This Dyson replaces an old cheap vacuum that was having issues. THE GOOD: +Strong suction picked up a lot of dust that the old vacuum left behind +Easy to maneuver with the ball and rollers +Easy to remove/reattach collection canister +Less likely to get caught up on carpet threads than others +Reasonably quiet +Plenty of attachments for versatile cleaning options THE BAD: -Assembly instructions were very limited. Some parts snap into place, others slide into place which was not well documented. -For such an expensive heavy vacuum, the lightweight plastic stick portion feels flimsy and cheap. -The upright locking mechanism doesn't feel as secure as it could. Overall, I rate it good because it works better than any other vacuum I've used however the plastics and tricky assembly are worth noting.

We came from a very overpriced Robo vac and we have a toddler who likes to throw food and make confetti out of paper. I was working at the time, but I sent my wife and told her to show the salesman the carpet and ask what would fix it. This is the vacuum he recommended, but it was sold out at the time. So he sold her the slightly cheaper orange version instead. It was a good vac. Then days later, this vac went on sale for half off and it was in stock. My wife told me it's the one she wanted originally, so we ordered it. This one is WAY more powerful than the orange one. Even the head is noticeably bigger. This one is very good at picking things up, but it's not perfect. You gotta plug it up, it's heavy and it's insanely loud. These are things to take into consideration, but they're valid tradeoffs. To be as powerful as it is, you have to plug it it in and it will be loud and heavy on account of the motors.

Moves easily. Great suction, mamy atrachments come with. Good floor coverage. Has a cleanable filter. One clock button to move from carpet to hars floor. East to empty. Bought as a replacemt for Dyson Animal i had for years.

So far this vacuum is good. It does a pretty good job. Not a huge fan of taking the handle apart any time I want to use an attachment. But suction is solid. Also am not a fan of non of the attachments actually able to be stored on the vacuum. Well 2 small ones but 4 others I have to store in a closet. I wish it all could fit. Also when I roll it not on sometimes it just falls into place to vacuum instead of just roll. Minor complaints. But I do like the vacuum

Does a great job and all the attachments you could ask for. Cord more than long enough. A bit heavier than I expected but still much lighter than my last vacuum.

I got my first dyson animal from my mom in 2013 when she moved, loved that until it finally had it. We bought another animal ball and it did so well and cleaned suoer well on both hard surfaces and carpet. You can really see hiw mich dirt gets picked up and its crazy to see what cones out. This new one is the same dyson quality im used to and doesn’t disappoint! The suction is amazing, cord is long enough for plenty of coverage. Some people say its hard to push becsuse of the powerful suction it has. My wife had no issues with it. We live the dyson when it comes to being clean.

Love that it has great suction, but I was afraid I was going to have to return it because I was exhausted after I had finished vacuuming my small condo. This is not new carpet either! I googled to see if there was a solution and found I was not the only one with this same problem. Dyson, you need to pay that guy on the video!! Problem solved by putting two rubber washers on the floating doohickey thing! Otherwise this is a good solid vacuum. It is quite heavy though. This is replacing a Dyson I had for a number of years. Little pricey and I would never pay full price! I got it on sale at Best Buy.

I bought this machine to replace my 19 year old Dyson DC14 vacuum which finally quit. I thought that this (ball) construction would be easier to maneuver than my DC14, but so far I have not been able to fully get used to it (I've had it now for a couple of months or so and use it at least once a week). It does not bend and maneuver like their stick vacuums (I also have a V11). But it sure does a great job removing cat fur, dust and dirt from our rugs and linoleum. I would recommend this to anyone who may need a good vacuum for allergy issues.

The vaccum is very powerful so I don’t mind that it can be slightly heavy to manuever. The parts of the vaccum do feel a bit “plasticy” for the price but overall I am happy to use it.

Good suction but it is a little bit hard to push. I wish the head was a little bit narrower. It would also be good if you could adjust the height.

This is vacuum is fabulous, so much better than Animal 3 which I returned for this it comes with so many tools and attachments that you will use.

THIS is the upright of choice if you are going to buy a Dyson. There are a few models out there. I like this because it has plenty of attachments and boy, does it suck! It really does the job! Maybe a little too well at times, it is hard to push it sometimes once that vacuum pressure is on a carpet. This is a good way to build up some muscle. Beware those with weak upper body strength, this might not work for you. The one thing I would like now is a wall mount for the extra tools.

The best pet and allergy vacuum I've owned. This has great suction power with it being easy to push. It is easy to clean and just works for us. The only knock I would say is that when you use the wand to clean a fan or some are above the floor, the vacuum tends to fall over. I wish Dyson would come up with a way to keep the vacuum from falling over when using the hose. Otherwise, I think this is a great vaccum cleaner.

The suction is spot on, the only thing I hate about this machine is that it’s difficult to move from room to room, like the front end goes down instead of being able to pop it into a wheelie position. That might not make sense until it happens to you. Also, the hose for attachments is super stiff making it difficult to run along base boards and such. Hopefully it will loosen up a bit over time. The suction is 10 stars though!

I had the original Dyson upright for the last 16 and 1/2 years and it just barely stopped having suction. Saw this one and was debating between the animal three or this one. I saw someone else's review on how great the LR21 was for the suction. So I went for it. Got it at Black Friday and I can't believe how much I brought my carpet back to life!!!! It's seriously the best investment. I've made having any Dyson. But this one is freaking exceptional. So glad I upgraded to this. It's been completely worth it!

This is my second Dyson upright machine. I still use my original orange “ball” vacuum but wanted another for the second floor as carrying that machine was getting to be too much for me. The top three things I love about this model are the long cord, amazing suction and the additional tools. No trouble maneuvering the machine over carpet, area rugs, and vinyl flooring. There are only two minor things on this machine that could be improved. First, the piece that you wind the cord around at the top seems kinda flimsy. It could stand to be sturdier since we wrap and unwrap that cord constantly. Secondly, the release to put the handle into a vacuuming position is hard to get used to. My older Dyson, (20 years), had a foot lever to release the vacuum from its upright position. That’s the reason I took away one star. You can’t beat the performance of this machine! I highly recommend! We do not have any pets so I cannot comment on how well it works on pet hair. We are in our 70’s and found this machine easy to assemble and easy to navigate from carpet to bare floors! Try it for yourself!!!

Recently upgraded from another Dyson. This vacuum has such great suction and the floor brush works great. There's also a lot of attachments that are awesome.

Have been using Dyson products for 40+ years and this sweepers technology keeps customers coming back. My last Big Ball Animal upright lasted 20+ years and still works but the hoses are dried out and cracking. The suction on this new unit are impressive and exceeds the competition so I'm not sure anything else needs to be said, The maneuverability has improved over previous models and you don't need to manually adjust the cleaning head for floor types like the Ball Animal 3 and other Dyson upright models require now. This sweeper does a great job at picking up dog hair and anything else on the floor.

powerful suction but the design is not as good as my last Dyson, falls over and difficult to lift out the long suction piece to add smaller tools, difficult to get back together. Wish they had kept old design (much better), very expensive also.
