The app overheats my iPhone after roughly 10 minutes of use, putting the iPhone into emergency mode and preventing any further recording. It also gave me an out of memory fault more than once, stopping recording each time, despite the fact I have over 300 GB free memory on my phone. DJI customer support wanted me to use in airplane mode, dim the screen all the way down to the point I couldnt see it, clear my cache, and use it without a case. Did all that, and still overheated several times so I returned it. Apart from that, worked really well and shot great video.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My wife and I were excited to try the OM 5 stabilizer as we've been very happy with the DJI Ronin-S stabilizer we use for our DSLRs. Maybe the OM 5 we received was defective, but it could not properly stabilize with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I've read reviews stating the OM 4 works quite a bit better than the OM5 so perhaps it's a bad iteration. The gimbal would drift while shooting making it pretty difficult to frame shots the way we would like. I read the manual, watched tutorials, and read forum posts and still was unable to get this thing to work correctly. We wound up returning it. We will be purchasing a Beastgrip case instead so that we can just use our Ronin-S with our phones.

Sorry for the unpleasant experience caused. You could try to use the following methods to check if the problem persists.
1) Remove the phone case and try again.
*As the mobile phone case may be soft, the clamping position of the mobile phone clamp may shift.
2) If the mobile device is small or thin (such as an iPhone 8, Nova 8, or OPPO Reno 5 Pro) or the mobile phone edge is arced, use the provided riser pad.
3) If a high temperature prompt appears in the app, it indicates that the motor enters self-protection status. After the above two steps have been checked, please restart the gimbal and DJI Mimo, and the issue can be resolved.
4) If the DJI OM magnetic ring holder is being used (provided with DJI OM 4), it is not recommended to use it with DJI OM 5. The compatibility of DJI OM 5 is mainly based on the DJI OM Magnetic Phone Clamp, which is recommended to be used to ensure stabilization effect.
5) Use the magnetic phone clamp correctly. Make sure that the phone clamp is in the middle of the phone. Attach the magnetic phone clamp correctly to the gimbal.
