Awesome visuals but lacking in gameplay.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The car models are some of the best if not the best I've seen in a racing game, very detailed. With the new patch the dynamic weather really adds to the racing experience but where this game fails is the gameplay the ai is constantly rear ending you and they are really not very competitive. Overall its an ok game.

Visually Amazing Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game had some hiccups in the beginning, but these issues have been resolved. Visually, this game is stunning. Not as much as an arcade racer, but more of a simulation game. The graphics are truly next gen and if you're fan of simulation racing games, you'll enjoy this one.

Great Driving Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was hesitating on this game for awhile, been a big fan of Gran Tourismo, being that there wasn't a new one coming out I decided to give this a go when it dropped to $20. Enjoyed the race and 'licensing". Definitely less realistic compared to GT. Still a great game for those looking for a driving game for the PS4. Project Cars is another to check out.

Best racer for PS4
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is currently the best racing game for the PS4, Project Cars hasn't been released as of this post. That being said, I still prefer Forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 for Xbox One. But if you don't have an Xbox One and are looking for a solid racing game you can't do any worse at the moment.

Getting better with time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a game that has already come along way since launch and appears to continue to keep getting more updates to just make it better. I got it when it was on sale for $40 and got the additional 20% off with my gamerclub membership. I'd say at that price I feel satisfied with my purchase, but I may have felt a bit slighted had I paid the full $60.

Overall, very well done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very well, very polished game. You can tell they've post-poned this game to work out all the kinks. This game runs like a dream. Responsive controls, amazing visuals... but whats more important is its content. There's so many features and game modes that keeps you coming back for more. Wish there was a bigger car list, but this game isn't trying to compete with Gran Turismo or Forza. Overall, the "feel" has been wonderful. Its the best, maybe the only racing game worth buying till The Crew and Project Cars are released later.

Very Good Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased Driveclub recently and it is a good game. Excellent Graphics/Audio and challenging gameplay. There is numerous content on the game and more downloadable content in the Playstation Store. You definetly get your moneys worth on how big the game is. At first I had heard about all these issues with it and waited a long time to buy it. Now everything is fixed except the issue with trying to join tournaments. I have gotten in some but its still something that needs to be improved. I thoroughly enjoy Driveclub personally and would highly recommend it over the other racing games out there.

Excellent Graphics and Gameplay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first thought about this game is how amazing the graphics are. They just looks outstanding beautiful in every way. Since the new weather system it looks even more amazing. The gameplay is fun and driving physics are great. The AI can get challenging at times but its a racing game. This is probbaly the best looking racing game on a console.

Great Hybrid Racer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very funny racing game. I was skeptical of this game because of all the delays but the weather update pushed me over the edge. It's a mix between arcade and sim. Very fun. Go buy and try it out yourself. =)

Lacking Content
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although the game had one of the worst launches in 2014. The game isn't so bad. The graphics and weather effects are gorgeous! However, the game is lacking Japanese and American cars. The customization isn't in dept as to the Forza games. Maybe skip this one or buy it on sale. Do not pay full price for this.

Average video game with above average expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game was suppose to come out at the last year with the release of the PS4. It did not was pushed back multiple times. A month or so after the release its still a mess the online doesn't work for the most part. Its a decent game, it looks good, not anything amazing and definitely does not reinvent the racing genre in any way. I'd wait for a price drop if I could buy it over again

Amazing racing sim with arcade elements
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't normally enjoy racing games but this is a great one! The addictive gameplay and mesmerizing graphics kept me hooked for days. I've had this game for over a year and I still come back to it daily, even though I have newer racing games. It's a must buy for even a casual racing game fan!

Boring
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Driveclub was incredibly overhyped from the outset and since then has amazingly underperformed. This was supposed to be a huge release for the PS4 but was plagued with tons of server issues that crippled much of the game and delayed the PS Plus release version for well over half a year (in addition to stripping much of the promised content). As for the game itself the best word to use for it is boring. It's a dull racing game with no real career mode, no real upgrades and a very limited car selection. The game doesn't drive very well (its not a sim nor is it fun like an arcade racer), the AI for lack of a better word "cheats" to make up for how stupid it is, and again it's just kind of dull. The only real plus is the graphics, which are very good - and the night time lighting is fantastic. But overall this game is a great example of why good graphics don't make a game.

I got yer review right HERE...OOOH!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After all the time delaying it from being launched with the PS4, it doesn't live up to the hype. Well, not in my eyes anyway. At launch the DriveClub servers were down so I couldn't create or join a club and couldn't do some other options that pertain to that part of the game. Not a big deal. So based on strictly the single player part of the game... It's definitely not a Gran Turismo or Forza It's weird, when you first launch the game, you get a controller layout screen. You say "ok" when satisfied and you're immediately thrown into a race. I'm like..huh?? Where's the intro screen? Where's the tutorial? Where's the menu screen? Where's the music? So the race begins with the words "READY"...then "GO". And I'm lost because usually during a race there's a numerical countdown, or a light tree showing the red lights down to green. Nope none of that. So the race starts, I'm not giving any gas cause I was waiting on a count down of some sort. The word GO appears and everyone takes off. Except me. So I gas it, catch up and eventually pull the lead. I notice a point system adding up when I pass, draft or drift. I notice points deducted when I hit walls, hit other cars or go off track. It's definitely a different type of racing game, but I get used to it. And I start feeling comfortable with the game. But I also notice things like.... You can't customize your car in any way to make it handle better or more powerful. There are no specs on the cars as far as HP, torque, weight, ride height, nothing of that nature. The only thing that exists are bars showing power, handling, acceleration, top speed and something else. You can't change the rims, ride height, weight or tweak it in any way. In a game that is "club" designed, to not be able to modify your cars performance goes against any type of racing club format. I you had a real car and you were in a real racing club, would you want to change your car's performance to make it perform better to win more races? Or course you would. Yeah...you can't do that here. What you CAN change is the paint and graphical patterns. You unlock more patterns as you progress and win more races. But that really isn't any fun to do so I pretty much left cars as is. Another thing you CAN do is, choose what your driver looks like. Male, female, their race, and a few outfits. But why? In a racing game where the cars are the stars, why do I need to care about what the driver behind the wheel looks like? Why waste the space on the disc with unnecessary stuff like that? What designer thought putting that in was a good idea?! It makes no sense! How about removing that as an option and adding the ability to modify your cars?! Who cares about digital drivers?! The damage to the cars is so so. I got T-boned at a hairpin turn and heard this 'crunch'. I turned the camera to see the damage and there was none at all. Graphically when using the behind the car view I'd say it's a little better looking than the very end of last gen systems. Maybe I’m being too picky here, I’ll have to really look at it again next time I boot it up. But I remember not being too impressed. The 'in car view' where you see the steering wheel, dash lay out, and the detail on working gauges, reflections and glares on the window is really cool. But I usually play a racing game from behind the car so I can see the exact moment when a rear tire starts smoking or sliding. In a real car you can FEEL that happening and adjust accordingly. But in a game from the 'in car view', you of course can't feel it and you don't see it happening either. ..but that's me. The scenery at some spots is very generic. Some tunnels you go into are very ‘arcadey’ and remind me of a design layout from Outrun where they use the same pattern for rocks over and over. And the dirt that get's thrown up when you drive over shoulders on the road seems unfinished and rushed or even forgotten about. Like hardly anything gets kicked up. When you cross the finish line the animation freezes for a moment making you think the game froze. But it doesn't. ..kinda scary. The lighting is nice looking. The sun like in real life, can get annoying when it’s right in front of you almost blinding you from seeing the road properly. This is actually a good thing…it shows attention to detail. Break lights in the dark are pretty bright and a little distracting at first. But still nice to see they put it in there. Controlling the cars is easy. And there are some differences between the cars and how they handle from each other, but you feel disconnected from them somehow. I think it might be the handling, and the engine sound. The sound is just average to me. I've heard better engine audio from GT5 on PS3. I think another thing that disconnected me from the game is there are no REAL tracks in it. To be able to race on real world tracks is something that I like doing. I don't mind custom tracks thrown in the mix, I really don't. But to leave out real world tracks on a game that has you racing real world cars, is just a mistake in my eyes. There are some spots on the tracks where there are challenges. Where one may be a cornering challenge, or a speed challenge, drift challenge, etc. It doesn't interfere with the race at all, it happens while you're racing. For instance the speed challenge, you'll see a marker coming up on the track. You drive through it and the challenge begins. Now you must beat the set amount of MPH that was set by the computer (or a friend) before you get to the part of the track where you can see the end of the challenge. And you can set challenges for others to beat as well. The AI is somewhat good and they do crash here and there, giving you obstacles to avoid at high speed. In some later races it's a little challenging to get in the lead. And when you are in the lead you aren't smoking the competition like you do in GT5. They're not on your bumper, but they will catch up and pass you if you mess up. (they're maybe 5 seconds behind -- at the most!) I scraped the wall for about 2 seconds. And suddenly I had 6 cars pass me like I was standing still. I still won, but I had to work for it. So that is a cool thing since with that, it doesn't get boring. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad game. It's no Forza killer nor will it make you forget Gran Turismo. The game is good looking, runs super smooth, and it's fun to play (audio could be better though IMHO). I guess I just expected more out of it based on the lengthy delay, videos, screen shots, and all the hype about it. It'll fill my racing void until Project Cars comes next year sometime. ....customizable drivers, sheesh...what a waste. Side note... After a month of having it, I finished all the races. And now there really isn't much more to do beside get gold stars in everything (which for me is only about 4 more to get) and it really isn't that fun to try to do. Yeah I could race online. But um...there's a little thing about those servers....they're unreliable as far as being up for you to race online. At this point I don't recommend it to ta friend. Maybe if later there are some improvements made to online reliability, sound improvements, REAL world tracks added, and at least SOME modifying of the vehicles to improve their performance...I would say yes.
