Great fun with an amazing atmosphere!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay can easily vary from easy to very difficult (but you get to decide that through a simple and easy to use interface). The controls are fluid and the ambience really immerses the player in the gameplay. A definite recommendation for anyone who enjoys fantasy/Sci-Fi first-person (and third person) action with RPG (role-playing game) skill trees. At times the enemies can feel like damage sponges but the visceral melee takedowns feel solid. Overall the story is not too long 12-14 hours (if you play it in sections), but the multiplayer features add much more re-playability that makes this game a great buy.

good action, main storyline is pretty short.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good gameplay, a lot of nice variety of moves and weapons. While the main storyline is short, PS+ members can get multiplayer team missions that continue the fun. So far, I'm enjoying the game, great to hop on for a mission or two with friends.

Solid console shooter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny has impressed me. I don't expect much out of console games with few exceptions, and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I want to "keep playing Destiny." -The graphics are great, but should be by the time we hit PS4 -The gameplay mechanics for person(s) v environment (PVE) are solid and the Strike battles keep me wanting more, and I'm excited about the possibilities of Raids. It's not difficult for parties to understand what to do next, or how to get there. The fights are balanced well for the recommended levels, and fighting enemies above your level adds challenge in a fun way. -The different locales are well-designed and unique. -It doesn't feel like a pay-to-win system, meaning that I don't feel cheated out of content for not having ordered the more exclusive editions of the game. Though the expansions may change that later, as of right now, I'll give Bungie the benefit of the doubt. As for as my dislikes: -The Crucible PVP needed balancing to make the games fair, such that level 5 characters wouldn't be totally overwhelmed by lvl 20 characters. I understand that reasoning. As a result, though, it feels like they made all characters die more quickly. I've been one hit killed on several occasions by characters one third my level, usually through their special attack, and with little recourse to avoid the incoming doom. It can be frustrating, but I still find myself in the Crucible every now and then, so it isn't all bad. Kill streaks really give you something to celebrate as a result. My preference would be that all characters were harder to kill, and I'd increase the points awarded for things like kills, assists, etc., so that games wouldn't take forever. -Loot drops can be hard to find and identify depending on the area you are in. Uncommon loot has the same basic color as special weapon ammo, and I could envision players leaving them behind if their ammo is already at capacity. Rare items can seem to be Orbs of Light, with much the same problem, and I haven't seen a legendary drop, but I suspect it might have much the same color as the heavy weapon ammo drops. I would suggest using different colors, and in some areas with high growing foliage or lots of debris that makes it harder to find loot it would almost make sense to have holographic images depicting the nature of the loot above the drop to find and identify it better. -For a game which is trying to bring social gaming into the Triple A fold through mechanics of the game itself, Destiny doesn't do a great job of allowing for spontaneous connection with strangers. Voice chat is understandably not global, but there should be context commands in game that allow players to communicate via voice chat or invites without having to go to a menu, or your ps4 OS. This is a minor quibble, as communication is possible, just seemingly more difficult than it should be. To add onto this, I do wish we could have larger parties than 3 for PVE elements outside of raids. Despite my rantings, I would give this game a 9/10. It's a solid game in need of minor tweaking, but at release, it's incredibly reliable, fun, and without game crashing bugs (leastwise that I've experienced).

Great game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having played this game for several hours, I can safely say that it was worth a day one purchase. The concept of the game is great, but as of today is a little lacking (the addition of the upcoming DLC may change this). There is a lot of content such as missions, PVP, ect., although alot of the missions take place in the same locations (again, DLC and updates may change this). The visuals and atmosphere are top notch. Overall I'm having a great time with the game and would give it in it's current state an 8.8/10. Game has potential to be one of the greats!

So close, yet so far...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So much hype! Not a bad game at all. The gameplay is solid and certainly worth it IMO. I just feel the game is lacking content. It was marketed as having more content and I feel there just isnt that much. But I Cant. Stop. Playing. It has become pretty grindy at this point but I Cant. Stop. Playing. Seriously. Bungie has done a fairly decent job at addressing issues post-release, so I like to hope that this game will realize its potential soon enough. Overall, worth the purchase. Just dont have the crazy expectations that came with the game pre-release.

Great Birthday Gift
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My friend was hesitant to play for many reasons but once he played he was hooked. Glad I swooped this up during a deal week & having the gamers unlocked sure helps as well. Turned out to be perfect gift. The game isn't perfect but not many are, still tons of gameplay though.

Over hyped but addictive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The advertising budget made it bigger and awesome than it really was. It's a very good shooter game with a unique mmo feel. But that's where it hits a snag. In game communication is very difficult. You basically have to have friends or find forums to get a group but before that you have to find their PSN ID so you can add them to the chat! No matchmaking? It was a bad move because it's difficult to get a raid group going. But once you meet randoms and start raiding, it's fun. But you will have to get over that large roadblock I mentioned earlier

fun shooter....lacking story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having never played any bungie games in the past, I was cautiously optimistic about this game. I read about how great the story was supposed to be and bought the game on a whim. I trusted bungie to make a fun and challenging shooter but it was the promise of open world game play and deep story that enticed me to buy it. They did not deliver on the story; it's as if the game was rushed or changed at the last second to accommodate a release date. Overall it is a fun and beautiful game, but it does not live up to the hype (which is pretty hard to do in any industry), and a deeper story could make the game so much more enjoyable.

Better than everyone says.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't listen to the naysayers. Yea it can get repetitive but that's for the people who have been playing it since day 1. If you get this game now you're going to have a ton of stuff to do until the next DLC comes out. Do yourself a favor and pickup this and the season pass.

Not a huge fan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Storyline is not that exciting. The game is definitely a multiplayer experience. It's fun with a group of friends, and a grind without. The developers say the real game starts after you hit level 20 but after that you are just doing raids and strikes to grind for better gear. Leading up to release I was almost expecting a Borderlands style game with a lot of loot to collect and trade. Loot is actually a little rare in the game. Some areas of the maps feel empty and lifeless. You can't trade items. When you are walking around you can't communicate with others as there is no text chat. You can use a mic if the people are in your party. Overall it's just a game I don't feel like grinding away it. Others find it awesome. I'm not seeing it.

Pretty good, but could've been better.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has been pretty good so far, but it had/has the potential to be a whole lot more than it is. I was hoping for a slightly different experience than what was delivered, but the gameplay is still overall pretty good.

there's a reason everyone is playing this
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is great in a lot of ways. The few ways its not are hopefully addressed. As the game itself goes it is very dependent on the online multiplayer aspect. For that reason don't expect a grandiose story or something more than a backstory. This game takes itself more serious than Borderlands and it shows, but that's not the bad part. The bad part is when farming doesn't become fun. If you have a group of friends already playing this then get it, otherwise get it anyway and you'll find someone to play with.

Gorgeous shooter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game keeps me coming back for more! There are many features in this game that will keep you coming back. Level 20 is not the end but you will have to farm to get your level past 20 and farm more to increase your legendary gear so it's important you find materials early and often. You'll thank me later. The story is nonexistent for now, not sure if it will always be that way but honestly when a cut scene did happen, all I wanted was for it to be over so I could get back in the action. This game is best enjoyed with friends because there is no in game chat not even when your playing multiplayer. You have to have a fireteam created and you should just use PS4 party chat because you won't hear your friends clearly. It seems to be the case with all PS4 games for the time being though. You'll need to level up to 25 using light from armor to get the complete experience. Level 25 is where Destiny has all available modes open to the player. Is relatively fast to level up when you complete bounties and play strikes. You'll also increase rewards by playing the game more and more. Killing a specific enemy type, playing on a planet, playing a strike, crucible, it all counts towards something much greater. They do this by grimoire cards and you can check the status of them by going to Bungie.net or the companion app. While farming is not the most fun, it's not that bad either. The drops are dependant on your characters level and grimoire card progress, not the level of the mission your doing. They are constantly adding daily and weekly missions that have modifiers that crank up the difficulty. Although the entire game is go here and shoot all those people and do that hundreds of times, it's all about getting that next drop that makes your character look and play awesome. If you're in it for the long haul you just might enjoy it. If you're just going to scramble through the game as quickly as possible and hit level 20 and give up then this game isn't for you. The amount of customization with each of the three classes is decent and each class has two different subclasses to play. Just because you play as one does not mean you can't play as the other at any time. You will though have to gain that experience and level up again but it will give you more flexibility in play style of you do it. Unlike most games your decisions aren't permanent and can be modified of you get a piece of gear that changes your attributes. I enjoy the game as do many others. The are many people that don't care for it. If it doesn't sound like it's your type of game then you shouldn't get it. It doesn't change the face of gaming but it's enough for someone like me.

Online Story and Multiplayer are Both FUn
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is fun playing with friends or other but the story lacks everything because it is difficult to understand. It really isnt good but everything else makes up for it basically becoming the best and leveling up.

great game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny is a great game overall. The graphics are pretty, the gameplay is nice and the multiplayer is fun. The story on the other hand is kind of forgettable, and for a massive online shooter, there is a major lack of communication between players. Sometimes it feels like there is not much to do in the worlds except for simple missions, but it is fun to explore and find new caves. This game is best played with friends, and I could see how if someone were to play this alone they may not have as much fun with it.

Destiny is a fun but frustrating game.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have fun playing this game but there are some choices they made that I don't get. Like the rewards, even know they patched it is still stupid. The graphics and music are perfect. Story not so much. Grinding after level 20 is actually something I like but they don't give a single player a way to get to the top level of 30 without having 5 other friends to play the Vault of Glass. Which you can if your lucky get armor that will get you to 30. If you don't like grinding and PVP. Then this game is not for you.

Destiny!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is great for group play! Get all your friends together and get to gaming. Great graphics as well. Only thing is it can be a little grindy and demanding at times to get some of the things you want in the game.

good but mediocre.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gameplay itself is very well made it is like Halo with ADS. The campaign is trash loosely connected missions that gives you information only at the beginning and the end of the mission. The actual story is non existent until you download an app the lets you look at the Grimoire cards which are cards you get from completing things. Such as missions acheivements etc. But the Multiplayer is really fun even if it is a bit unfair. But I would recommend it to a friend because it is the funnest with friends.

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So much more than a first person shooter. The graphics are beautiful and the multiplayer is awsome and much less expensive than the Xbox subscription. I am not a huge first person shooter fan but this game I love.
