Nice receiver easy to setup wish it had more power

My Yamaha receiver died after only 2 years. After doing some research I decided to buy my first Denon unit. I went to the Magnolia store and listened to the unit understanding of course that it would not be quite like my home. Bill who was my sales rep asked me what kind of speakers I had (BOSE surround system which is approx 10 years old). He found some similar speakers in their demo room and it sounded good. Bought this unit and was very surprised how simple the setup was! It even had a tone tone generator so you could verify that your speakers were connected correctly i.e. the rear right was actually the rear right. Also it comes with color coded speaker wire tags that match the speaker plugs in the back of the unit. Here is the most important thing to do..the unit comes with an area microphone AND a quick assembly tower to put it on. TAKE THE TIME and do all 8 setup sound checks. Once that it so done and I cannot tell you how STUNNING the sound is in my condo. The music seems to be all around you-just AMAZING!!!! The wi-fi link to play internet music works without a hitch. This is just a GREAT unit. I do not have a 4K tv but a 2 year old sony and I really believe the picture is crisper and better. Yes it is a pricey unit but remember you have also gotten some future proofing with it as it will handle 4K TV. ENJOY!!!

I expected 'booming sound' of the TV and I don't have it?

not very impressed it keeps shutting off during an action scene in movie. best buy really is not very helpful not sure if I buy anything from them again. they recommend this product and refused to help.

Denon - very poor customer service. Purchased unit less than 9 months ago. HDMI stopped working. First time on hold, then they automatically disconnected me. On hold again for 20 minutes and no response. I had a Yamaha before with no problems and wanted to upgrade to better sound system. Worst mistake I ever made.

My 20 year old speakers have never sounded better! Calibration was sort of annoying but worth it. The first receiver I had was defective and had to go back to best buy to get another. Updating the firmware was automatic, but I recommend hard wiring your internet connection. I lost internet connection using wireless during the update and the receiver went into an update loop making it so you have to either reset the receiver (doing the calibration and settings all over again, some say Denon asks you ship it back to get reflashed) or hard wire your internet and resetting your modem (pray that it comes out of the loop eventually). Had to do research on that problem through forums cause Denon tech support isn't available on the weekends. The update loop seems to be common with Denon receivers (this model and previous ones). If you're connecting your components through the receiver, you can only bypass one component at a time. So, if I didn't want to use surround speakers for one of my consoles, you would have to manually choose which input to bypass rather than simply choosing to have the sound through the tv or through surround (could be annoying for TV's that dont have an HDMI output and only a digital aux output like my Samsung with a one connect). With some of those quirks, it's the only reason I didn't give this feature packed, high performance receiver a 5 star review.

This receiver is top shelf. It has power, it was relativly easy to set up, lots of HDMI inputs, Its a quality piece, but. The internet radio and possibly the wi fi conn itself could be improved. I only have itr a few days and haven't put it thru a test yet. It seems like Pandora worked before I ran the update. If there is a fix for this I'd like to have it. For the price, it shouldn't have any flaws.

Let's start with the only bad point, Pandora is having known issues and not working properly. Should be fixed soon. That's it, the only bad point and only reason it does not get 5 stars. Sound is what you expect from Denon, top notch. Have it set in 5.2.2 and the Atmos slays. Can't wait for the DTS-X firmware update.

I am having trouble with the 4K Upscaling picture quality. I need to exchange it for another. Not happy with this.

I wouldnt buy anything with hdmi cables on the systems they are junk.

First and last Denon product. Got everything hooked up and only had rear speakers on cd source. Nothing else worked- no sounds, no picture, nothing. Doesnt a reputable company like Denon have any quality control checks??
