Feels like there is a bit of texture to the camo pattern. Performs great. After charging it up, by remote charging station, you'll need to plug it in to the PS4 with a USB PS4 cable. That way the PS4 recognizes the controller.

Looks can be deceiving, huge improvement over DS3

The controller has a nice solid weight to it and feels better in the hands. The analog sticks are much more responsive especially for L3/R3 functions. Additionally, the new options/share features allow quicker access to game/PS4 functions. Another great feature is it's simply Bluetooth pairing methods if you want to use the controller on a PC/Mac for emulators or Steam games.

The Remedy for Stick Drift

The red color I could care less about. The color does signify the latest controller and the most functional. If there were a black controller at Best Buy I would have bought that, but buyers can't be picky these COVID days.
