great remake of a JRPG classic

This is a remake of the PSOne classic. Very simple game play, so it's great for all ages. A game that is good for you like reading your favorite Shakespeare play.

The definitive version

Random encounters are a thing of the past, two new playable characters, and a massive world to explore make for dozens of hours of JRPG goodness. The only downside is that the orchestrated soundtrack from the PS2 version has been downgraded to MIDI. That said, it still sounds great.

Video game comfort food
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played the demo disk for this game on PS2 and didn't get into it at the time because it was too D&D for me in how it textually described everything that was happening on screen as it was happening. Years later, the DQ series still sticks to its guns and really does sell itself on the feelings of familiarity. It makes the game not too hard to jump into and you don't need a great time commitment to enjoy it for bits at a time.

It's a classic RPG that should be played by all, if you missed out on the PlayStation 2 version.
