    No Roku power on through CEC

    No complaints about overall functionality - I didn't get to use it long. Does NOT work with roku "1 touch play" (HDMI-CEC controlled power on) to power on the AVR when a button is pressed on the roku remote. It happily passes the signal through to the TV, which turns on. And this worked fine with all of my Onkyo equipment. The Roku is the only device attached, other than the TV. When powering OFF the TV, the Denon AVR successfully powers off through the same CEC controls. Similar the roku remote's CEC volume controls work. It's only power-on that doesn't work. That's a critical show-stopping feature for me.

    Bad HDMI out port

    This is a good receiver for the price I paid, when it works. I purchased this in October 2019 and I've had to send it back for repair twice. For the same problem: bad HDMI out port. It will work for a while, then suddenly go out. The first time it happened, in July 2020, I sent it to the Denon Factory Service Center (Panurgy in NJ). It worked fine for one week. The the port went out again. So in August 2020 I sent it to Denon another repair center, United Radio in NY. Came back and worked fine for almost 8 months, and the same problem AGAIN. So this time I'm taking it to my local Best Buy to see if that repair channel will be any better. If I could, I'd return it and get a Pioneer or Sony. But I just have to live with this until the extended warranty runs out, and it wouldn't surprise me if I have to have it repaired 2 or 3 times again before then. NOTE: I'm not allowing Best Buy to display my purchase date because they have the wrong date.

      We're very sorry for the poor experience. The problem could be communication based (poor EDID negotiation) or a voltage fluctuation out of the AVR's tolerance causing a short to the HDMI output. I would ask Panurgy what they found and what they repaired. denon

    Works ok but had some sync problems with LG tv /audio that took a lot of research and customer service calls to understand.

    Bought this to replace an older Yamaha that we were using in a new home setup. Setup was easy but never could get the Audyssey speaker calibration to work correctly. Yamaha has a similar calibration so I was familiar with the process. Even after numerous attempts and video tutorials, speaker calibration and sound were awful. Took it back and purchased another Yamaha which worked perfectly.

    I thought that I was upgrading when I purchased this receiver. My 4 year old Sony STRDN 1080 died recently, which I absolutely loved. As far as the Denon goes, I just couldn’t get the sound just right, I ran the setup multiple times and tweaked every single setting. It just has to harsh of a sound for my taste. I will be returning this and buying another Sony.

      We're very sorry for the poor experience with the X1600H. We always tell our customers to match the AVR with the speakers you plan on using. If your speakers are designed to be very bright sounding, then you should go with a warmer sounding amplifier to balance that out. I would look at our sister brand Marantz as those amps are much warmer sounding than Denon. The SR5015 would be the equivalent to the X1600H. denon

    Stay away from Denon products. This purchase was a replacement for an 8 year-old similar feature and price Denon home theater receiver which completely stopped working. Less than a year into the life of this replacement model, audio/visual problems ensured. We traded out and upgraded from our 8 year-old TV and replaced our 8 year-old internet network extender, thinking that the issues had to be related to them and not the newly-replaced Denon home theater receiver. No such luck! The issues were troubleshot to a faulty HDMI output on the Denon receiver! Even though I had purchased the extended warranty, I couldn't be bothered with disconnecting everything from the receiver, packing it, and sending it back to Denon - all to be without a home theater receiver for 6-8 weeks! We ultimately ate the cost (simply to stop the bleeding with Denon products) and purchased another brand of home theater receiver. Spare yourself the frustration (and expense) and choose a better made and more reliable brand receiver from the get-go!

    Would not buy a Denon product again after about 1.5 years started to not work would go off. Have no sound etc. Customer service was ridiculous to figure out how to get it repaired. Had to send to NJ for repair. Cost over $100 to send they had it approximately 3-4 months, then said the could not repair the unit and sent us a refurbished unit. When my husband set it up the zone 2 would not work. Finally realized it was the output for zone 2 not working on this refurbished unit they sent us. I’ve given up and went to purchase a second receiver so I could use my outdoor speakers. Not worth paying another hundred buck to send it back to them. Piece of junk for how much this cost.

    Cant get the speakers to all turn on at the same time. I press power on and only half the speakes come on. Then i press another button and the rest come on. In order to turn it up i have to switch back and forth to get the volume even so that it sounds good.

    Right out of the box a connector didn’t work. I could switch my surround sound speaker to a different connector and it would work fine but the front let connection doesn’t work no matter what I try

    Bluetooth issues

    Worked just fine for three months now I get a "please wait" message that never ends whenever I switch to the bluetooth function. Hopefully I don't run into more issues after I send back to Denon for repairs.

    System went into "protection mode" on third day of operation and never came out. Wasted a ton of time on set up and then trying to get it to work again. Protection mode was really high on the list of FAQs so this is probably a common flaw with this model. Ended up taking it back to Best Buy for my money back. Web link to the owners manual goes nowhere. Denon is slipping big time.

    Worked for 9 months then broke

    Worked well until 9 months later it wouldn't stay turned on. I tried disconnecting all cables and initializing but nothing works. Its stuck on power protection mode for some reason. Now I have to cough up $60 to ship it to one of Denon's repair center, which aren't actually Denon by the way, and wait who know how's long till I get it back. I thought spending more for the higher end X series was worth since it would be less likely to break within 3 years but I was wrong.

    Poor Quality and Warranty experience

    Difficult experience with product. Main audio stopped working after 6 weeks, beyond Best Buy Elite status return period. Warranty administration involves returning product to an authorized service center with long lead time for repair. HEOS is extremely complicated and difficult to use.
