Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.What I needed was a HDMI port cable or adapter from my laptop ( which is roughly a $2,300 gaming laptop by MSI ) to go into a display port into my alien ware 24ohz monitor. I was assured that the cable I was buying would do the trick by a very nice and helpful Best Buy employee, none the less she went out of her way to find me an open box version of this cable which was about $10 but unfortunately after getting home and attempting to use it and then further researching why it wasn't working I realized the Dynex cable I had purchased it's not going to work whatsoever.

I tried it a chromebook to a monitor that only had a display port available and it didn't work, then I tried it with another laptop to the same monitor, no luck, then a laptop and the chromebook to a brand new monitor... still nothing... so I returned it back to bestbuy and just ended up buying a new monitor that I could use just a straight HDMI cable on.

The packaging doesn’t indicate that this cable only works going from DP out to HDMI in. So unfortunately more buyers will get tricked and forced to return a cable that won’t work for what they need.

It has taken me 2 months to figure out why I couldn't get the monitors to come in correct and 1 of the cables is bad. It says I'm past the return date so stuck with it.

From additional research, specifications of the Displayport and HDMI are not compatible. Second issue, IMO Best Buys return policy of 15 days is very limiting as compared to other vendors.

Return the cable. Would have definitely used the cable if it worked.
