Best next generation game still to this day!

I have never played such an addicting game, it will literally be the one game you can never stop playing. The game play completely changes into a whole new riveting game once you reach the higher levels. I have every game worth buying for the new console and I still play this game more than any other game. This game is a necessity to all gamers!

    boring, generic

bought it because I convinced my friend to buy a wii u so I agreed to buy this and play with him. I've been playing for almost 2 weeks and the story is pretty non-existent. The missions are repetitive. shoot aliens, wander around till you find more aliens to shoot, scan something (and listen to a bunch of gibberish of what's happening during the scan) and survive a couple of waves of aliens until the scan is done. repeat. At least the costumes are cool, the controls are responsive, and there's enough people playing to be able to find online matches and stuff, but to me the game lacks any real character and variety so I don't understand why it has 1600 5-star reviews

Beautiful game, let down by the story (or lack of)

My first ps4 game... Graphics were stunning and the game looked great. Spent a few weeks playing it, and was left a bit disappointed. This game could have been so much better if it had a proper story. It is too repetitive for my liking.

Great multiplayer with a few bumps in the road

Pros: fun fast paced action. Great multiplayer for both coop and competitive play. Decent balancing system for the above mentioned. Straightforward level system that is easy to put together. Cons: hidden loading screens for almost everything you do. Can not skip cut scenes even if you already beat the level. Limits on what you can earn in a given week. Very weak storyline, and bad voice acting. Low framerate (i've watched a person punch me 4 consecutive times in pvp before it registered that i had already kill them) All in all I highly recommend this game, most of the cons can be looked over except the constant loading screens and sometimes the framerate in pvp.

I got this game kinda late, but I love it! Had many friends recommend it to me so I thought I try it out since I just bought the PS4. Love the game play, and the story line to it. Love the character customization and how you can pick your classes. Leveling up is fun too, you can even have your friends help you!

A good game but not amazing.

Destiny is a very good game, but not a great game. It has amazing visuals and fun gameplay but the story leaves a lot to be desired. The missions and other gameplay modes start to get repetitive after the story is completed. The game gets very grindy when you reach level 20, requiring you to do many of the same missions and modes over and over again in order to get better weapons and gear. Even with all these negatives though, it's stil a fun game to play, especially with friends. I just wished they spent more time with actual story content and mission/mode variety.

    Think of a Halo MMO

This is basically a MMORPG like World of Warcraft with guns. You get quests, you get loot. They add free content to it occasionally, but for the big things you have to buy expansions. Good game, but kind of lacks content without the expansions.

This game was actually better than expected! I just can not get enough of this game, it is well built and the multiplayer is really awesome. I definitely recommend this game to any one who wants either close to or about the same experience of halo but for the PS4!

Good game with a lot of obvious missing pieces

So let me start off this review by saying I got this game having never liked Halo, Sci-fi or played MMOs (only watched livestreams of them). I debated whether to get this game or not. My friend told me to get it, so I did. The graphics looked nice, and I needed something different to try. After putting in several hours in the game, there's a lot to be desired. The story is confusing and lacks that "grab" you hope for in ANY story (ie: The Last of Us, Uncharted series, etc). The missions are very repetitive. You go into a mission, go to the place you need to get while shooting a few enemies, deploy your ghost so it can pick up some intel and while it does that you are shooting through a few waves of enemies. Every mission. Every planet. Same idea. Also, being a huge eSports fan and follower, I hoped this game would be THE game to finally battle Call of Duty in shooters. Will you see it in ANY competitive format as of right now? NO! Why? There are no private sessions. You cannot hear or talk to your teammates in an online game and you can only have 3 people in your party (aka Fireteam) to play 6v6 maps so you're always stuck with 3 randoms. For being marketed as this MMO-like game with a great focus on "social features", how do you miss something like that? Do you know how frustrating it is to play Control and try to call out to your teammates but can't communicate to anybody? Also the load times are atrocious. Anyway....those are just my main gripes. I do like this game, though and am glad I picked it up. With friends, this is a lot of fun. The multiplayer gameplay is roughly the same as CoD or any other FPS out there. The melee kills and Super Power kills are quite satisfying. The different types of modes is rather lackluster, but still an okay variety. The graphics in my opinion are GORGEOUS. I'm not sure why anybody would knock the graphics. The loot system is pretty good. All-in-all, I can't put the game down (especially when friends are online), but I am really hoping I don't get bored before the expansion pack comes or I won't get that. I'm also hoping Bungie does something quick before Call of Duty comes out and people switch back over. This game has great potential and is fun but is missing quite a bit that should've been "obvious" features for what they hyped it up to be.

unless you like pvp there is not much here

Do you like pvp?Did you play halo pvp for months? Well this might be good for you. Want a story? Want to explore and big open world? Well go somewhere else. There are only 4 maps and you see all thats on them in 2 hours each easy. The story is almost non existent. Like 3 cut scenes and thats it. There is no conclusion at the end of the game. If you are looking for a scifi skyrim or GTA you will be HUGELY disappointed. The game is hugely repetitive you are constantly go to the exact same spot on the map to do a short mission again and again. And when you finish doing the SHORT campaign you are left to do pvp or replay the same missions over and over to try and get better equipment. Its very MMO grindy except that as a fps you never actually see your character except on loading screens or in the tower. So trying to get cool armor or weapons is not nearly as rewarding. Halo might have had a short campaign but it had characters, plot, a conclusion. Not to mention the gameplay along the way was all scripted. Here there is basically no chracters, no story, no conclusion and even thought the campaign is still so short its not scripted either. Its MMO style. These exact enemies will be at these exact spots always and respawn every 60 seconds or so. All they do is vary which enemies are in the last few mission rooms. And that usually just a difference of what "boss" is there this time. (and boss usually just means they took the normal enemy changed their name to gold and gave them a custom helmet or something)

    WHY CANT I QUIT YOU?!

Grind. Grind. Grind some more. Quit for a week out of anger. Grind again. Repeat. The first expansion was lackluster at best. The House of Wolves totally redeemed the Dark Below. Hopefully The Taken King will be even better.

    Fun game with flaws

I'm level 29 so I've seen about all this game has to offer. Game is worth the money but it has flaws. If you don't have friends end game probably won't be much fun as there is no matchmaking for the high end activities. Lots of grinding to level up gear also awaits you. Why is the d-pad bound with useless emotes instead of ammo packs or the ability to swap guns? That said, the actual gameplay is fun and there is a solid base here for Bungie to grow the game into something better.

    Could have been better

I personally enjoy this game despite what what critics say. However, I will be honest. Destiny's environments look amazing on PS4 and it's a decent shooter; I'd just wish the story and mission diversity were just as good. Multilayer is pretty fun too and reminds me of Unreal Tournament, but there needs to be a way at least avoid dying from a super as once a player achieves it, everyone around him/her is dead.

Awesome game! The graphics are beautiful, the multi-player aspect and free roam blend seamlessly, there are TONS of things to do, collect, and fight for! Definitely what you would expect from a new age MMO FPS. Don't forget though, this is meant to be a "10YeaR" game meaning the content is no where NEAR complete. There is already a scheduled DLC drop in Dec to expand on the story, unlock new events, and new raids for High level raging!

A Grind That Needed More Weaponry

This is a must play video game for anyone that is a FPS fan. However, I am not sure how long one will want to keep playing once the main story event is completed. I found the grinding to level up got dull and the rewards were not different enough to entertain me. I felt like the variety f weapons was lacking, not seeing too much of a difference between upgraded ones in my experience with them. I played this game for a few weeks and then just felt like I had had enough.

    Simply AMAZING!!!!

This is simple! Destiny lives up to the hype 150% This game is simply amazing! The graphics are awesome! The amount of time put into this game shows all the way through! You will NOT get quality like this in a game such as COD. There is simply no comparison! This is BY FAR easily the best game of the year. It will be along time before we get a new game on next gen that will beat Destiny! The game play no matter what you are playing (story, co op, online multi, patrol, fire strikes, raids) is untouchable by any other game on next gen right now! ..The music played while in a heavy gun battle is an awesome touch to the game, makes things very intense! I like how you can randomly help other people that are in the same planet as you, even if your not playing online you still see everyone else in the lands and at the tower, which is very cool IMO! People are comparing this game to Borderlands and Halo. If I was to choose 2 games that i have personally played (and love by the way) they would have to be, one of my favorite games of all time Borderlands and DC Universe. The only Halo aspect of this game I get is the enemies, and a few of the weapons maybe, other then that it is a completely different BETTER game then Halo! All in all, this is absolutely a MUST BUY for anyone who hasn't done so yet. There is enough content here to keep you busy, and interested, for hours and hours. The intense game play will suck you in and before you know it you will be addicted! GO BUY IT!

This game is awesome. I picked it up last Tuesday and have hardly put it down since. Bungie created an awesome new IP that I hope will see years worth of expansions and additional content. First and foremost, this game is a shooter, and it makes no excuses for that. The gunplay is solid, smart, and addictive, much like Halo of old. Enemies are smart and challenging, each race bringing their own strategy and tactics, and can be brutally effective on the higher difficulties. While the game is a bit light on loot at first, after you gain a few levels you'll see more and more drop. The endgame for Destiny is a lot like Diablo in that once you hit the level cap you're really just starting a new adventure. Legendaries unlock after lvl 20, and you must grind and farm to find better and better gear to raise your level past 20 by finding gear that has +Light. This means you'll end up playing missions over and over. For some people this may be a problem, i can see how you could get bored easily, but personally i've run several missions through again and again and each time i find a new way to get through them more efficiently, and with added difficulty the strategy you used before may not work as well as before. Destiny is a must try if you are on the fence, but i highly recommend it!

Good game but it's not complete. DLC trap!

Yes this game is built on being an online multiplayer game but even with that, there's very little substance after the first few hours after you unlock all the planets. There's literally already planets that you can see in the menu that you can't access because they're saving it for the expansion packs. If you can get this game for arouns $20 then I'd recommend it but for a full price game you're only getting about 1/4 of an actual story mode. The rest of the game is just repetitive quest to try an gain more loot so you can rank up to do quest that will gain you more loot. VS multiplayer is solid but wasn't strong enough to keep me playing.
