I owned the previous model for years prior & finally set it out to the trash as I couldn't get the pet smell out of it. This model feels cheap. The accessories are flimsy cheap feeling. It falls over quite a bit as well. I would return this if I were able. I am truly disappointed as this is an expensive vacuum for the quality. Dyson used to be the premier and gold standard but no longer.

Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS, which is same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. I'm also sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Dyson Ball Animal staying locked in to the upright position. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place.

Once for the motor catching fire when it was all clear and well maintained. Another time for the roller stopping after only the SECOND use on the replacement vacuum. I love this vacuum when it's working.................
