Great for On The Go Content Creation
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. The DJI OM 5 is a great alternative to using a Full-Size Gimbal. Its small size makes it extremely portable and comfortable to use anywhere. Your smartphone attaches to the Gimbal by a magnet that clips onto your device. This makes for a fast and easy setup since you do not have to balance it like you do with a Full-Size Gimbal. The DJI has a plethora of cool features that you can control through the DJI MIMO app such as zoom control, tracking, and even a shot guide. My biggest dislike about the DJI OM 5 is when panning up, the device cannot rotate to far. This is not a huge issue but it can cause you to miss your shot occasionally. Overall, This is a great tool to keep in your camera bag. You never have to worry when your main camera dies because you can just pull out the DJI OM 5 and start filming on your phone!

Affordable luxury DJI Gimbal if you have the OM4
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. Not as sturdy as the DJI OM 4. Plus it can’t be used to charge your phone, which is another advantage of the OM4. However, it’s advantage is the selfi stick and it’s economical size. Having them both is a luxury. If you can afford it, you are better off with both.

Selfie with smart Gimbal
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I like this DJI OM5 as it is now a built-in selfie stick to help you more easily capture selfies. Unfortunately, battery life has been reduced from 15 hours on the OM 4 to about 6 hours on the OM5 as it is 25% lighter compared to the OM 4, with a slightly smaller design. It doesn’t need a magnetic sticker on your phone.

I like the new selfie stick addition!
|Posted .## What’s new? If you’re coming from the OM 4, you’re probably interested in what’s new with the OM 5. - Extension rod: There is now a built-in selfie stick in the DJI OM 5 to help you more easily capture selfies. The controls are still within easy reach so you can move the gimbal and snap a picture or video easily. The extension rod extends to about 8.5 inches. - Smaller battery: Unfortunately, battery life has been reduced from 15 hours on the OM 4 to about 6 hours on the OM5. - ActiveTrack 4.0: The ActiveTrack feature has been upgraded from version 3.0 found on the OM 4, which provides faster responsiveness when tracking people. - Lighter design: The OM 5 is 25% lighter compared to the OM 4, with a slightly smaller design. - No magnetic sticker: The OM 4 included a “sticker” for the magnetic mount that you could permanently attach to the back of your phone, which I’m assuming many people did not use. The OM5 includes the clamp magnetic mount only. ## Performance The OM 5 does a great job of stabilizing your phone’s camera to add smooth pans and movement to your recordings. The OM 5 seems to provide about the same stabilization as the OM 4 as there are still up and down movements when walking and it won’t completely smooth out a shaky hand. So don’t buy the OM 5 expecting “stronger” stabilization over the OM 4. I tested ActiveTrack 4.0 on a stationary object (a small pond) while walking around it with the hopes of getting a smooth pan with the pond centered (something I do often with the DJI Mavic Air 2 drone). Unfortunately, the footage ended up jittery. I don’t believe this was a failure of the gimbal itself, but instead a failure of the ActiveTrack algorithms trying to keep track of the pond. When performing the same walk around the pond without ActiveTrack, the footage was smooth. Therefore, it appears the ActiveTrack feature works better when tracking moving objects, such as a person or a pet. The Dynamic Zoom feature worked much better for me on stationary objects and I was able to create some really nice videos with it. Each of the features show a nice introductory video on what the feature does and how to use it, although I sometimes had trouble with the videos loading when on a cellular connection. ## Battery Life As noted earlier, battery life is somewhat reduced on the OM 5 to about 6 hours. I would likely never exceed this limit on a day trip (and don’t plan on storing 6 hours of HD video on my phone), so I’m actually in favor of the shorter battery life for the lighter design. In between shots, you can double-tap the power button to enter “standby” mode to further preserve battery life. Plus, you could always bring a power bank to charge the OM 5 while out and about. ## Summary Overall, the biggest improvement found in the OM 5 in my opinion is the extension rod (selfie stick) that allows you to more easily get a group shot or simply get a higher view. The OM 5 does a great job of capturing smooth video much like the OM 4. Battery life is shorter at just over 6 hours, but I believe the lighter and smaller design make up for it.

Impressive
|Posted .This is the latest on the Osmo line. I used briefly the 1st generation and I was impressed, but it was not as practical. This improves leaps and bounds. It's the lightest yet (by far) and it's the first with a built-in extension (I.e. selfie stick). Build quality is excellent. It's easy to fold and open with minimal practice. The gimbal arm feels solid. Top-notch metal hinges and comfortable handle. The built-in extension is so well built that the first time I used it, did not notice this is extensible until I saw the demo videos. While it doesn't extend as far as other sticks, it's exceedingly stable. Nothing flimsy here. The controls feels just like one would expect from a high-end camera. For the most part, controls are intuitive: • Left side: On/off button and mode (photo/video) switch. • Zoom control (L-W). • Rear: A trigger used for locking a target when tracking. • Front: Joystick, photo/record, orientation/camera, trigger. • Right: USB-C charger. Connects to the phone via Bluetooth. Once paired, it connects right away with no issues. This can only be used to take pictures and videos with the 'DJI Mimo' app. When I first opened the app, I was a bit concerned by the license agreement for this, but had to accept it in order to use this device. Pleasantly, it didn’t require to register it with a DJI account. This is only required if using the DJI storage service. The app saves everything to the camera roll on the iPhone like any other camera app. The application has several good options and the object / face tracking is excellent. There are plenty of tooltips and tutorials through the app. Very helpful the first time but the demo videos can get in the way at first or not load correctly. The application is fine and does what one would expect. Doesn't have a lot of filters or effects besides some tracking modes, and since it saves to the camera roll it’s not a big issue. Also did not find a setting to save photos in raw mode. The object tracking is great. I was impressed as well as others I showed this to. The gimbal is 3-axis, meaning it can rotate left and right and up and down. Horizontally, it moves about, say, 270 degrees and the up and down movement is severely limited. It has three motors. Coordination and stability is excellent. The bracket that holds the phone is well made with excellent grip and very strong magnets. What’s not so great is that it cannot rotate 360 degrees and the vertical movement is limited. This is not a big issue in most cases however but it would be great to have. Also the application is great for beginners but could use more pro-level features. On iPhone at least, which is what I use, doesn't support integration with other camera apps or filters. Otherwise, quality is excellent and I don't know anything else that compares to this in features, build quality, precision and responsiveness.

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with the iphone 13?
Asked by Tike.
- A:Answer Yes. I’m using it with my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Q: QuestionWill this work with an iPhone 12Max with a Mous Limitless 3.0 case. Anyone foolish enough to use any gimble w/o some sort of protection is just asking for trouble IMO. I really want to pick one up but not if it won’t work with a case.
Asked by Bobaloo.
- A:Answer No, I have an iPhone 12 with an otter box commuter series case and it will not fit my phone in the case. It makes my super nervous to use with my phone out of the case.
Answered by CAPNDigital
Q: Questioncan you leave your otterbox on, or does it have to be removed?
Asked by Fritz.
- A:Answer It depends on the phone that you are using. For instance my iPhone 12 Pro fit with the Apple silicone case but for my iPhone 13 pro I have to remove the silicone case because the phone is thicker. I would say it depends on the amount of bulk it adds to your phone if there is a lot then you will need to use it without the case. When you do the phone sits securely in the clamp. I hope that helps.

Q: Questiondoes this work with the iphone 12 mini?
Asked by lake54.
- A:Answer Dear customer, we apologize for the inconvenience. As the iPhone 12 Mini is too light and does not meet the gimbal minimum payload requirement, gimbal stabilization will be affected. We will report your mobile phone model to the DJI engineers to serve as a main reference for follow-up product development. Thank you for your support and product suggestions.

Q: Questionis this compatible with Samsung Note20 ultra????
Asked by rosa.
- A:Answer Yes, its compatible with Note 20 ultra. If you have case like otter box on your phone you probably need to remove that. Also the "DJI Mimo" app can be downloaded from DJI website, latest versions is not available on Play store. And it records on in 30 fps only. No 60fps available yet for Android users.
