Great picture, horrible audio
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My complaints with this receiver are purely with the audio and menu interface. The picture looked fine. Simply put, the audio quality output from this receiver was terrible. Atrocious consistency to volume changes between levels 0 - 40 (inaudible), 41 - 65 (moderately listenable) 65 - Max (loud and distorted). It was impossible to find a sweet spot for the volume. Also, I’m not sure what everyone’s obsession is with Audyssey EQ - took 10 mins to set up and it made everything sound muffled and lack vibrancy. The menu interface also left something to be desired. Very clunky and dated. Returned for the Sony STR-DN1080 and am so much happier!

No batteries

Mmmmm

I am in the middle of watching a show and it switches to a different application. Aggregated. Wish I could return for a better model.

Regret changing from Onkyo to Denon

Will NOT output 5.1 audio to any TV

Which means you can only get crappy audio it if your TV has good quality speakers or are using a soundbar such as a Bose or Sonos. Denon customer support is absolutely atrocious. They expect you to mail in your receiver to a service center and pay a ridiculous amount of back and forth shipping.

Bad Denon Reciever

When I bought this receiver, I couldn’t hook it up to the old plasma I had, so it sat in the box for over a year and a half. As soon as it was connected to the New tv, it was hard to setup. Finally got it setup and the darn thing would not power off.

Cheap Bluetooth Antennae

But one of the antennae broke off as I was unboxing it (like it was cheap plastic). I immediately boxed it back up and returned it to get an Onkyo brand receiver.

Complications

Denon receiver

I have contacted Denin including Best Buy and only option is to send off for servicing we can take 4 to 6 weeks. Won’t buy the brand again.
