Lots of plusses, one big minus
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell - XPS 15 15.6" FHD+ Laptop - Platinum Silver This device comes loaded with lots of desirable options, including: • A 13th generator Intel Core i7 processor, • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, • 16gb of memory, • 1TB of SSD storage, • Windows 11 Home, • Two microphones, • Two speakers, • A power key on the keyboard that also supports fingerprint login, • Two Thunderbolt 4 power delivery ports, • A locking port for security when/if needed, • A headphone connection port, • An SD slot, and • A lighted keyboard. The display is sharp and the unit’s response time is, as you’d expect given the specs, very good. The unit walks you through setup and gives you lots of options to connect to your other devices, including your phone. It downloads your phone’s information (contacts, apps, etc.) so you can choose to use them on your computer, just like you use them on your phone. A full charge indicates that it will give you about half a day’s running time (12 ½ hours) when operating on the battery. The unit also comes with a small two-port adapter that plugs into one of the existing slots and provides both a USB-A connection as well as an HDMI connection for a monitor. While I was impressed with the unit overall, there was one very disappointing omission – the unit does NOT come with a touchscreen. In my opinion, a $2000 unit demands a touchscreen. Lack of the touchscreen made setup so much more of a chore for me since I wasted time touching the screen out of habit in order to select the various setup options offered, and then, when nothing happened, I had to remind myself that this computer’s screen doesn’t respond to touch. I don’t know who made that decision, or why, but I don’t feel that it was a wise one. Lack of a touchscreen meant that I felt I needed to install a mouse, once I finally got the unit set up using just the scroll feature. Now that mouse is just one more device that I’d have to pack when/if I ever decide to take this unit on the road. As a result of this missing feature, which many users probably consider to be a desirable standard feature at this price point, I’m penalizing this unit one star for the lack of a touchscreen. So, what would have been a five-star review now becomes four stars.

Dell is Incredible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell has become one of the best brands overall for laptops. My experience has been increidble thanks to the great technology behind each hardware. The speed of the laptop, optimization, sofwares, graphics; every aspect of it in general has been top notch. I have already bought Dell laptops before and I have never been disappointed with my purchases. I would definitely recommend this laptop and the brand itself to friends and family.

Engineering Major Here
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Going into my freshman year of college, and using this laptop. Dell laptops are some of the best laptops to get, especially for STEM majors in college. They allow you to run certain programs; which you’ll need for various courses. Great specs for the price!

Flickering screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My XPS 15 9530 is less than 2 months old and the screen randomly flickers with use of the touchscreen. It happens every time I use the computer. I’ve wasted no less than 5 hours troubleshooting with Pro Support on 3 calls and uninstalling and reinstalling Windows in addition to troubleshooting on my own. Nothing has fixed the issue. This is my only work computer and today its been out of commission for 2 hours uninstalling/reinstalling Windows.

Laptop died 1 year later
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop died after being just over a year old. Dell support was terrible, 5 attempts, 30 days, to finally fix it but that fix died 10 months later. Dell's response, you should have bought a longer warranty. I got better longevity from a chrome book.
