Good quality controller and worth the buy

Solid Unit, Nostalgia Factor, Suspect Battery

The nostalgia factor is strong here, and it was one of the reasons I bought it (well, it was on sale too, cheaper than a "typical" DS4 even). The battery life, though, is just as suspect as the battery life in other DS4s I've used. These things just do not hold charge for long. I generally turn vibration off, dim the light bar as much as feasible, have controller turn off after an hour of non-use, and rarely use a headset (not sure how much a headset might matter here, but mentioning it nonetheless). Even with all that, the battery still drains from 100% to 50% after 10 or maybe 15 hours of playing. This didn't happen with DS3s, so not sure how much more technically complex the DS4 is over those. There are plenty of homebrew ways to change the battery out for a better one (online search is your friend if you go this route). Still, it's disappointing to have to do that on a brand new item. While recommended, keep that charging cable at the ready.
