Modern Graphics, Old School Gameplay

While there is some room for improvement in a few areas, none of those really detract from the overall experience and this game should satisfy any fan of classic, turn-based JRPGs and keep you entertained for 80-200 hours (depending on play style and whether or not you use the Draconian difficulty options on your first play through).

First Dragon Quest Game

Good, but there's a better version available

However, if you have a Switch, I highly recommend that you get that version instead of this one. The PS4 and PC releases are missing some very significant quality of life improvements that went into the Switch version, including a full symphonic score. That might not sound like a big deal, but after a few hours of the awful MIDI version of the score on the PS4 version, you WILL be sick of it. If you don't have a Switch, go ahead and get this one if it's on sale, It's still worth it. It's a shame they haven't updated it to match the Switch version, though.
