The Most Addicting Irritating Game Ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just when you swear you have had enough and will never play this again, Bungie will update or roll out a little more of the carrot that dangles just out of reach like the elusive Gjallahorn for which that bratty 12 year old on the strike team just got his 11th drop whereas you, 1100 hours in have yet to see. This is Destiny, something about aliens and light and darkness, but really your destiny is to waste away the rest of your life for the next ten years in this game.

Mindless fun, friends optional
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Biggest disappointment from Destiny is the complete lack of a coherent and interesting story. Instead we get a bunch of gibberish thrown at us by Robo-Dinklage, none of which makes much sense. Halo fell into that trap at times but at least there WAS a story. Otherwise, Destiny is insanely fun to play. The shooting mechanics are spot-on, the RPG elements are addicting, and the multiplayer is fast-paced and fun. The best parts are the Strikes, though, where you go into a specified area to fight through waves of enemies and mini-bosses before tackling a massively powerful mega-boss, the killing of which usually generates good loot. You can go it alone (bad idea), hope that you get some buddies through matchmaking (great idea), or enlist your own friends list friends (best idea). Either way, it's a blast, and it feels like an old-school video game "level" with a drawn-out battle at the end that is satisfyingly difficult, but not impossible.

beautiful fps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my most playable first person shooter. Destiny has multiple related modes of play - story, free ranging patrol missions, strikes, and PVP. I can hop into the game and choose a mode that fits how much time and energy I want to put into the game. And, all the modes build your character's experience. The game is also gorgeous to look at. It's obvious that this is a game designed and developed by a large number of talented people.

A new experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know that Bungie doesn't want to refer to Destiny as an MMORPG, but it basically operates like one, however it is very unique in the sense that it is also a very solid first person shooter. The best part is if you get tired of playing the campaign, you can go over to the multiplayer part. You get experience and earn equipment either way, so it's a win-win if you like FPS games and MMOs. Seems like there are a lot of global events going on all the time and it definitely is a lot more fun if you party up with your friends. Bungie has also always been good at keeping their games fresh and fun and always use feedback from its players to continuously improve and I'm sure it will be the same with Destiny. Note: There is no cross-platform play on this game, for those of you who wonder if you can play with friends on other systems. I understand why they decided to do this (so that people can't blame the hardware for any kind of disadvantages) and hopefully one day there will be a game that is true cross-platform.

Good FPS, but....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game plays great but I felt that it was really weak on content. It's fun to replay missions but that's what you'll being doing constantly once you finished the weak story. I expected more, but I did have fun with it.....until the next AAA title came out.

Addictive game, IF you have friends to play with
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a lot of fun to play IF you have/find a group of people with whom you can regularly play. It gets very repetitive if you are only playing by yourself. Pros: pretty graphics, excellent setting, and great controls Cons: lackluster story, repetitive gameplay

Beautiful with great potential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a gorgeous game with smooth play. I'm a Bungie fan boy, but I am disappointed. The story line is thin, and virtually nonexistent. Poof you exist, go do somethings, now play multiplayer. The multiplayer experience is good but does not make up for the game lobby issue. Some of the best loot only drops from special dungeons, dungeons you need to recruit people to game with. You are jumping in and out of the tower asking all qualified level players to join. You need the best loot to run these dungeons... and thus the problems begin... The game becomes a run of playing the game just for the sake of playing the game. The story line never fleshes out. There is potential with the planned DLC but all in all. This is the first game I have ever purchased I actual "liked" but would recommend most people to avoid. Rent it if you must, you'll be done with the main story line in a few dedicated nights or a weekend.

Fantastic Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As you would expect from Bungie, Destiny is a fantastic game. The game does feel familiar to the Halo universe that we have all come to love, and the gameplay is just as superb. Combat is fluid, dynamic, and leaves you feeling satisfied. The classes are unique and interesting, and it takes some effort to level up completely and get some decent gear. The only knock I'll give this game is the amount of content. What is there is fantastic and leaves you itching for more. There are two expansions already in the works, that will supposedly be released soon (December/February or something similar if i understand correctly). From that perspective, most shooters these days have horrible campaigns and are incredibly short, and have zero co-op. With Destiny, you get a fantastic shooter, the ability to play the entire game with friends (not just solo), and more content promised for a long time. What is not to like!

good but repetitive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny looks great and the controls are very familiar and tight. The story is terrible, I'm level 17 and have no idea why I'm killing things. Most story missions are protecting dinklage or just fighting a large boss. Maybe the raids will be worth waiting for

FPS meets MMORPG
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game for those who liked mass effect and borderlands. This is an online game so do remember it is a similar setup to your normal mmorpg but it is a shooter game at heart. Strikes are fun to just go through missions with others or else you can play against others in the arenas. Definitely recommend but the Taken King comes out soon and has this game plus all the expansions so it might be better to grab that.

Good game that is 4 other games rolled together.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been anxiously awaiting Bungies next big game since Halo. We've been promised open world gameplay with MMO like interaction in a persistent online world. Yeah, that didn't happen so much. You won't be linking up with random people to complete missions while on "patrol" missions. You can't even converse or invite these other guardians to join you. Other than the huge shortcomings on what this game was touted to be, there is still plenty of fun to be had. New daily/weekly challenges, bounties, and special events keep you coming back. Gameplay is great, weapons are fun, game itself is very pretty and interesting to look at. Bottom line is that it is no genre redifining game. This has all been done before. If you take Halo, Mass Effect, Borderlands, and Star Wars, mash them together, this is that game. However, it's still fun. Still challenging, and worth a solid play.

Great Game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my second Destiny game bought, bought so a second account could be played from a 2nd Xbox One in my home. (Warning All Next Gen games have been overhyped, especially Destiny) That said I really enjoy playing this game worth very penny invested. I think the play world, is way too small for the amount of hours people spend playing it, but hopefully future expansions will open up a more large areas.

Just the Beginning ...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny is a huge game. Great graphics and gameplay show what the current generation consoles are capable of. If you like massive games that constantly receive updates and expansion packs, then look no further. This is a masterpiece that will draw you in and reward you for your hard work and dedication. It has sold millions, you owe this to yourself to have this in your collection.

Starts strong, falls short.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny is a good game. It has strong mechanics and tight controls and for all intents and purposes it's a fun game to play. The issues come in the form of the story and the amount of content available. The story is basically non-existent. Everyone hoping for a strong follow up to the Halo series by Bungie was sorely disappointed. The story missions essentially just lead you to a point on the map and ask you to defend it with little to no exposition. The promise of having the little bit of story there was fleshed out later during DLC is also less than appealing. The other half of the problem is the content on hand. The biggest flaw comes in the form of the progression system in the game. From levels 1 - 20 it's pretty standard experience based on mission bonuses, etc. From level 20 on, you rely on "light" to level up. Light comes in the form of bonuses on armor and gear. This is where the issues begin. Progression is 100% dependent on loot but the amount of loot that you get can turns into one of the most tedious grinds of any game in recent memory. Loot received from killing enemies and completing missions can be few and far between. This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that the developers are insistent that the real game begins after level 20. So you will find yourself grinding it out on maps that have been thoroughly explored, doing the same missions already done in the so-called story but at harder difficulties. There are some out there who absolutely adore the game though and have embraced doing end-game raids and post level 20 content. So there is definitely enjoyment that can be found here, but just not for me.

MMO Halo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Made by the crew that gave us HALO for alot of years, and you can tell in how it feels like your controlling the Master Chief at times. I DO NOT like the MMO part of this, Even in single player other players can interfere. Overall its a nice time sync, but if you are single player kind of person, stay away and buy the HALO: MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION.

brilliantly addicting yet flawed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Destiny is a fantastic game. Well it's run on a fantastic engine at least. The fps elements are all great. The missions and raids are great and if you're like me you'll get sucked into the loot grind. It is a little shallow though with a lot of emphasis on repeating the same missions. Overall I've put nearly 300 hours into the game since October.

Great Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really skeptical about this game. I didn't know if I was going to like the fact that I needed to be connected online the whole time. But after playing for several hours, I have to come to enjoy this game very much. The ability to play the game solo and have friend jump in to join you, is a great feature. Can't wait to see what is next.

"A MUST PLAY GAME"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great missions, they are interesting enough to spend a lot of time having fun, this game has been improved in some ways significantly, it has been expanded somewhat, though it still feels stretched thin. the visuals are exceptional, strike missions are good. You will get pretty familiar with most locations in the free-form patrol missions.

Great Graphics and Gameplay, not deep story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been gaming since I was a child and I have attempted like many others to categorize this game. The comparisons I draw to are these: Star Wars Battlefront, Mass Effect, and of course COD/Halo/BF (insert modern FPS). I feel the game pulls in elements of a typical MMO in a visually pleasing world that runs seamlessly most of the time. The abilities and great gear makes you want to reach higher levels and discover better items. Each mission has a relatively low depth to the story with a Peter Dinklage led narrative. I think this game is great and a blast to play with friends, but the story could be more engaging. I give it a 4 out of 5 because of great gameplay graphics, abilities, and fun MMO style. It wasn't rated a 5 because the seemingly shallow story line.
