I bought this vacuum to replace a Hoover that required too much maintenance. The Dyson is more powerful and easy to use and keep in good order. My only complaint is that two attachments don't fit on the vacuum and must be stored separately.

I purchased the Dyson animal vacuum on Black Thursday. My old vacuum quit doing the job, and the price for the Dyson was right ($300). This is a very powerful vacuum and makes old carpeting look beautiful. It is a touch on the heavy side, so if u have strength or joint mobility issues a lighter vacuum may work out better.

I got this on sale when my old vacuum died. This works great and covers a lot of area fast. I have two cats and it handles cat hair and litter just fine. It looks bulky but it actually doesn’t take up much space when stored away. I will say I had to watch some YouTube videos to understand all the ways to use it and its attachments. Once you get comfortable with it though it really fun to clean with.

Its a great vacuum but very heavy to maneuver. But def picks up dog hair great

Purchased as a replacement for my DC 40. I found this new model to be quite a bit heavier, and slightly bigger than my DC 40, but the compensation is that Dyson Animal has more suction and is more maneuverable which is more important in a quality vacuum.

I have 2 dogs and two cats- that is a lot of pet fur. This vacuum is great at cleaning the hardwoods as well as carpets. The cord length is good also.

The Dyson Ball Animal is the exact vacuum I have been looking for quite some time now. It has powerful suction power, a lot of attachments and a convenient retractable hose that makes cleaning steps less of a chore. I highly recommend this product.

For the last seven months, I've really tried to like this vacuum cleaner. I just can't, here's why: 1. It's ridiculously heavy and poorly balanced. 2. There's no storage for the accessories - and the one you don't want to lose (the hand-held carpet cleaner) TURNS ON when the vacuum is locked upright, meaning anything hovering near the handle is likely to get eaten/wrapped up. 3. It smells like burning plastic all the time, is very loud, and squeaky. 4. The handle is annoyingly inflexible and you cannot modify the length of the extension - it's super long. 5. The on/off button is not located on the handle where you need it to be when in hand-held mode, it's only possible on the base of the vacuum cleaner. 6. It's really difficult to lock the vacuum back in upright position. 7. There's no light on the front (which isn't a huge deal except for when it is and you're cleaning under a table or somewhere kinda dark). 8. Confusing to set up. In terms of a vacuum, it does reasonably well as a heavy floor vacuum, and it cleans somewhat well and is easy to empty the dust bin - but for the cost, you're not getting much benefit. I've had Dyson vacuums I've liked, but this is not one of them.

I do really like this vacuum. The suction and performance is a game changer. The reason for 4 stars is the cord. It has to be carried along while you clean, really!?? I also do not care for the cleaning hose. That and the cord are awkward and make cleaning harder. If you have pets I highly recommend it.

Great vacuum cleaner. Very long cord. Suction is incredible. Easy to empty the canister when done vacuuming. Got on a Deal of the Day for about half off so the pricing was unbeatable!

I've used Kirby, Hoover, Dirt Devil and now this Dyson. It far exceeds any of the others. So easy to maneuver and has great suction. It is very easy to empty and clean out. It almost makes vacuuming fun. Love this vacuum.

This is a great vacuum, great suction and ease of use between different types of floors and rugs. Plastic handle seems cheap and about to break. Belt drive gap seen on floor. Great Deal of the Day price!

I did not realize how heavy it is, but it is an excellent machine. I can’t believe how great it is getting the dog hairs up. I have 3 black labs that shed year round! It’s amazing how well it does on the black hair!! Only con would be the weight .

Or old vacuume was starting to go out so we decided to get a new one. What a world of a difference! Not only is it powerful, but it actually softened up the carpet a little. It also comes with several useful attachments. We couldn't be happier.

We have 4 other vacuums before i bought the Dyson. Omg, what a difference. The container is so easy to empty and the suction is great. I was looking for a vacuum like this and talked to my sister who just bought a Dyson 6 months ago and my girl friends best friend bought one 15 years ago and would not have any other kind. This was on sale at Best Buy a few months ago and I waited until the afternoon to decide and they were out of stock. Boy was I upset, but I waited until it went back on sale and hit add to cart as soon as I saw the email on the daily deals from Best Buy. Not only did I get the best vacuum I have ever had, but I got a great deal.

We bought this vacuum about six weeks ago from Best Buy during a "Deal of the Day" promotion for about half the price. We already owned a Dyson canister-style animal vacuum that we've loved for the past five years but were looking to get a second vacuum that we could leave upstairs. This upright model immediately impressed us, and now it's all we use. (Yes, we carry it up and down the stairs - it's worth it.) It picks up our dog's hair much better than the canister version and is easier on our backs to use. The only negative is that, once you take the vacuum out of its upright locked position, it's tricky to get it to lock back in. But with time we'll likely get the hang of it.

The Dyson-ball upright has more suction with this vacuum cleaner than my original Dyson ball animal upright. The power cord seems more industrial as well. It appears to adjust easily from the carpet to the hardwood floors. The only item that appears flimsy or cheap compared to my first Dyson is the tube that runs along the vacuum. Time will tell if it holds up as long as my first one did. The attachments also don't stay in place along the cheap appearing tubing. The only one that stays in place is the attachment with the soft black feathered edge. Fortunately, that's the one attachment I use the most. The vacuum cleaner has sucked up the dog hair nicely and that is important to me.

So far this vacuum is working well. Suction is great and once you assemble and use the layout of the vacuum is easy. Still use my Shark, but the Dyson Ball animal rocks
