Good vacuum, only thing is the hose attachment is cumbersome and seems to knock over the vacuum while using. Other than that, no complaints

We have 2 shedding dogs and 3 long haired cats. The one dog is a German Shepherd and has 4 inch hair continuously flying all around him. We have used a Kenmore Progressive for 12 years and it began to wear out. My wife could not vacuum the carpet or rugs with it as it was too heavy and hard to use. The other issues were that it fell over because it was not designed well for using the solid floor tool and it was so heavy that we purchased a small vacuum for the stairs. After some time, I started doing the vacuuming because the Kenmore hurt my wife's back and wore out her arm. The Kenmore was very powerful and did an excellent job vacuuming our house. It was far, far superior to the Hoover we had before. We decided on the Dyson Animal after a demo at the local Best Buy. It was light, powerful, and had the really cool extension for stairs. I have used it now for several weeks and can make an honest assessment. It is more powerful than the Kenmore. It is easier to use and more versatile. I can vacuum faster and with less effort for the most part. I do like the longer power cord and the longer extension for the stairs. It is easy to empty but do note that the trash can should be mostly empty when you do or you will get stuff in the room. We have about 2000 square feet of space that I vacuum. It is a little more than half hardwood with 6 smaller thinner rugs and one large thick rug. The bedrooms and stairs are carpeting. The Dyson does a great job on the hard wood and the carpet. Note that we have modern lower pile carpet and it handles it well. The ball rolls and allows for sharp turns and good angles and it is very clean. The extension tools are great on the furniture and in the small, harder to reach areas. It is easy to transition to extension from major floor vacuuming but the hose is a bit stiff and hard to manage. I assume this is because it is still new. The large thick rug is hard to vacuum. The Dyson pulls so hard that it bogs into the rug so I must make quick work of it and not stop to prevent the floor brushes from shutting off. The smaller thinner rugs are about 3/8 inch thick. The Dyson sucks them up and shuts off the brushes if we do not have someone hold the corners. If I shut the floor brushes off, then we do not get the animal hair off. So it is either a 2 person job or an awkward 1 person straddle and push. I should get a video of that process as it is quite funny to see. When the brushes shut down, we must pull the rug out and reset the brush by pressing the brush on switch twice. Not a big issue but worth mentioning. After using the Kenmore metal beast, the Dyson does seem much lighter but also not as sturdy. This could be a perception but I will only know after several years. I would recommend this vacuum to others. It is impressive but not as amazing as I had expected it to be. Vacuuming with it is not heavenly but it is efficient and a hard working vacuum.

We have owned several different brands over the years, and always wanted to try a Dyson. Just help back due to the price. Look for Best Buy Specials! So impressed with the cleaning results . We have a cat and dog, and the amount of hair it collects compared to the previous vacuum is amazing.

Great vacuum! My old one quit working after many years so I bought this one and it is still the same quality as before.

This is my second Dyson and I can't say enough amazing things about them. They are easy to clean and it picks up dirt like a champ!

Dyson! The 'Apple' of the vacuum world! Very High Quality vacuum, have had zero problems thus far. Has a great warranty so if something does go wrong, Dyson will fix it.

We love everything Dyson makes. The only thing that could make this machine easier to use would be if the hose extended easier. Other than that, bravo!

great suction and easy to use. electric cord could be longer. sometimes you really have to make sure the handle clicks so the vacuum does not fall over.

My home has all hard floors, either tile or wood and with 3 dogs and 3 cats, managing the hair was pretty hard. After checking other reviews, we decided to give this vacuum a go. It picks up all of the hair, with no build up on the brush. Extremely maneuverable and light, would recommend to anyone with pets.

We LOVE this vacuum. We have 5 pets so keeping up with all of their fur is a constant challenge. Half of our flooring is carpet and the other half is laminate but this thing handles both without a problem. It's super easy to change from carpet mode to hard floors mode. Also, if you have ever struggled trying to use a vacuum hose to vacuum your stairs, you NEED this. The hose is very long and stretch and I was able to get our entire staircase while leaving the vacuum at the bottom.
