    Screen Flickers

I have owned Dell computers since 2003. This is my third Dell and my second XPS laptop. I spent $2000 on this computer and am SOOOO disappointed that in month five of ownership the screen began to flicker (or power surge) when the screen is white like when you're typing. It's incredibly distracting. Anytime it happens I lose my train of thought and get infuriated that a computer I spent so much money on is a piece of junk. When the problem first started to occur I consulted online chat rooms. I did the recommendations of some of the people on there. No luck. I called Dell's phone number for help. Since I've owned it less than a year the computer is under warranty. The number is for the Philippines. The first three times I called the person said, we have a special department for XPS owners. I thought, "great they are taking care of those of us who spent $2000 on their top end computers." But each time they transferred me it sent me to a place where the line would disconnect. Huge waste of time and endlessly frustrating. Finally I got through to someone named Shella. Pretty good English, but never really understood what was wrong. She had me reinstall the BIOS among other things. Nothing worked so I backed up my files and she had me do an entire wipe of the computer. That involved me spending four hours reinstalling Office, Quickbooks, Printer drivers, bookmarks, etc... Huge pain in the neck. And in the end? The screen still flickers. Even worse now than when I reached out to Dell. My options at this point because I've owned it for 5 months are live with it, send it to Dell for a month to see if it's covered (and most likely pay to have it fixed when it's not), buy something else. I spent so much money on this that I can't see buying something else soon, but I know one thing - this is the LAST Dell I will ever buy. It's a shame. I love the way the computer looks and feels. But the 4k screen is really buggy. I think it has to do with the touch screen which ironically I NEVER use. I had to buy it because you can't get the 4k screen in a non touch. That's what I get for buying the top of the line. Guess I should have just bought a Latitude. Next time I'll get a MAC. Will pair easier with my IPHONE anyway. Stay away from this Laptop, especially the touchscreen version. It's complete junk. And when you need help (which you will) you can't talk to someone in America who adequately understand your issue.

    TERRIBLE

I ordered a Dell XPS 15, i7 core, 256 SSD and 8GB memory. My first day using it, I was confronted with a blue screen of death IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I immediately contacted support who provided a very good program to try and fix it - although you can never know if a blue screen of death is really fixed. 2 weeks later I started experiencing issues with the touchpad - it would just stop working intermittently (VERY FRUSTRATING) - eventually I found a thread describing my issue - looks like a bad feature that means you cannot use the laptop on an uneven surface. Today I received ANOTHER (!!!) blue screen of death saying DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. I emailed support again as I decided that due to the software and hardware failures I would like to return the product for a refund, but by the time I made the request (due to all the back and forth) I was told it was 'is outside return and refund period'. They didn't even respond regarding the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION issue.Dell should not be selling such badly made laptops for so expensive and then refusing to take them back!!

    Continuous blue screen errors

When researching for this purchase, I read a good many reviews complaining about constant errors resulting in the blue screen of death. However, it seemed that the new versions of this machine had overcome these problems with driver and other other updates. When it when on sale for $200 less than typical price, I bought it. I have owned many Dell computers personally and have always used them at work. I have suffered my share of hours on the Dell support lie, but generally had good luck with them. I hoped I would get a solid machine. Unfortunately I have been disappointed. I have use this machine now for 2 months. My first BSOD came after 3 days. Since then I have had an increasing number of these episodes, including 3 today for Unexpected Store Exception, Memory Management, and Critical Process Died. All are related to the machine having difficulty properly storing and retrieving data either on the SSD or in RAM. All drivers and other Windows updates have been accomplished. Still these errors persist. I am now going to break down and call Dell Support. They will go through hours of having me do this and that to try and get the machine to work over a 2 week period. Finally they will send a new drive or new RAM or reinstall Windows. All of this is ridiculous for a $2000 computer. This is exactly why people buy Macs. This model is not yet fully baked. Way too many bugs and problems for this level of machine. Like others have said, when it works, it is great. Beautiful screen, fast, though it takes longer to boot than I expected. However, I would not buy it again if I had it to do over. Recommend against.

    Fast, beautiful display but

I'm going to just list the cons. Space bar-common problem of "sticky spacebar" that is VERY annoying. Got it fixed once and now its happening again. 2 finger scroll stops working in Chrome. No one can seem to fix this problem. Super annoying for a $2K computer. Spend the extra money on a MacBook pro and save yourself some frustration.

    Constantly Freezing

I decided to try Dell again after many bad experiences in the past. Well, I shouldn't have. The computer constantly froze, just out of the blue. Only turning it completely off and back on would fix the problem -- temporarily. All drivers and Bios were updated and still this problem existed. Looking around the Dell and other forums. there are many people with this problem right now. It is not a matter of if it will freeze, just a matter of when. It froze 10 times in a two hour span before I decided to return it. Hopefully Dell will get that issue resolved, but I will not be buying Dell again.

    Burned out

Very esthetically pleasing laptop. Cannot stand up to the heat it generates when playing games etc. The heat burned the motherboard to death in 2 weeks. The fans were running 100 percent cconstantly. It died out, returned it. Bought something else. Totally bummed out about it.

    Touchpad jitter, pauses, and jerkiness

The touchpad is virtually unusable due to stutter when using the touchpad to control the mouse. This makes the machine virtually unusable without an external mouse... defeating the purpose of a laptop. Spent hours with tech support and online only to still have the problem. Don't waste your time with this or Windows 10. Going to return it now.
