Quality built, but this is a PASSIVE cable

Unfortunately, I bought this cable hoping to connect from a thunderbolt 3 dock DisplayPort input to HDMI for an external monitor only to realize this is a PASSIVE non D++ cable. Returning this as I cannot confirm if it works or not, but in my scenario/set up it was a no go.

It Works But...

It does work but the resolution tops out at 1920 x 1080 (the monitor's resolution is 2560 x 1080). My guess is these two display connections don't like each other. But I'll keep this for future IT stuff (repair diagnostics, testing, etc.).
