I have never owned a smart-phone gimbal before, and kind of went into this blindfolded. And, I have to say I was floored with the abilities of the DJI OM4.
This gives every video you create a professional look and it can even be used for video calls, to show someone around a house or run after a kid without everything becoming a blurry nightmare. I have also used it as a simple tripod to capture hyperlapse videos of sunsets or a starry night. The tracking and the stabilization is absolutely amazing.
There are plenty of other reviews and spec guides explaining each and every feature of this, so I'll just focus on the ones I have been using mostly. The Trigger has a few functionalities around locking on to a target if you hold it in place, or re-center the phone if you tap it twice. Both of these work like a charm, and there is definitely a pattern here - everything "just works" and once you get used to it, you don't have to think about it. Which is exactly how a user experience should be. There are buttons to zoom in and out, switch between video and photo mode, take actual photographs. Although, just a simple Bluetooth connection doesn't give you access to them all. With just a BT connection all you get is taking a snap, if you need access to more, you have to use the DJI app, and its camera. And this is where my main disagreement with this device is, I cannot use DJI's camera app without signing up with them. I am against signing up for services unless its totally necessary, and in this case it definitely feels like we did not "need" to sign in, but the company still wants our data.
Overall this is a solid and well earned 4 stars and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

I have to say, I'm not impressed at all, and the axis just seems off when using it. Also if you try to use the DJI Action Cam with the metal adapter for this thing, you'll see it wants to balance sideways, it also is too big for the opening. No Samsun Note 10+ installed here.

DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE...

Disappoint doesn’t even begin to describe the DJI OM4. First the app is a cluster of a mess with very little guidance and customer support forms are in Chinese. When error messages pop on the screen, not solutions or deeper insight is made available. As for the gimbal itself, it definitely isn’t made for the iPhone 12 Plus Max. The gimbal gets stuck, in panoramic mode it does not straightened (no matter how many times the auto calibration is attempted). It looks like it could be a great product with smaller iPhones, complete elimination of the constant useless error messages (something I also hate about my DJI drone), and customer support that’s in English. Thank goodness Best Buy has such a great return program!

This product is one of the worst products I have ever purchased. It does not work most of the time and I even sent it back ti DJI for them to fix it, which they did and sent back to me. However it had multiple issues and they only fixed one of them. The company will do nothing to accomodate you and now they want me to sent it back them again to fix again, but I use it daily in my photography business. I would HIGHLY recommend you NOT but this but look for a different mfg for a gimbal stick that actually works. Their drones are amazing but this product really is awful and the company customer service is really not that great either.

Worked wonderful the first 2x, after that I can’t get it to connect to Bluetooth. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, hoping when I upgrade my phone it might work, but for now it’s a waste of money

A Great Gimble for Everyone

The DJI OM 4 is a great gimble for novices and professionals alike. I am a total newbie to using a device like this and within a matter on minutes I was up and running.
The use of magnets which allows you to quickly and easily mount your phone to the gimble is brilliant. I will say that the clamp that comes with the OM 4 is a little tight on larger phones (I was using iPhone 11 Pro Max), but it fit. The clamp is rubberized so won’t scratch your phone.
With the required companion app (download from the Apple or Google App Store), you can quickly connect your phone to the device and start shooting video quickly.
A few things I really liked about the gimble (again viewing from a newbie perspective):
* Gesture control - turn on ActiveTrack to have the gimble automatically follow you or a subject around
* Panoramic option to take beautiful pano pictures. The app seamlessly stitches the photos together.
* CloneMe Pano - stitch a picture together of you or a subject in three different posses.
The gimble itself if lightweight, comes with a great small tripod, and a soft carrying case to make it easily portable.
I still have much to learn to become a pro with the OM 4, but given the ease of use and many features, it shouldn’t be too difficult. It’s a great gimble for the price. You won’t regret owning one.

I bought this to give as a gift for a family member but due to a family member passing suddenly she was not able to open the gift till now. Purchased 6/23/21. The DJI OM 4 was broken out of the box. The inner motor must be broken because it wouldn't stabilize the iPhone. Yes, it was a compatible phone. We watched YouTube and our gimbal was just faulty. Very disappointed Best Buy couldn't do anything for us. Oh.. one more thing.. DJI Gimbal 5 came out the day after she opened the box...our luck... Great gimbal...if it worked! Wish we could exchange or pay more for the gimbal 5....

Was REALLY looking forward to using the new DJI OM4. Unfortunately, it does not play nicely with my iPhone 12 Pro. In concept, this is an amazing product. However the magnetic clamp only "Kinda" works when you take the case off your brand new $1000 phone. You need nerves of steel to hike across the rocky desert with no protection on your device! In addition, the head tends to drift when using.
Sadly, boxed up and returned. And even more disappointing to find DJI has no current plans to release an iPhone 12 friendly magnetic adapter. Fingers crossed they come to their senses, will be happy to buy again when they do!

It’s not what I expected. I bought it before I travelled and straight out the box I’m having problems. It’s shaky and the performance is poor. I’m unable to return the item because I’m still in the Caribbean.

I received this about two weeks ago and had plenty of time to use it. This is my first gimbal and I wanted to spend some time before giving any review. I'm actually impressed with this. I had seen these at Best Buy displays many time before but never thought of giving them a try. I did some research on these this time and decided on getting this one. Needless to say, I'm glad I got it. It's super fun to use this. The OM 4 works in both portrait and landscape modes.
Let's first see what's included in the box:
1) DJI OM (gimbal itself)
2) Magnetic phone clamp
3) Magnetic ring holder
4) Screw-in tripod
5) Charging cable
6) Wrist strap
7) Storage pouch
8) User manual
It measures approximately 276mm x 119.6mm x 103.6mm (unfolded) and weighs around 435 g (including the clamp and holder). They claim a battery life of up to 15 hours with a charging time of about 2.5 hours. And just in case you are wondering, the battery cannot be replaced. You will need to download DJI Mimo app in order to use this. The app offers consistent performance. I have an iPhone XS Max with a thick Otterbox case & I have no problem using this gimble with my phone in the case. It pairs via Bluetooth with your smartphone and uses the app for controls and personalized functions. If your goal is simply to capture a shake free video, you don't need the app, as the gimbal can keep your phone steady and secure without the app. DJI OM 4 comes with an enhanced quick-release magnetic feature that facilitates all of your shooting experience. Looks like they focused on improving how easily one can use the gimbal to create a video while considering a phone gimbal for regular shoot. Also, the latest DJI gimbal is a more convenient video stabilizer for people filming for longer durations. The only problem I I can see that people may face while using it with their phone it that the clamp may not play well with volume buttons on their phone. I didn't have any issue with my iPhone but my Dad has a google pixel and the clamp was right on top of the button. So in that case, we had to use just it without the clamp which worked just as fine.
There are so many things that you can do with the app that it's hard to cover everything here in a single review. I haven't played with all of them yet but whatever I've used, they are fun.
The DJI OM 4 offers an approach to catch smooth true to life video without holding your cell phone totally prisoner. Magnets connect your telephone to the gimbal arm. The DJI OM 4 is the new phone gimbal that makes catching consistent, vibration free videos, and it does this without totally hoarding your phone (except for the volume buttons as mentioned above). DJI OM 4 could be a phone gimbal that upgrades your phone video with easily smooth stabilization. Featuring the 3 axis, the latest DJI OM 4 gimbal produces shake free video. The 3-axis corresponds to how gimbal movements will balance around three axes: forward-backward, left-right, and side-to-side. This means that the gimbal can stabilize any movements you make in those axes, which creates vibration-free video. I know this is not the first of its kind but being the first for me, it's really impressive.
Overall, I'm very much satisfied with it and would definitely recommend it.

I didn’t really care for this product. I ended up returning it. It didn’t really do what I hoped it would. My biggest complaint is that if you don’t have WiFi it is useless.

DO NOT buy this item if you have a Samsung S21 series phone.
It is NOT really supported and the stabilization is as good by just using your phone.
On top of not having support from DJI for such a popular phone, they cannot tell you when or if it will be supported and Best Buy will hit you with a 15% restocking fee because the item you bought does NOT work. That is insane and I am taking this to BBB. RIPOFF!

Not very intuitive or user friendly & it comes with no instructions. Be prepared to sign up for a class to learn how to use this thing.
Between the app and the device you’re gonna need to put in a lot of hours of training & tinkering before you can use this.
I would not recommend this purchase unless you’re very technically inclined- with graphics and video production.

The Magnetic Phone Clamp do not fit my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. DJI need to upgrade the Clamp for larger Smartphones. They need to write in the product specifications that it DO NOT FIT the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I am very angry with this issue, because I paid $164.09 for it is unusable. I will going to return it to the store for a full refund!
