So much hype around these things and yes the suction is good. But what people should know is that outside the actual motor itself, this entire thing is plastic - and not even sturdy glass-fiber reinforced. Very flimsy parts so vacuum gently! Not a great value for $400

This is the third Dyson I have owned and the first time I have ever been disappointed in a Dyson. I have an area carpet that is very short napped. When I set the manual height adjustment (problem one. Height adjustment use to be automatic) the suction is so great I literally can not push or pull the vacuum across the rug. If I set it for a high pile rug like a shag I can at least pull it across the carpet with a lot of effort. I should not have to fight this hard to use this unit and it has remained this tough so it's not like the unit had to be broken in or something. Problem 2 is because of the suction when I use the hose I have to fight to use it and it pulls the unit over. Basically the hose is not usable anymore. Problem 3 they have reduced the width of the brush head so now you have to make more passes and do more work to cover the same area. The only good thing is the pet hair removal design does work very well. I have 3 long haired dogs and so far no pet hair on the roller brush. I am past the return point so I am stuck with this unit. I'll probably use it only for my tile floors and be forced to buy a shark for the carpet areas.

The Dyson Ball is very highly rated and a quality product. However, this model was too heavy for my wife to handle. We returned this model and now have a version of the Dyson Ball that is much lighter and easy for her to handle.

We just bought the Dyson - Ball Animal 3. I have already given a review of Dyson, but this is based upon more usage. I welcome someone from Dyson responding to this. I have 9 days to return it and would just as soon keep it, but.. The 'but' is how useless the hose is. The hose is quite long and has great promise, but it seems to be impossible to us it an any reasonable length of extension. First you cannot extend it and keep it extended when you turn the machine on. The suction draws the hose back together with more force than let you maintain a more full extension. You need an assistant to hold the vacuum as you use the extended hose. If the hose has shrunk upon itself, you cannot re-extend it without your assistant holding the vacuum or you turn it off and start all over again. Is anyone able to use the machine by yourself and maintain a fully extended hose? What about someone from Dyson answering? The length of the hose is totally useless. I doubt if we will keep this machine. Can anyone assist us to keep it? Thanks and best
