However if you have a case on your phone it will need to be removed to fit in the holder. The samsung note 4 will also not fit as it has a thicker case unlike the newer models.

iPhone XS MAX too heavy

The gimbal barely moved when tilted forward or backwards due to the weight of the phone. If you have a iPhone X/XR/8 you should be fine.

Unfortunately there are weight and balance limits that have to be set in order to keep the overall weight and battery consumption down.
