On top of this, Best Buy has refused to exchange mine for a new one. The vacuum might be fine if you get a new one, but I would be wary of Best Buy.

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vacuum works great, one wee pain though is the design for removing the hose, to oh have to take off all the power cord, remove the pole, then you get to the hose, also this is the “pet” model, the rollers still jam with hair and you need to disassemble the base to clear it

I can confirm that our upright machines do not have retractable cords; they do wind up for storage along the length of the wand/hose.
