Same Old Zombies, But That's Good!

Dying Light is what Dead Island should have been years ago. The controls take a little getting used to (jump is a shoulder button), but overall it feels good while playing. The typical zombie movie/game plots & characters are there, but I'm having fun with my playthrough. If you like zombies, you'll most likely enjoy Dying Light. Minus 1 star for some bugs and repetitive missions, but that comes with the territory for open world games.

I had low expectations going into this game and was completely surprised by how great this game is. It is not a run and hide game like outlast or The Evil Within. It plays like a well polished Dead Island with a hint of Assassins Creed. Go get it and see for yourself.

I really enjoyed playing this game. Many people complain about poor story, however I must disagree. It is not "last of us" type of story, however it is ok. The open world area is huge and there are a tons of things to do. You will not get bored. Once I finished the story, there was still a lot to do, with all the side quests and exploring.

After being unimpressed with Dead Island, I didn't expect much from this game leading up to release. I had it preordered (because I like zombie games# but ended up canceling it because I was sure it wasn't going to be any good. Boy was I wrong. After reading a few reviews, I decided to go ahead and pick it up. What a fantastic game. The movement controls feel great after you get used to them. It's not very intuitive to have the jump button on the right bumper, but after you play a while it makes a lot of sense. You need that freedom of movement on the right stick while still being able to jump. There's a huge variety of missions and the story itself is even enjoyable if a bit predictable. I love the skill trees and character progression system as well. You start off feeling like a weakling but it doesn't take long before you're rocking the streets and no longer afraid to go out at night #believe me, at first the night is terrifying). If you're looking for a fun, deep, rewarding game, look no further.

Better combat than Dead Island and way better graphics and framerate since it's on the new-gen systems. Decent story as well. If you pre-ordered, you get a code to play as the Zombie and that's a blast too.

    Nearly Perfect Zombie Game!

I can't stop playing this game! I love playing zombie games - the list of zombie games I've played is too long for this review - and this is the #1 zombie game I've ever played. The developer combines eerie music and really creepy lighting and sound effects to create a tension - filled atmosphere that truly scares you at times. That's especially true when night time gets nearer! Radio messages warn that it's only an hour until night and to find the nearest safe house ("Don't be playing hero in the dark. Find the nearest safe house and wait until dawn."). Once it is almost completely dark - and the city is a "pitch black" dark once the sun goes down - you get the last message you'll get before the worst of the zombies comes out: "Night is Coming." If you're away from a safe house and you see that message the fear you feel is real! If you're a fan of any of the Fall Out or Assassin's Creed titles, you'll feel right at home with "Dying Light". After about the first 30 minutes, your character, Kyle Crane, realizes he's stuck in the city for the long haul. Then you can start doing side missions and quests and earn different rewards based on type and difficulty. The story of what happened in the city gradually becomes clear as you do each quest, too. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because, as of this writing (April 25, 2015), the challenges you have to complete to 100% the game are glitched and very hard to finish. It can be done, but it takes some perseverance and some research on YouTube for hints to get them done. But Challenges were the only part of the game I thought were either glitched or just too difficult to complete without help from YouTube. The co-op part of the game was really smooth. I played several parts of the main campaign story co-op and there were no lag issues or anything. This is pretty good considering I live in the U.S. and the person I played co-op with lives in Japan! Co-op is also a good way to get past a campaign mission or side quest you're struggling with. You can have up to 3 friends join your game. It's much easier to take on the worst of the zombies with a friend or two. I definitely recommend "Dying LIght" for zombie fans. You'll love using all that Zombie Apocalypse Survival knowledge you've learned playing other zombie games to try and survive this one. It gets even better as you rank up your character and weapons.

Worth a play. Nothing new. GREAT soundtrack!

Dying Light is kinda one of those games that takes a lot of stuff that worked in other games and lumped them into one. It is nothing new, but something borrowed. It splices Dead Island (same studio, I know) with elements of Farcry, Borderlands, and other similar titles. You level up, you craft items, and you liberate "safe areas". Overall, the main story missions are really fun to play. They have a decent amount of depth and variance. As I expected, the side missions turn you into an "errand boy". While I know many RPG-esque games do, DL literally has you fetching grocery lists and returning. Finding items, returning. Turning on switches, returning. Nothing too great or rewarding there. One thing I do LOVE about this game is the quirky, really fitting soundtrack. Normally I could care less, but they did an AMAZING job fitting music to scenarios. It really adds a level of emotion to the game that is somewhat lacking elsewhere. Running through apartments battling zombies and armed bandits is great, but add a killer track to it...AMAZING! Don't even get me started on the voice acting. I CANNOT believe that the producers and studio thought the voice acting was good. It is so unbelievably cheesy at times it makes you cringe! It's not Gears of War lame, but almost. Names and locations are also pretty horrid. Not that it's thaaaat big of a deal, but well-thought details such as this can add or detract. Overall, gameplay is fun enough. I used DL as a filler game before Evolve and Order 1886, and it fits the bill nicely. I wouldn't recommend dropping everything you're doing to play it, but it is worth a play between more desirable games.

I would like to write a thorough review on every detail, but by now you probably have already seen a lot of the good words about this game. Not only is it very well made, and makes you feel immersed entirely in the game. The flow is amazing, and it has quite a few moments where it really plays with your emotions, and a game that can do that is a good one indeed. So far this definetly is ranking near the top of my Game Of The Year list, shortly behind is 'Life Is Strange'.

Add me on PsN - BKz_Reaper I was debating between this title and Dragon Age. I picked this title and went in with 0(Zero) expectation. I adjusted to the controls pretty quick and immediately started to roam around the first mission after the prologue. I leveled up each skill tree 3x each before I finally decided to complete the first mission. You will earn skill points which you will place into the skill tree that will later unlock more useful actions during gameplay. I don't want to race through the main game mission otherwise I'd be left with only side missions, trophy hunt, assisting other players in their story and be the zombie mode. Of course now by the time you read this I will be farther ahead in the game. After a few minutes you will start to have flash backs to the following titles Dead Island, Mirrors Edge, Dead Rising, borderlands and left for dead. CO OP The feature is what makes this game fun to play imo because I am a huge CO OP game fan. You can drop-in & drop-out as you please with no penalty and the great thing about the loot feature is no fights over the loot since every player loots something different. Day & Night At sunset you will notice zombies get more aggressive unlike the morning walking dead style. When the sun completely sets you will catch a triangle on the map with a line of site zone - those are the zombie on bath salt. They will tear you apart limb from limb but you can flash the UV Ray at them leading to an opening attack ( Great way to earn experience.# The night is when you also gain double experience for each action performed. Hunted/Hunter - Competitive I assume the game is in need of massive patching because the BE THE ZOMBIE mode will not find a match for me yet everything else works just fine. When playing co op during the night you will notice a warning on the screen when someone queued as The be the zombie and they matched up to your game server. After the first 5 times I became extremely annoyed with the feature. - I immediately defend my co op buddies by providing cover as they destroy the nest. - I go on my own and solo the player hunting us and gain a lot of exp by killing the #hunter)player over and over. - With my squad we team up and kill the hunter as we raid the nest until we completed the mission or the hunter rage quits. - Hold X - survival skill to locate the hunter, loot and zombies All other pop up events I tend to ignore. Skill Tree The fact that you can level up your 3 skill tree based off performance is awesome as each one breaks down into actions that can help you out in the long run. The stealthy skills become useless in the hunted mode so if that is a mode you enjoy playing at night then don't spec into stealthy stuff. That will end my review

If you can get past the story of the game, which is out there, you have a really fun zombie game with some great graphics and interesting multiplayer. I'd recommend to anyone looking for some fun hours of play, which at times can give a scare or two. Only negative is the story, beyond that, the game is worth buying.

This game is what Dead Island should have been from the start! Techland really did a great job with this! Fun, fast, frantic action from beginning to end! And, the side quests really add to the story. I enjoyed this game so much. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate any longer. You will not regret this purchase!

If you're a fan of zombies this is the perfect game. The music is straight from a George Romero movie and a lot of the game reminds me of the Walking Dead. It's really buggy right now (some trophies not working) otherwise I would've given it a 5. Very intense and scary game. Definitely recommended.

This is the greatest game on the ps4 so far. The game is great. So much fun and has lots of activities to do. The challenges are actually challenging. It seems the developers put time into the game. It is a must buy game. And the game has coop!! Not many coop games out there.

I admit i was skeptical at first since i wasn't a fan of techland's former game Dead Island but i wanted another multiplayer game to play with my friends and i went for the dive. I am glad i did, the fun factor kicks up around the first 6 or so hours in the game when you start to learn new abilities and the amount of content is quite staggering in terms of side quest which sometimes feel like part of the main story. Which is a good thing meaning techland put work on the quality of them overall aside from glitches and a few locomotion qwerks a great game by yourself, and awesome one with friends.
