Playstation is awful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should have bought it for Xbox One. Play station is just not a good game system and people online don't care about the community

Best FPS Out!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my absolute favorite game. Great storyline, great online play, great weekly updates. Great game if you have multiple friends who love to play an online juggernaut. Raid modes are incredibly fun. This game made me put all other games aside and i still choose it over all my newer released games.

Was fun, but now its so repetitive its annoying!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I bought Destiny when it came out and it was a really fun game and had such great potential, but then you hit level 20 and it takes forever to level up and all the weekly missions and such are the same missions before just harder. It takes forever to kill bosses and when you die, you get to start that boss over which sucks. I was able to get to level 20 probably within 3 or 4 hours so it doesn't take long at all. I have played by myself, but I have played more with friends which does make it more fun of course, but you end up doing the same things all the time. The story is terrible and I couldn't really follow it. The graphics and the shooting mechanics are pretty good and for all online game it actually does pretty good but they should of made an offline mode too. The loot system to me seems so cheap as you go for so dang long in a mission or strike or whatever and you get something stupid or something you already have or wont use. The PVP is actually pretty fun, but not the best. As well the loading screen is your ship flying in space...well what else is the ship used for. What is the point of getting ships in the game...to show them off at the loading screen...well that is just a dumb idea. I did buy the first 2 expansion passes and well that was a mistake as it seems like there was hardly anything added for the money I paid for them and now this new DLC coming out is $40 ya no thank you. They really want your money it seems like. I will not be purchasing anything else for this game. I would rent if first and see if you like it or just play until you hit level 20. Save your money for something better.

Decent, but not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NOTE: for some reason Best Buy has turned my parantheses into pound signs; I can't seem to get around it First of all, the fundamentals of this game are very well made. The shooter mechanics and the visual and aural production values are excellent. However, everything is not tied together very well. The story comes off as kind of cheesy. The writing just isn't good enough to sell it. I guess Bungie was going for a Sci-Fi adventure where everything is so futuristic and/or alien, that things fall into the realm of fantasy, which is perfectly fine, but the writing didn't sell it well enough. It wasn't believable. Now as for the gameplay, for the most part, it reminds me of what I don't like about MMO's, and it lacks the community/communication aspect that would make an MMO more engaging. The missions are repetitive (and as is the nature of an MMO/persistent character building game#, you don't change weapons, gear and ability as part of a level designers vision of how you're going to be challenged throughout the game, instead, you keep the same weapons #or types of weapons# for long periods and you use them because that's what you have, and you swap them based on what you randomly find. So #generally speaking# enemy encounters really can't be tailored with any particular challenge in mind. It's just a bunch of random shooting at stuff. It gets tiring to be honest. I plan on completing the single player game and continuing to play as new content comes out, but I'm not really going to put effort into finding the best gear and what not, because it doesn't really allow me to do anything other than fight other enemies that are simply stronger but otherwise the same as older enemies I've already fought. Now at this point, I should say that this type of game probably does appeal to a bunch of people out there. There is stuff to find, gear to upgrade, skills to level, and adventures to be made of your own volition. It's just that that really has to come from your own motivation and mentality. I don't think the game itself provides enough motivation to see it through if you're not already drawn to this kind of gaming. Now that said, I did end up enjoying the multiplayer a lot more, but it is sort of an odd experience as well. The gear and abilities you earn in single player carry over to multiplayer. So it kind of sucks when you're level 7 and and some other players are like level 24 and almost literally flying around the map with magic powers that can kill players in an instant and have weapons and other special abilities that other players just don't have access to. It kind of works itself out once you also grind the game and level up, and then you too can match them, but still it's a weird choice, and I can see a lot of players getting frustrated and abandoning the multiplayer if they try it too early. I may have played multiplayer too much as I got to level 20 before I was even 1/3 of the way through the single player game. So that sort of might explain my earlier criticisms about the single player game. Now that I'm maxed at level 20 #you can't level up further unless you find special gear#, fighting enemies in the missions seems like a "waste" and many of the enemies aren't challenging anyway because now I have armor and weapons that outmatch them. Thus, I'm just running through, trying to complete the #unfortunately# uninteresting story. I really don't know; maybe it will get a lot better later. I heard that the raid is pretty good, as it actually takes planning, puzzle solving, etc, but I'm not going to organize six friends outside of the game and practice for hours to do it. It's a shame they didn't have more interesting content like that in the single player. It's kind of sad because for the most part, outside of the writing, it's a well made game. It just so happens that it's not very fun. Or perhaps it's just not for me. Maybe the game is what it needs to be. After all, I simply have never found an MMO to be fun, but lots of people enjoy them, so maybe it's just that Destiny is not for a gamer like me.

Great with Friends!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, let me get one thing out in the open. Yes it's made by Bungie, no it's not Halo. So many people bashing it are saying it's a Halo clone. Ok, so the Ghost = Spark and the Fallen/Hive = Covenant and Flood. That's where the similarities end. The game is aesthetically pleasing. The alien landscapes are great and the detail in some of the levels exceeded my expectations. The multiplayer element adds another layer of complexity and enjoyment. The loot aspect means you have to take time to explore the environments and makes it worth the effort. The story line is rather mundane, but you don't always have to follow it. You can go off and explore or "patrol" as they call it for a while to level up and then come back to the story. I will say that there are certain quests that can feel rather repetitive; especially at the beginning, but once you get off Earth, things pick up quick. the crucible adds a different flavor to the game by letting you compete against other guardians for prestige which can buy you uncommon and rare weapons, armor, etc. Highly recommend it especially for the newcons since there are many games for them yet.

Great Game But Always Changeing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny has probably the best gameplay of any ps4 game. That being said, why didn't I give this a 5? First, the graphics aren't great. There are a lot of other First Person Shooters (FPS) that have better graphics (EX: Medal of honer). Second, the game developers are constantly changing the game. Their goal is upsell you expansion packs. They add all these things and TAKE AWAY things to try and make you pay money for features that you already had. In my opinion, that shouldn't be allowed. It's very annoying. But... if you have a PS4 buy this game, there is nothing else like it.

Great first person shooter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is great and addicting game. Combines the feel of halo with the aspects of a MMORPG. There is one downside, the further you get in the game the more it requires you play with friends to accomplish missions. You can play with a random group but it is very difficult as the content requires a lot of strategy and cooperation. Overall I had a lot of fun and spent a lot of hours but a lot of my friends were playing too which is what made the experience what bungie intended.

Grindfest game of the year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do love this game, from the customization to the game's fluid FPS mechanics. But, if you are the type of person who needs to reach a game's highest level, you will find yourself grinding for hours on end. This game requires luck more so often than skill. You rely on a lottery-like system in hopes of acquiring equipment that will give you lots of "light" to level up. Soon, you will find yourself not caring about how your character looks, but only caring about the amount of light a piece of armor gives you. The story itself is a joke. Get from point A to point B with repetitive "defend the little flying robot called 'Ghost' from the waves and waves AND WAVES of bad guys." The game attempts to make people go back to their stories with "daily events" in order to; you guessed it, have a chance at legendary armor. The multiplayer experience of this game is quite fun. Reminiscent of Halo mechanics, and making the player feel rewarded from completing his "bounties". Despite the amount of grinding required to reach a high level, playing with friends in strikes is really a great coop experience like none other.

There's potential if you're willing to put in time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Take the sci-fi stylings of Halo, the gameplay of Call of Duty and the RPG and social aspects of World of Warcraft and you have Destiny. Keep in mind, there are no separate online and offline modes and you must have an always online connection to play this game. It's a shared world shooter and random players will coexist in your area taking care of their own objectives but gameplay is set up where the presence of others will only help and not hinder your progress. Friends online can drop in and out of your three-man fireteam at will. The story portion is brief leaving Bungie plenty of room to open it up in the forthcoming DLC expansions, but stick with it until your character is at level 20 for the real game to start. That is where the majority of the Strikes, hunt for and leveling up of weapons and armor and the Bounties will begin. The beginning of its depth is realized here but you'll have to devote considerable time first before noticing it.

Great graphics, Solid FPS RPG
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More casual friendly than most FPS like COD and BF4. Those titles are centered purely around PVP -- Campaigns are minimal. Destiny is an RPG and FPS combo. You level up your player and via abilities and gear upgrades. For me this works well, because PVP is too difficult in FPS as a casual player. Destiny's focus is around running PVE missions -- repeatedly -- to level up and find loot. I've tried the PVP games and not surprisingly I get drilled like in COD. I've found the game a ton of fun after 10 hours of play. It's possible it hits a wall at max level (L20) and feels grindy but at this point I'm having fun and running missions repeatedly allows me to get better at them and run them faster. I did find co-op play more fun than solo but there doesn't seem to be a mechanism to form random groups. Adding that would be a good enhancement. Lots of opportunity for Bungie to release new content over time. Bottom line: I'll get my money's worth of playtime with this title and it's been a while since I found a title like that.

Addictive !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I play this game every single day. It is hard to put it down. I actually got the deluxe edition with the expansion pack(s). It is great that you can play this with other friends who has this game. The story is beautiful, the strikes are fun, and the Raids are challenging. They made the game in such a way, that there is always something more to accomplish. You are never quite done with the game. LOVE IT !!

Fantastic game!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny is a fantastic game...especially with a nice set of head-phones. If I could change anything, it would be to have the ability to stop the game for a day and to return to the exact position...where it stopped. Having to go back and start over each time the player quits for a bit...is a tad on the boring side. The ability to save a players progress would be a great option.

Great Idea, Okay Execution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game at first. A vast world with seemingly infinite possibilities lies before you! The only problem is that once the story line was over, I felt like there was almost no purpose to the game as it took days to climb the ranks of the different factions. The gameplay is fun and exciting, but it definitely fizzes out quickly.
