Customers commend the charming gameplay and compelling story of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, frequently praising the enjoyable characters and great music. While some found the game to be less challenging than previous entries and slightly repetitive, many appreciated the extensive content and positive voice acting. The game's length was noted by some players as a potential drawback.

One of the Best Games I've Ever Played

I love old school JRPGs, but not too old school. I didn't get into them until the PS One days, but I do enjoy many JRPGS from the SNES and Sega. This game bridges many of all those older games with some modern features. The battle system is simple but it keeps adding a few new elements to keep things fresh. All the characters are great and their story arcs felt really developed, unlike other JRPGs were some characters totally don't have a character arc like Suidoken. The music is fantastic, but TBH, as someone who has played many Dragon Quest games, I did get a bit sick of hearing the same tracks I've heard many times before. Eventually, I played my own music, but it's still a great score.

Dragon Quest XI is exactly the game that people that grew up with the franchise will want to play. The combat, characters, even the enemies are just right with their goofy animations. It is easy to sink time into this one and fun all the way.

I was super surprised at how much I liked this game. Apparently there’s over 80 hours of gameplay. The combat is fun and the world looks good! Characters are super likeable too, but I personally play with voice acting off.

I am a fan of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Quest, Dragon ball, so the character design is something that I can appreciate. The game itself is hours of fun and if you are a JRPG fan you must own this. Graphics on the PS4 are out of this world.

Having a lot of fun with this game. Never played any of the previous Dragon Quest games, but it doesn't seem to matter, since everything seems to be self contained. Loving it a lot more than Ni No Kuni 2, which was kind of a letdown.

Loved Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 and this brings out all the great elements, with enhanced graphics and great voiceovers. One of the best turn based JRPG's of this generation (second to Persona 5, of course).

Has pretty much everything you expect as a fan of the Dragon Quest series, but now available on the PS4. Really long game though, so be prepared to be playing for a long time (you could easily end up putting 100+ of hours into this).

I miss the old days of these turn based RPGs with countless hours of treasure hunting. I love that there is a new one out and reccomend it if you miss them as well. It's a bit too easy for me but still have been playing it for hours

This Dragon Quest in my opinion is the best entry since Dragon Quest VIII. The game is exactly what those familiar with DQ will expect, but now on PS4 and expanding where appropriate and staying in familiar territory so as not to feel foreign. If you are new to the series, pick this one up for sure! Overall, awesome game but not perfect, a great entry and I hope they continue improving the series with each entry.

It's been years since I've played a good JRPG but this one fits the bill perfectly! Couldn't be happier getting back into this genre. No complaints at all, everything about this game is engrossing as the best of the best of JRPGs!!

DQXI reminds me of RPGs of old - turn based, grindy battles with a fantastic soundtrack and stunning visuals. This game is exactly what I need for my winter months and I am very happy to have gotten this on sale for Black Friday

    JRPG Perfection

Dragon Quest XI is as close as a classic JRPG you'll get in this day and age. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel and thanks to that, it delivers an authentic, lengthy and true to form experience that any RPG buff should enjoy.

One of the Most Complete JRPGs Ever

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

JRPGs aren't known for their "western" visual/audio entertainment budget, so if you're going into this expecting ground-breaking graphics and a whole mind-blowing JRPG experience, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're into JRPGs and you already know what to expect, this will fit the bill like a glove. So you might wonder, then, why I've stated this is the most complete JRPG ever. It's quite simple, really: there are virtually no JRPGs that provide an endgame that encourages you to reach the maximum level. Many JRPGs have a sort of "plateau" at which point you've become so powerful, you can do whatever you have to. Grinding to lvl 99 or whatnot is just for fun. Not with DQXI it isn't. My advice to you? When the credits roll, go right back in. You're not even close to done.

Since most RPGs go toward real time combat and are more mature, this one feels fresh just because it’s different. Old school turn based battle and bright, cartoonish but very good looking visuals make this one a must play.

If you are looking for an old school turn based JRPG then look no further. Game looks really good and you have a ton to do. The main story takes around 60 hours alone, you can double that doing all the extra side stuff
