Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is a beautiful, difficult 2D platformer that will put your skills to the test. You play as Donkey Kong with one of your sidekicks (Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky) trying to save the island from a group of vikings. While the game is difficult, the game is fair. If you die you don't feel cheated. The presentation is also amazing as Donkey Kong games have never looked better and David Wise is back for the soundtrack with some great music. If your worried about it being too difficult there is a new "Funky" mode that makes the game a bit easier. If you didn't own it on Wii U or just want it portable Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is a must play.

Got this as a gift and have to say the reviews have been on point. Game is a lot of fun and creative. Funky mode makes this "easier", but the game is still tough and can get frustrating.

This game rings true to the OG Donkey Kong Countrys. They did a great job. It can get super frustrating at times, but that keeps the replay value up.

Don't let the bright graphics fool you. This game can be quite difficult yet fair. For those who missed out on the Wii u version this is definitely worth picking up

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze was a great game on Wii U, but like many titles on Wii U it was limited to 720p (or 480p on the GamePad) and could only be played at home. This release plays in beautiful 1080p (or 720p in portable mode) and runs incredibly smooth. The addition of the new Funky Kong mode allows you to not take damage from spikes so you can pass the game slightly more easily. Still even using Funky this game can still be incredibly challenging and rewarding like other Donkey Kong Country games before it. I highly recommend this game even though yes it's initial cost is $59.99 instead of the Wii U releases initial $49.99.

I love these Donkey Kong games, while not a completely new game it is a good quality port from the Wii U version and with some new features. But being a port it should have been cheaper.

Love this game! Get two player or single player game. Alittle difficult at first but pay close attention and you'll be beating each level! Brings back many memories just with a twist!

I loved playing this on the Super NES system more than 2 decades ago. And then I got the DKC Returns version for the Wii about a decade ago. Here I am, reliving the good old days with the Tropical Freeze version. It's still challenging, but not too challenging. I'm not a video game guru by any stretch, so it has to be doable. Poor Donkey Kong dies a lot, but I'm still having a ball. Of course, the graphics are much better now, and it has new challenges and puzzles. It all stays true to the original Donkey Kong Country theme -- same upbeat style music and sound effects. My 7 and 10 year old kids like it, too. Good for all ages.

Good game def keeps kids occupied also have a nostalgic feel . I wish switch games in general were less expensive but good games non the less

One of the best games ever. Amazing level design and music. With the addition of Funky Kong for Easy Mode, young kids will have a better time taking on this challenging platformer.

To start the game is just fun. It almost takes me back to the old days of simple Donkey Kong from my childhood. The new and updated version has some much more to offer. It's not boring at all. There seem to be extras all throughout the game as you play. Most gamers fight to get to the boss fight. But the fun is playing every part of the game up to each boss fight. The level of gameplay is just fun and continuous. If you're thinking about buying this game for yourself or your kids....do it. All of you guys will have a good time together. Enjoy!

Very good, but can get boring. I like the new graphics and look, but it's rather boring. You can get hit about 4 or 5 times before you are knocked out of the game and lose a life. You can play as Donkey or Funky Kong. The game is rather repetitive though.

I grew up playing Donkey Kong. I do not remember the older games from N64 being as hard as this one however it might just be me. Still a fun game!

This game does not hold your hand at all and you will die allot. As a platformer it is a very fun tho

Funky mode is biggest addition here, along with 1080P resolution. This is one of the best 2d perspective platformers of all time. But I do feel the price should have lower.

This game is challenging especially with controlling the characters. I was playing Mario bros deluxe and I got so used to playing that so when I started playing donkey Kong it was a learning curve. The gameplay itself is lots of fun and I enjoy playing with donkey Kong and his friends/family. (I have rage quit a few times but when I get back into it I do better for some reason??) I definitely recommend this game if you never played this game and if you miss playing donkey Kong!

Great classic game that's reinvented to modern game play. We really playing the game play is fun and exciting. The music is catchy and joyous. Good overall game for fun.

If you're in the mood for a challenging platform game for your Nintendo switch, you can't do much better than this. The graphics are great and it's a blast to play. It's definitely not what I'd call easy, but if you're up for a challenge then this is certainly a worthy addition to your Nintendo Switch library.
