The bands first & what i consider to be their best release. Great guitar, drums, bass, & vocals. A well engineered & produced example of the bands strengths. I think they peaked as a band early in their career. If you like dire straits, you'll like this one!

A very nice deal for Dire Straits' excellent first album.

The only song I hear on a classic rock station off this album in "Sultans of Swing", "Money for Nothing" is on the album "Brothers in Arms". I really enjoyed this album, but it's before DDD (Digitally recorded, D mixed, and D mastered) ..."Brothers In Arms" released a few years later was a DDD album, very expensive at the time and also very rare until the 2000's when the equipment became cheap. I really like this album, there are no back up singers so the harmony doesn't sound impossibly auto tuned. Really genuine sounding emotion.

Mark Knoffler shows why is is one of the best. I had forgotton how good this album was!

This is a must-listen both for music fans and guitarists, featuring some of the best Strat tones ever captured for posterity. The musical soundscapes are evocative, Mark Knopfler is one of a notable faction of lyrically demonstrative rockers, and the singing / crooning is Dylanesque. The songs flow nicely and everything just fits brilliantly. Excellent!

Dire Straits 1978 album is a classic and second best to their 1985 release of "Brothers in Arms." Outstanding recording engineering that retains the original superb sound quality when played in a capable hi-fi system.

What's not to like about Dire Straits? Been listening to them since the 70's. CD sounds great! I'm a big fan of guitarist Mark Knopfler.

This is really a classic CD of the sound and some of the lost tracks are gems. I saw one disc left on the shelf and I grabbed it. This CD should be in everyone's collection. Knopfler's guitar heroics are well displayed throughout this album. Enjoy...

This is Dire Straits debut album and it is filled with great songs that you may or may not be familiar with.

Everybody loves Sultans of Swing which is a Dire Straits all time classic. This was their very first LP and is a classic. I like most of the songs here, but Sultans is my favorite!
