HDCP Errors, HDMI CEC wonky with issue

Sound is ok. Set up is straightforward but HDMI results and set are fairly bewildering. It does a lot of wonky and unexpected things. I have a LG C1 55, a spectrum cable box, Ultra High and Premium High speed cables and there are timing issues with HDCP handshakes and sometimes HDCP errors. It's not an EZ solution out of the box. What's weird, was, I bought this hoping to avoid the same type of HDCP errors and audio issues I was previously getting with SONOS Arc sound bars. All these manufacturers should unite and demand better HDMI / HDCP workability for their business and their customers. Because right now, HDCP / HDMI (mainly CEC) is bewildering and frustrating for consumers. It's also infuriating. Sound quality is good so three stars.

I bought this receiver because of the earc funtion and it works great. I can hook everything up the the TV (which also has earc) and the sound comes through perfectly. Easy to setup. One thing to note is the owners manual is online, which is kind of a pain because to print it is over 200 pages, but I managed.

The more I play around with it, the more I enjoy the features. Not super powerful, but it works well in a small to medium sized room. For the money, its worth every penny. I am currently running it as a 5 speaker setup with the television (Sony A90J) as the center speaker.

This system has been so easy to use and has enchance my family's viewing experience. The totaltech member they sent out made everything seamless for install and was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend it if you dont need too many speakers linked to it.

    Great entry level receiver

Even though one of the reasons I purchased this receiver doesn't work for me, I am still giving it 5 stars. Ultimately it does everything I needed it for. I wanted an entry level 5.1 receiver that supported IR in on the back panel. That was the main reason I went with this over a model in the Denon S line. I have an older Denon X6400h that is connected the same way as my 1700h with a Harmony Hub IR extender. Sadly, the 1700h rear port will not function so I ended up using an IR blaster pointed at the front of the unit. Denon needs to change their terms for bass management. People get too confused when it comes to big and small speakers. A simple description of what this really means would solve so much confusion. Basically all a person needs to know is if you have a good capable subwoofer, 9/10 times you should be setting your speakers to small so the subwoofer can do its job correctly

Works well with a lot of capabilities. We use it for surround sound for the TV and ancillary speakers. Can play music in one room while playing TV sound in another or play the same in both rooms.

Overall it is a great receiver. I just don't like you have to have it go through the TV to be able to set it up. Otherwise the sound and picture quality going through this system is amazing.
