May seem like it should last longer, but with the long dog hair from two dogs, I was pleased with its function and life span. So, I bought another one. So far, seems just as good as the last one. I do not use any of the accessories, so I cannot comment on those.

A bit disappointing

Now I regret my purchase. That being said suction seems okay at best. That’s about the only good thing I can say about it. Every time you use this vacuum moving from the upright storage position to the sweeping position it clicks, cracks, and seems like it will break. It also is rather heavy compared to others, the “ball” does not make it maneuver any better than others, it’s more of a gimmick to seem different. The door to empty the dirt collector is okay for emptying initially, however you will place your hand dirty while closing (no clean spot on the end). Be aware that Dyson has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, Best But does not. I have contacted the customer service representative about a return due to my old shark having better features. I was told that I was 2 days past the “estimated” 14 day they offer for returns & it didn’t matter that my delivery was delayed nor Dysons guaranty, that I was in fact now stuck with this item. Please heed those warnings and I hope if you too decide on this Dyson Animal you know what you’re in for.

The Dyson Ball Animal was engineered for homes with pets, with features that dig out dirt, hair and allergens. We don't expect to hear that the vacuum seems like it would break or come apart upon everyday household usage. Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS, which is same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. The other one was more expensive; however, by the time you replace the filter a couple of times, you could have paid for the better model.

The Dyson Ball Animal does include 2 filters that require maintenance every 3 months. This consists of simply rinsing the filters under cold water and allowing to dry for at least 24 hours. The filters shouldn't need to be replaced as long as they are properly maintained.
