There are very easy to set up and place in remote places. It doesn't seem to take up too much wireless bandwidth.

Great item worth the money records and the speaker work excellently.the recording option is expensive.

We purchased the dropcam as a baby monitor for our second kid and we wildly disappointed. The camera kept dropping the connection from our network even when I upgraded our router to the Apple AirPort Extreme. The connection did have to go through a plaster wall and our A/C and heater is near the router but I tested the network speeds and signal to noise ratio it all the numbers looked good. The only upside to the camera was the setup and configuration were very easy. Very user friendly with plug and play interface/setup. Overall, My wife and I were disappointed with the camera. We returned it and purchased a Y-cam Cube because we have a Knight S for our first kid.

I bought this camera to be able to "check in" on my dog (and my house) while away. The setup was the easiest process I think I have ever experienced, and took only a couple of minutes. I'm confident that someone with very little computer knowledge would be able to handle this setup. I first began viewing the streaming video on my laptop. the picture is very clear and the wide viewing rage a plus, considering there is no remote pan or tilt option. I easily downloaded the Dropcam app on my Android device and began viewing the live stream there. For someone who is using the camera for surveillance when the home is empty, the option to receive notifications when motion is detected is an added bonus. I'm very happy with my purchase and can see myself adding an additional camera to the mix in the future.

After a hourlong phone with tech support, they told me to return defective cam to store. Best buy then gave me trouble. Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr

The Dropcam is a very good, very easy to use and set up device.The firmware has been updated since many of the negative reviews were posted, so there have been some improvements with motion detection but i don't think that is enough,the motion sensor is too sensitive which causes it to send you notification all the time (if you have sent it up).This are fixable problem with new software update so the drop cam is a pretty good web cam and probably the best amount all web cam i have used despite the fact that it is quite expensive comparing to similar webcam. Since the drop cam does not support a DVR or SD card to save your footage so if you want it to be saved you will have to subscribe to the cloud recoding program which will have your footage save to the cloud base server and it cost $100 a year or $10 a month.

I bought this camera on Black Friday and wish I bought 2 as it was $99.99. Bought it on a whim but glad I did. I use it watch my dogs as neighbor complains they bark when I'm not home. Not true! I can see if anyone comes in the front door also and love the fact that I can use my iphone to check up on them. I have told many friends about it with dogs and they have gone out and bought one. The picture and sound are great, night view is awesome and I get emails when motions is detected. Obviously with two dogs walking around I get lots of those but its what I want. Wasn't interested in spending the $ for their cloud storage as it is not needed. If I saw something odd I would just take a screen shot with my iphone and that works for me also. I will be getting another one!
