Basically the stereotypical zombie game, but it is still cool.

Fair warning to anybody who gets motion sickness when playing first-person shooters. Most survival horror games have a third-person format. This one does not. I was only able to play the opening sequence for about 15 minutes before I had to stop.

Unbiased review from a moderate gamer

I bought this blindly, not knowing too much about it except having played Dead Island a few years back. I preordered it but wanted to wait to confirm positive reviews before picking it up. I went ahead and impatiently bought it after reading reviews claiming that it was bad. The game is not as bad as people are claiming, it is rather fun with a combination of parcour and classic Dead Island gameplay. In a way, it fells like a Dead Island sequel [from the same game company] with improvements on some realism like climbing to protect yourself by learning defensive and offensive moves with addition of zombie mechanics. At night things become even more intense and scary while the zombies transform into something far more sinister than what we are used to. If you make too much noise exploding things or firing a gun, you will bring groups of crazy-fast newly 'turned' zombies right to you. For the bad, I was really disappointed with the graphics for a PS4 game. In a way, it feels like I'm playing Dead Island on PS3 graphics wise. The characters look terrible, it's like their body language is delayed from their voice and their facial motions are terribly destracting. The other side is the voice acting which is terrible and also very destracting. It takes me away from getting into the game. The plot isn't terrible but it is fairly entertaining with all the things you can do. It has similar side quests like Dead Island and you can alternate between them and the main quest. The maps feel about the same size as Dead Island, but a bit larger. There are different types of zombies; normal slow zombies, fast newly 'turned' zombies, toxic spitters, huge strong zombies, exploding zombies, etc. The developers put a lot of work on the game despite the graphics, I never get annoyed with the character doing something I didn't tell him to do. Although the game feels like it's a exact copy of Dead Island at times, the new features will entertain the fans of zombie games. Despite the voice and visual graphics, the developers clearly focused more on the mechanics of the game rather than making the game a visual treat. Don't be turned off by some of these other reviewers who were expecting something different.

After playing this game a few times it became the same old thing. I recently jumped up from PS3 to 4 and so far every PS4 game I've played has been dull.

Until you get the game running it takes eons. The tutorials are boring & lengthy. Better wait for MK or buy Saints Row 4.

Just picked this up and already put about 10 hours in and im only 13% done with the main story line.I was very sceptical about this game because ive played dead island(the other techland zombie game)but never really got to in to it.I have to applaud techland as this game is really fun.if you like exploring and just doing your own thing you can, and you will occasionally find survivors with their own side quest to keep you busy.night time is really awesome as it becomes a real survival horror game where you really have to survive until morning.I love when the sun drops and the real threats come out plus you earn more xp at night.I really recommend the game for its tense nighttime gameplay and its awesome sense of exploring the city of harran.the zombies are also varied and new ones keep getting introduced just when you think you seen them all.buy it you wont be disappointed.

Well if you're into Zombie runs, you'll like this one. It's got multiplayer co'op. So few games have it these days. You don't stomp through the zombies starting out. It's serious business to kill one! The story is lengthy, it's scary in some parts. I call it Fallout: Zombies. It reminds me a lot of Fallout 3. I love the crafting. Skills and Perks are solid boosts to the fun. There is a drop-kick technique that's fun to incorporate with the takedowns! The best part! You can harass other players by being a zombie. I've got about 20 hours invested so far.

the game is solid in combat, parkour style movement and the crafting/weapons systems. Character progression/skill trees are great!. Areas that leave a lot to be desired such as character/voice acting are easily overlooked by solid graphics and an overall ability to not bore you out within a few hours as most zombie games are notorious for. I would give this game a solid 9/10, ONLY taking the one point away due to pretty bad voice acting which takes away a little of the immersion in-game. Must own though, quit reading and start chopping zombies!!
