I'm not a big 1st person shooter gamer, as they typically will make me dizzy when playing. That said, for the short time that I am able to play this, it has to be one of the most addicting 1st person shooters I've played ever. The deal of the day price I got it for made it an easy purchase, but now that I've played the game, I think I'd even purchase it at the current price and probably has me thinking of getting the sequel, once I've finished this. I can't speak on the online gaming, as I don't play online that much, but seems to me that this is a "must have" for 1st person shooter fans to have in their library.

Hours of entertainment, and while a bit repetitive worth the cover charge. Think Halo as an MMO and you'll get the exact idea of this game. Once again Bungie has delivered a relentless alien foe out to conquer the Earth (and it's adjacent worlds) and a variety of modified (and armored) human defenders to save the world. The game play is crisp and clean, with a few exceptions in areas where I would love to be able to turn on the flashlight (I'm talking the moon caves here) but the option seems to be restricted in the regions it can be used. There's also the standard issues faced by all first person shooters of "where am I getting melee attacked from" when mobbed, but it no where near as over complicated at some of the other first persons I've run into on the PS4.

    Basic Shooter to Kill Time

Get Destiny if you just want to shoot things up. Honestly this game is just about the visuals and killing time. After fifteen hours the fun of the game dies down and you just do the same thing over and over. I don't even know why I was doing things half way through the story because the story is less than mediocre. Mulitplayer is somewhat fun however very unbalanced. The game is like Borderlands but simplified so I find that fun. I say Destiny is one of those games you play when you can't think of anything else to play.

    Enjoyable FPS

If you like the Halo games (this is made by the creators of Halo, Bungie) or Borderlands I'd recommend this. If you aren't a fan of FPS games this won't convince you otherwise. Destiny has a lackluster and short campaign. The over world missions are repetitive and the "bosses" are pretty uninspiring (generally over-powered regular enemies). That said, the game plays very smoothly and is enjoyable. The focus of this game is community. Even when you are playing the story or go into a world solo you will run across other players in the gameworld doing their own thing. It's an interesting drop-in drop-out type of gameplay, a persistent online world kind of like a MMO or Dark Souls game. The competitive multiplayer is fun, but in it's current state is not good for a higher level of competitive play due to the lack of options. You have no control over the map and cannot place rules like those found in Call of Duty or Halo. You select a game type (king of hill type, deathmatch, and team deathmatch) and off you go. This is great for casual players that really don't care, but it will never find its way into professional tournaments due to the lack of control. Altogether I'd say 7.5/10 or 8/10. Fun game, but nothing groundbreaking.

Destiny is indeed a fun game. Is it as ground breaking and as good promised? In my humble opinion, no. This game collapsed under its own weight. To much hype and not enough substance. I didnt like playing the same area over and over and over again...begin to feel like pulling teeth. If you are dedicated and have plenty of time to spend though, this game is very rewarding. It could take upwards of hundreds of hours to max out your character, and this means countless repetitive missions. I personally didnt have time for that. A more fleshed out single player campaign would have served this game better, but online play is where its at now a days.

Alright, so this game really didn't make a ton of sense to me right from the start. I mean, it kind of just throws you in and then the story develops and you're expected to either pick it up along the way, or I suppose they just assume you'll get bored and wander off. That's a bold move considering that a lot of people are used to a spoon-fed storyline. But I'd say that the gameplay is what kept me from disappearing. The various areas are quite large, and so there's lots of "wandering" to do if you're not objective oriented. Gun-play is pretty decent, and there's definitely a large amount of variation in the efficacy and handling of various weapons. I'm not too far in the story as of yet, but I'm hooked enough to keep going.

After reading all the hype this game had I can say it's a good game but it may have been overhyped. It's not bad but after all hype I was expecting more. I wish there were more planets and the story was more thought out. The story gets a little repetitive at times with . With that I still find it fun. I'm a big Halo fan and I can see some similarities to Halo. Some of the guns sound like the Needler and same goes with some the vehicles reminding me of the ghost from Halo. Oh also there's something called a ghost which reminds me of the The Oracle from Halo. The main thing about this game is upgrading and unlocking weapons/gear for your guy. You unlock armor that improves your character. After every game it seems like you're unlocking new guns and gear. The game also has 3 different characters or classes (I can't remember the official name for them). They all have different abilities and do things better than the other. Once I unlocked online after reaching Level 6 that's where I spend most of my time. This game is different than other shooters where everyone has access to pretty much the same guns with the same stats. This game the lower the level the worse guns you have and higher the level the better guns you have. If you are a low level don't expect to win a firefight against a higher level. I learned that the hard way when I was going against a team with all level 20 or higher. Now the armor you have doesn't mean anything online only the weapons. Overall, I really enjoy this game and would recommend it to anyone who needs there shooter fix.

For the most part, games that make you buy DLC I am leery of, however with this game, it is a must have. I bought Destiny, day one on XB1 last year and quickly got bored of it. Maxed out my character to 30 within a week, now however, the DLC Expansion Pass has almost tripled the content available in the game. It is truly required for you to fully enjoy the game, however it is so worth the purchase. Trials of Osiris, The Prison of Elders, Bounties that actually matter and another RAID!!! This game has truly set it's spell on me and I love every bit of it. It is truly the best shooter on the market and it will stay that way with more DLC in the pipeline. Get this game today, you will not regret it!!!

The action is excellent and fluid, fast but the story and voice acting is kinda weak. The game updates alot which is annoying and it's all about being online.

The first version of Destiny (some call it "Vanilla Destony") is a great game in itself. The story can be done in 4 hours, however the real meat of this game comes in its customization and online multi-player. You will spend hours upgrading your Guardian (your character) and battling alongside (or against) friends. After seeing the new expansions, this version is a bar ebooks edition of what Destiny is truly capable of. I'd you're in a budget, this is a great game to spend many hours on. However, I strongly suggest looking at the latest editions of the game.

Destiny is great after second chance

I started playing Destiny on Xbox One solo. I didn't like the story and thought the game was complicated trying to figure out all of the ways to level items. I stopped playing. I then got it on PS4 and started playing co-op with a friend of mine. The game is gorgeous looking. Sometimes I just look up into space to admire the beatuy of the locations. What a difference a fireteam makes in completing missions. It was so much more fun and yes I still had to google how to complete a lot of missions and google how to level up a lot of items but that is what makes it great. If you work at it you can do great things. Fun game now after the second chance.

Awesome gameplay, short story mode. The only thing that sucks is that you need the dlc to completely level up, basically forcing you to pay for it.

Destiny has everything required to be a real blockbuster game. However, the lack of base content holds it back from realizing its true potential. Everything else about the game is excellent. I especially love the look of the game, the gunplay, and the atmosphere. The game plays like Halo, but more fluid and you truly feel a sense of isolation while you're exploring the worlds. To fully enjoy this game, you must purchase all of the DLC. In total the game will cost you over $150. However, the people who are into it really seem to love it.

This is what makes or breaks a game for me, and in Destiny I honestly find it a bit of a mixed bag. The firefights are fun and for the most part well done. However, they get to be a bit repetative. It seems that each mission is a bit more of the same. Run from point A to point B, kill everything in between and then defend your ghost as he acesses some ancient computer. I feel they could have used a bit more imagination to add some variety to the missions. Especially since you are pretty much forced to repeat missions as you level.

I started playing this the day it was released and I haven't put it down much since. It is very similar to a lot of FPS games out there but also has enough different features about it that you don't feel like your just playing another CoD game. The layout is pretty straightforward: start a level and complete the mission. While doing this you may stumble across gear or weapons and you can hold on to quite a few, which is nice, and switch between three at a time. Same with gear. That feature reminds me of games like Diablo or WoW where each weapon/gear has different stats and benefits so you have to chose which one is better and you can dismantle the old items for Glimmer. The levels so far have been a good mix of easy to controller smashing hard, in some cases players are able to interact and help you even if not part of your group up to a certain point and it lets you get into a certain degree of multiplayer even in single mode. The PVP side is fun but I have found that a lower level can have a lot of challenges. I have ended up in a room (as a level ) with level 17's and 20's even. Although it says level benefits or something have been deactivated it still seems like it's hard to kill the higher levels whereas they seem to be able to take me down very easily. Not sure if this is the case of if I just had a few rough matches like that but it can get very frustrating. Other than that this was definitely a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking for a game with a lot of action and challenges that has both a strong single and multi mode.

I was pretty disappointed with this game as the "first true next gen experience". It looks amazing, but with a new console comes (1) the expectation of what is new and different from previous game boxes (2) and new franchises. Frankly I feel like not only was this game more of the same and hence a poor indicator of what the next gen is capable of, but I really have no interest to see this as the first in a series of like-minded titles.
