middle of the road
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.first i would like to say this is a good receiver. setup was a breeze (although it took over an hour). the receiver sounds good, is attractive looking, and has enough power to operate my mirage speakers. the receiver is a nice cap to the entry level receiver before jumping into something a bit more expensive. that being said, i am returning this receiver tomorrow. the sound, while ok, is just not what i'm looking for. i upgraded an older denon receiver for the 4k pass-through and for the newer processing formats. my older receiver is a much higher end receiver from denon and has a MUCH cleaner sound through my speakers. there is also a tiny bit of a delay (i'm guessing processing speeds) with the sound versus picture. this is also a 6ohm receiver and my speakers are 8ohm, so i am a bit scared that either the receiver will be taxed or my speakers will and that it will result in problems with damage down the road. please keep in mind that this rating is for ME. someone else may find this receiver meets their expectations, and while that may be true i am just looking for a bit more. there is absolutely nothing wrong with this receiver (in the 3 days i have had it.) pros: easy setup, attractive, ample power for volume cons: sound is a bit muddled, much higher THD than i'm used to, processing speed is a tiny bit slow.

Easy set up, great sound!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Pioneer VSX-LX103 and returned for multiple technical issues, I swapped for this and glad I did. Never owned a Denon, but now I am a fan. It works perfect with my LG C7 OLED. It's easy to set up and use and sounds great, I have it hooked to Cable, 4K Blu-ray and Apple 4K TV with an older Bose home theater speaker system. which still sounds great.

Versatile receiver

Mixed Feelings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded a much older Receiver for 4K and Atmos compatibility. Picked this based on the feature set and price point. In terms of the feature set, it is top notch for a receiver in this price point. I need to be able to do things likes channel customization options for things such as setting a pass through frequency for each speaker component etc. In that regards, it meets my expectations. Where it lacks is the interface. No other way to put it -- the user interface is terrible and clunky. The remote is quite finicky and freezes on occasions. The on-screen interface and control panels are very dated. And when listening to Music via IPlay or WiFi, changing settings to the audio parameters results in the system going back to the main screen and shutting off the connection. Very annoying. Other than that, the actual receiver has enough features for 95% of those in the market. Did I mention the interface is terrible? As far as recommending it, that is a hard one. On one hand, I would recommend it due to the performance and feature set. On the other hand, the interface is so poor and lacking that I could just as easily recommend another receiver with similar specs but a better interface from another manufacturer like Yamaha. You will pay a bit more but it might be worth it.

Very good receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This receiver is a very good receiver from both a price and features standpoint. It has all the HDMI inputs I need, and it even has a phono input which is very hard to find these days. This unit replaces an Onkyo TX-NR777. The Onkyo was definitely a louder sounding receiver compared to this one, but it had a problem playing back 4K blu-ray discs. The Denon doesn't have that problem. I have 8 ohm speakers so this may be part of the reason that I'm not getting all of the volume that I'm expecting. My next investment will be to get 6 ohm speakers to see what they sound like with this receiver. All in all I'd say that this is a solid mid-tier receiver.

Posted .Hey Ezeatl,
Thanks for leaving this great review. We are happy that you love your new unit. Your ears will need to get used to the new sound once they are adjusted it will sound even better. Also once you do decide to upgrade to 6ohm speakers you will notice the sound difference then as well. Thanks for sharing your review with us and the community. Welcome to the Denon family.

Setup Won't Complete
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker terminals in the back are awful. It's very difficult to connect the speakers, unlike the nice connections on the back of my Sony speakers. Setup was going along fine until it reached the Network Setup step. Now all I see is "Please wait..." with an animated blue circle. I have been waiting 30 minutes - nothing. There is nothing on-screen to indicate what it's doing. Product support is not 24/7, and of course their hours are closed when I am home from work so that is stupid.
