Amazing J-RPG, a joy to own

I will begin by admitting that if it hadn't been for the demo, I would have never even looked at this game. It's so good that it was easy to ignore the graphic downgrades. Dragon Quest XI has been one of the most amazing J-RPGs I have played. I thought my adventure was over after Act 2 of the game, and that Act 3 would be just post game shenanigans. BOY, WAS I WRONG!!! VERY wrong about this game for many reasons; one of the main reasons being that this game will have you see EVERY STORY, SIDE STORY, SIDE QUEST, NPC STORY, and even MINOR EVENTS through to their ends, all with conclusions that will either make you cry of happiness, or sigh with relief. This game made me cry a lot, but man, everything just works out in the end, and EVERY SINGLE STORY has its conclusion. This game will not let you feeling like you missed on something, because everything has a conclusion (unless, of course, you just want to skip side events and just go straight through to the end.) I don't think I'll find a game that will top this one in terms of story driven goodness for a long time. Despite having spent 150+ hours on it, I am a little sad I reached the end. Game that's totally worth it if you like J-RPGs, or like games that are heavy in stories. This one will stay with me for a long time. Pros: Beautifully orchestrated music you can change in the menus for its original midi music, contains all content from 3DS, and then some, the controls feel tight and smooth, the story will have you feeling emotions all over the place, and despite the graphic downgrades, the game looks BEAUTIFUL! Cons: Takes quite a long time to fully beat (and this is not very pleasant for people whom don't have much time to play videogames), and if you have played the PS4 version, the graphic downgrades might shock you a bit. Totally recommend this game to anyone!

The best JRPG on the Switch yet

Yeah I know the title may get some people riled up but THIS is the JRPG experience I’ve been waiting for on the Switch. There are others that are very good, but this one really hits all the marks for me. From the story, to the characters, the music, the bright colors and great design...it’s all top notch. You can really tell all of the care the creative team put into this one.

    GREAT JRPG

I am not a big fan of this genre, but i went to the Switch eshop and got the demo, after playing for about 6 hours i decided that i didn't care if it was full priced, the game is worth it. Music is great, characters are pretty cool, and the gameplay is fun, but my favorite thing of all has to be the monster designs. Each is different and unique. It amplifies the fighting and adventuring aspect by making you wonder when you'll find the next new enemy type, what they look like, what their counters are. Everything about the enemies is so unique and interesting. If you're on the fence, the eshop demo is about 10 hours long if you take your time with it. That's how massive the game is, they just give you 10 hours to play for free in the demo because you'll still have so much to do in the main game. Also, your save data can transfer. So you can buy this online and keep playing the demo until your copy shows up.

    Classic console RPG goodness

Played before on PC and had to get the Switch version for all the enhancements it offers. 2D mode is awesome, though I wish the change was a bit more seamless than it actually is. It's understandable though, as it's basically switching to an entirely different game with a separate save file and everything. The orchestrated music is great as well. Pick it up if you are fan of Japanese console RPGs.

Dragon Quest is the definition of classic JRPG, and this one is no exception. Dragon Quest XI S adds a lot of content and makes a lot of quality of life changes that players of this version are going to feel great about. This is the definitive version of the game, and is one of the best RPGs on Nintendo Switch.

Annoying music can not be turned off. The music is repetitive it becomes annoying very quickly. Do not recommend this game.
