I played with the different settings until I found the one I liked best. This only has two inputs, both of which are Thunderbolt 4, so that is something to keep in mind if you normally connect a lot of peripherals to your laptops. There are many hubs on the market for reasonable prices that will give you more connectivity, so I wouldn’t let that dissuade you if its an issue. If I had one partial negative about this is the trackpad. Most laptops have a defined area for the trackpad, but this one is basically “embedded” into it. It took me some trial and error to really get the feel of how to use it, but I think it is worth mentioning. This thing is sleek, slim, ultraportable and very powerful for such a small device. I think Dell hit it on the head with this one and I would definitely recommend it.

You have to love the size and weight. It's compact and doesnt weigh you down. The processor is fast and 1TB of storage is fantastic. The negatives? Battery life is not very good. If you are using an application on the internet you might get an hour. The keyboard is weak. The keys are hard to find and do not have a solid feel.

      Dear ScottM,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We apologize for the battery performance issues you are experiencing with your Dell XPS 13 Plus. It's important for us to hear about inconsistencies in our products for consideration of future development. Below I have provided steps with the full articles that can help you improve the battery performance of your laptop.

Here are the steps to help improve the battery performance of your laptop:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana, type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn the Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further the Battery Saver feature.

This laptop has been a joy to use. I had the previous generation Dell XPS 13 and this one is much faster. Great design with the keyboard and touch pad as well. The OLED screen is amazing. The only thing I can ding it with a little bit is the battery life. It's not bad per se, I was just hoping it would be a little better. It still lasts plenty of time for my usage patterns. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Dell XPS Plus is a great laptop. Blazing fast and very sleek. I love it so much that I have stopped using my other laptops. I carry it eveywhere and feel its so light and have not given any issue since last couple of months I have got it. The person at Best Buy was really supportive in researching the laptops and answered all my questions satisfactorily. It worth buying in store with such nice experience. I even got the Membership becuse of the service I received and it gives members discounts on some of the products which is quite competitive

It's a great device with all the latest specs. The only downside, if I may say, is that it heats up quite a bit on prolonged use. Still manageable though! The screen is the highlight of this device. Its so amazing to watch Netflix and Youtube. Another highlight of the device is the invisible trackpad that perfectly adds up with the bodyframe of the laptop. After 2 days of getting used to it, it was a breeze to use the trackpad. The haptic feel made it just like any other laptop! If you have the budget, go ahead with the product!!

This is a great little machine that packs a punch. It's the only PC I've seen in this form factor with 32 gb of Ram. Only knock is the battery life/60hz monitor. I got about 5-6hrs while only doing video playback, but with how nice the screen is that's to be expected. The screen is beautiful, but only offers 60hz. Would have love to seen 90hz-120hz at this price

I've had some dell and HP laptops before but never this good. The new 13th generation intel with 32memory certain is more power then expected for my needs. Set up for the laptop was quick and easy. (The people at BB offered to even help but set up was easy) With 1 TB of space I have plenty of space for my work and class needs. I use to get 15" laptops before but tried the 13" a little while ago and loved it. (The sales rep told me if I waited a little the 13th gen intel was was coming out. The 12th gen is really good, but when the 13th gen can out it was actuality cheaper to get then the older model.) The OLED screen is amazing, the picture quality is outstanding. I've watch a few movies on it for trips and WOW. I've had many apps open on it and no lag time at all, even while running some video software. The touchpad has been great. I admit it took a little getting use to it being there, not outlined as the usual box under the keypad. But very good. The only downside was just 2 ports. Not really an issue I just picked up a separate USB hub for it.

I upgraded from a Dell XPS 13 9310, 11th gen i7-1165G7, 13 inch OLED Touch, 16GB ram, Intel Iris Xe, 1TB SSD, Windows 10 Pro. (2020) The Dell 9320 is a beauty, super-fast, excellent bright display, and has a better battery life than my previous XPS. Build quality is impressive. I do miss NOT having a headphone jack or microSD card reader that my old machine had. The redesigned keyboard is different and quiet when typing -- you'll either love it or hate it. I'm still on the fence whether this new design works for me, but I can say my typing speed has slowed a bit from the keyboard design of my previous XPS. Sound quality is great. I do appreciate the extra real estate with this 13.4" display. Wish Dell had made this a 120Hz display. The hidden trackpad I've had no problems using it. The capacitive touch function keys reminds me of the now obsolete touchbar of the Mac Pros except they don't change based on what app you have opened. So far no problems with them, pressing on the function key will show the F1 to F12 keys. I won't dive into the performance, there's youtube and reviews that quantify the specifics. I got this XPS as an open box, and what I paid for an excellent condition one makes this upgrade a super deal for all the upgrades received. I'd give this laptop a 4.5/5, but since we can't give that as a rating, I'll give this machine a 5 star rating overall. Very happy with this purchase, will be enjoying this XPS for sure until I upgrade again in another 2 years or so.

I pretty much only use my laptop for photo & video editing, so I need something good as the megapixel count on my cameras keep going up and slowing down my computers. My previous Dell XPS is now 8 years old and taking too long to edit photos. I’m tired of lugging around a 15” so I’ve been looking into the 13” XPS plus because of good online reviews so when the prices dropped right before Black Friday, I jumped on the deal and haven’t regretted it. It boots up fast and runs everything very well. It can edit the RAW files from my 36 MP DLSR with ease. The OLED screen is even better than the screen on my old XPS and it’s so slim and light I can take it everywhere. Best thing is when I need a bigger hard drive, I can swap it for a bigger one unlike an Apple laptop. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fast 13” laptop.
