I also had an iPhone 8 Plus which was also too large. The phone technically fits, however you must remove the case and the lightening port is obstructed. I noticed that in order to balance the gimbal, I had to essentially configure it such that it couldn't brush the weighted arm to the base of the gimbal, it gets stuck because the phone is too big. Out of fear of burning out the gimbals motor, I had to discontinue using this gimbal as it is too small for plus sized phones.

Posted .Although you are correct that one likely needs to remove their phone case if they are using a phone as large as the XS Max, without a case it should be easy to balance well without straining the motors. I'd recommend contacting customer support to ensure the phone is balanced properly. We're sorry you are not having a great experience so far.

Slow to react, acts odd at times and doesn't handle the weight of my 8 Plus as well as my 8.

We are sorry you weren't a fan of the Osmo Mobile 2. The pan feature can be locked by pressing down once on the M button. The joystick is typically responsive, but it is possible you had a bad unit.

I have the 8 plus and not only can it not balance it, but it won't fit properly inside the gimbal when turning or operate how it's supposed to. Incredibly frustrating and just disappointing, I literally am stuck with a useless gimbal unless I went out and bought a smaller phone just for this. The DJI cannot handle the size and weight of an iPhone PLUS sized device.
