At that point my clock disappeared (no option to turn on). Microsoft support could not figure it out. I was told to update windows from 20H2 to 21H1. The update Failed. I was online with tech support from 6pm til 3am. It wasnt until a tier 2 level agent took remote control of my laptop. An found out there were multiple updates that needed to be installed before windows could update. Agent said laptop was on shelf along time before sold to me. Make sure product is up to date before purchasing.

There are typically a number of operating system, firmware, and BIOS updates that release between your XPS leaving the factory and it arriving in your hands. Depending on your usage, these may require multiple restarts to finalize. We recommend you proceed as it is critical these updates are installed so you have the best possible experience to date. We are sorry to hear that you are not too happy with your Dell XPS 9510 laptop because of its USB connector, uncomfortable touchpad, and also because it is overheating. We will share your comments about these issues with our quality team so future improvements can be made.
To help with overheating issue, we would recommend making sure the BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page so you can check for and do any applicable updates. Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX.
